Speaker 2So that we have funny things? Yes, because you're closer and you have long arms.
Speaker 1That can reach that button Okay.
Speaker 2When are you going to start being funny?
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know. This does not make any sense at all right now. No, and you know what I like the best about this episode?
Speaker 2What.
Speaker 1We haven't even started it yet, but what I like the best is that I am not gonna edit this.
Speaker 2Cool. Good for you, good for you.
Speaker 1Good luck future, lauren. Thank you, lauren, you know what?
Speaker 2What. I have picked a ghosty for us to drink A ghosty. Okay, we're gonna drink a ghosty. Yes, the energy drink.
Speaker 1Yes. Okay, ghost're going to drink a ghosty yes, the energy drink, yes, okay.
Speaker 2Ghost, you picked the flavor this week.
Speaker 1I did. We're going to continue with this. Yes, this week we're going to continue.
Speaker 2We didn't last week.
Speaker 1No, we're sorry about that.
Speaker 2Boring episode last week.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2The best part was the presents.
Speaker 1Yeah, the best part was the presents. Yeah, it was good.
Speaker 2Which one did you pick?
Speaker 1Electric limeade.
Speaker 2It's kind of like lemonade, except it's made with limes. Yeah, and it's also electric.
Speaker 1Yes, and it looks like mushrooms on it. Okay, but I really like the design. It's really cool.
Speaker 2You don't like mushrooms.
Speaker 1I don't, but I like the design.
Speaker 2It's very creative. Would you like to?
Speaker 1start this. Yeah, okay, okay, I'm starting next.
Speaker 2All right, is it good?
Speaker 1Yeah, you can pour.
Speaker 2Oh, you trust me, you're the poor person. Thank you, cheers.
Speaker 1Cheers.
Speaker 2It tastes like lime.
Speaker 1Hmm, yes.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Is it 7-Up?
Speaker 2I don't know. 7-up and Sprite is like the same thing.
Speaker 1Sprite yeah, sprite might be the one I'm thinking. They're like the same thing, okay, but there's lemon in that. Is it lemon? This is lime, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, Sprite is lemon and lime.
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2To me this tastes like them, them. Okay, it's okay.
Speaker 1Should we?
Speaker 2get this started. Yeah, is it your turn? It's my turn? Yeah, because I'm editing. Yep. Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. My name is Lauren.
Speaker 1And I am Matias.
Speaker 2And we are going to be your besties for the next hour or so.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2And yeah. And yeah this is where I get lost because, I don't know what to say after this. But, we are besties and we're going to be besties with the listener as well.
Speaker 1Yeah, for an hour or so. An hour or so Okay.
Speaker 2And that's what I said. Yeah, I just felt like I needed to be more clear. Yeah, say it again.
Speaker 1And that's what I said. Yeah, I just felt like I needed to be more clear.
Speaker 2Yeah, say it again, we are going to be your besties, not just you, matias.
Speaker 1Oh, no, okay, but the listeners as well.
Speaker 2I'm not talking to you.
Speaker 1No, okay, you're not talking to me oh. Are you talking to me? Not yet, no, not yet, no, no, not yet, no no no, and we are about to record our bestest episode ever. Wow.
Speaker 2That wasn't you.
Speaker 1No, no, okay, Now I'm going to talk to you. You and the listeners yeah, are going to record.
Speaker 2We're talking, not you.
Speaker 1Not me, everyone else I can leave.
Speaker 2You could, except I'm going to talk to you now, okay, how are you doing? Is it me or the list? I'm talking to you, okay.
Speaker 1I'm good. Good, how are you? I'm also good. I was talking to the listeners.
Speaker 2Okay, sorry, you were looking at me.
Speaker 1Oh, no, okay, I guess I'm talking to you then.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1How are you?
Speaker 2I'm also good.
Speaker 1Okay, you too.
Speaker 2Thank you. What is going on Are?
Speaker 1we gonna talk about the week.
Speaker 2Are we?
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 2Okay, let's do that then.
Speaker 1Nothing much happened this week.
Speaker 2I don't really know.
Speaker 1Last weekend we worked on Saturday.
Speaker 2Oh, we did. I have to tell you about my work day on saturday oh yeah oh my gosh, worst day ever, at least up until lunch. So what happened?
Speaker 1I was yeah, I hope you know.
Speaker 2I don't know, but I really want to tell you what happened yeah, I don't know what happened.
Speaker 1I don't remember. It's a good story, too bad. I don't know what happened. I don't remember. It's a good story, too bad, I don't remember it.
Speaker 2No, I swear it was a really good story. Yeah, you just have to trust me, mm-hmm. And then laugh because it was a funny story too yeah. So I was working on Saturday and we worked. Good story yeah no, we work for an online store, so we have to like do the picking of stuff off the shelves and send it to sorting and stuff.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 2So I was doing that, the picking part, plocka, plocka, and I was just, you know, doing my thing, working and minding my own business, and there's this one guy who keeps scanning me in the face with his scanner.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And first of all, that's pretty dangerous.
Speaker 1You're not supposed to do that. It has a strong light, it's like a laser. Yeah.
Speaker 2So I don't know, I guess he thought that was funny, but I did not. And he was like making faces at me and one time he was like passing by, like in the opposite direction, coming towards me, and he like swerved his table towards me like he was going to hit me. I guess he thought that was funny, I did not, I wasn't having it, I wasn't having it you weren't having it. I weren't having it.
Speaker 1Hold on.
Speaker 2Where did the grammar go? I wasn't having it.
Speaker 1Having it.
Speaker 2I weren't having it Because I just wanted to, you know, do my thing and mind my own business and get my work done and then leave.
Speaker 1And just a side note, I do appreciate you having problems with your grammar and stuff, because that makes me feel better. Okay, good About myself.
Speaker 2You're welcome.
Speaker 1Thank you.
Speaker 2So I Anyway, Anyway, anyway, back to my story.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, that wasn't relevant. It was a good story.
Speaker 2No, it wasn't over. Oh it's not done yet. No, because I was so sick of it that I complained to the supervisor up there where I was working and she was saying that oh well, he is kind of annoying and it's his last day anyway, and I was like, well, that doesn't really matter. She was like, should I talk to the boss and have her like send the guy home or something? I was like absolutely not, he can suffer, he can stand here and not go home.
Speaker 1He will get paid though.
Speaker 2Yeah, I don't know. I was trying to, you know, measure the pros and cons.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean going home, it gets freedom.
Speaker 2Right, I mean yeah. If we measured here and now, how would you feel? Would you rather stay at work and be tortured but still get paid, or go home, have the freedom and not get paid?
Speaker 1I think you know my answer.
Speaker 2I know that you would stay at work.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Yeah, but for anyone else yeah going home is what they want to do yeah I was like no, he's not going home, he, he can finish his day yeah and not have the freedom. Uh, so yeah, and then she asked me if I wanted to go do something else. I was like, absolutely, so I went off and did something else.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I'm pretty sure I saw him on Monday again.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Then again I don't know. So I went off to do this other thing that I was told to do. And what happened then? Oh, someone was asking me how we pack, because I went to packing.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, so Like it was a secret, it's a secret, yeah this other thing packing.
Speaker 2I didn't realize that it was going to be a part of the story. I didn't. I don't remember anything, so I went to packing don't tell anyone no, it's a secret. No one's allowed to know that I was packing. I was packing. We have to whisper about this.
Speaker 2And there was this guy who was asking me how we pack the slightly bigger things, and so I was showing him how we do that, and I looked down at the table, just you know. I noticed that his phone was there on the table and it was on, so I assumed that he was watching a video or something, even though we're not supposed to do that.
Speaker 1Some people do that.
Speaker 2Some people do that. I don't know. I don't know. No, I don't know.
Speaker 1That's how you make mistakes, I think.
Speaker 2What? And then I actually looked down at the phone and I saw myself, and so I noticed that this guy was in a video call with someone, and my first thought was like who wants to watch you working?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2This is not fun, no, and we are not allowed to be on phone calls at work, no, so I finished up you know what I was doing there and I went to the boss in that department.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I was like this you were going to the boss a lot that day I was Bosses. The bosses, and so I told him that this guy is on a video call and he was like okay, well, I'll take care of it. So he took care of it and the guy put his phone away, I guess, and I continued working. Cool, I got two people down. Because, people get away with so much stuff at work and it's ridiculous, it's not okay.
Speaker 1It's not okay. I never do anything about it, though.
Speaker 2No, but I was just sick of it at that point.
Speaker 1You were already like.
Speaker 2I was on a roll, yeah.
Speaker 1Annoyed with people, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I just felt so uncomfortable seeing myself on someone else's camera.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I wasn't having it, so I went back to packing.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That's not it. That's not the end of my story. Because the girl next to me, who I know generally, yeah. I've worked with her before. She had run out of labels so she went and got a new roll of labels and she couldn't remember how to install them into the printer and I was like I know how to do this. So I got the roll in. Yeah, but I was having trouble putting it.
Speaker 1Yeah With closing the.
Speaker 2The clamp.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, because it has to clamp down. It was kind of jammed a little bit. It was not easy to close.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Also my arms were kind of tired already from packing.
Speaker 1Yeah, you're not used to that.
Speaker 2No, I haven't packed like that in a really long time, so my arms were hurting. But me struggling triggered the girl on the other side. She thought that the labels were stuck. Yeah, so without even looking, she thought that the labels were stuck. So, without even looking, she assumed that they were stuck. She pretty much took over for me and she was like I know how to fix this, and she took the rolling pin thing from the printer out. And then she realized, oh, it's not stuck.
Speaker 1And.
Speaker 2I was like no way.
Speaker 1I mean.
Speaker 2I did not ask for help.
Speaker 1I mean if, if you're going to do that, maybe you should check first.
Speaker 2Yeah, Maybe say oh, what's the problem? Can I help you?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Instead of oh it's stuck. Let me do it for you. Like I did not need help. I needed a little extra muscle to get that clamp down. But no, she took the rolling pin out, realized that it was not stuck, and then she tried putting the rolling pin back in and she struggled so hard and I just stood there and I just waited. I don't I don't even know how to respond. It's like no one asked you to help. I did not need help. This would have been handled and we would have moved on by now if you had just minded your own business. Yeah, but I mean, it took her so long to figure out how to get it back in there.
Speaker 1And then, when she finally did, I just, I took over again like I didn't.
Speaker 2You went to the boss. I was like I don't need help. He was like I'll take care of it. No, I didn't. But I told her that I did not even need help. It was like eight years of being here and I don't know how to fix the printers. I don't't think so.
Speaker 1No, makes me think about one time when I was trying to help a new person who just started working and it was stuck at the rolling pin.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And when it gets really stuck it's very difficult to get it out.
Speaker 2I was really struggling with that and you know you know, I didn't even know you could take that pin out until like the past year or so.
Speaker 1Okay, yeah really I tried and I kind of slipped so I hit my knuckles so they started bleeding so I was all bloody on my knuckles after helping that person with the label.
Speaker 2Yeah, oh, my God yeah.
Speaker 1Not my proudest moment.
Speaker 2No, I guess not.
Speaker 1I felt like she must have thought that this guy does not know what he's doing.
Speaker 2No, Well, all of this happened before lunch.
Speaker 1Yeah, which I mean I got to lunch and I was already so sick of the day, not even half the day and you had all this.
Speaker 2Right. Luckily, the afternoon was a lot calmer.
Speaker 1That's good.
Speaker 2Yeah, I got abandoned at packing because no one wanted to pack with me anymore.
Speaker 1No, of course not.
Speaker 2No, there was so little to do, but they wanted at least one person to be left there and that was me yeah you. I was told to stand and wait.
Speaker 1You made the boss fire all of them, all the people around you. Yeah and just Get rid of that person and that person. Yeah, flick them away one by one, yeah. Just get rid of that person and that person.
Speaker 2Flick them away one by one. Yeah, bye.
Speaker 1You're like I have the power.
Speaker 2And then he told me, stand and wait.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2There's work coming, just wait.
Speaker 1Yeah, just you wait.
Speaker 2And then I came home and well, no, I went to the store. Okay, I went to the store and I bought a few things, and among those things I had found a pack of cookie decorating frosting kind of tubes to decorate cookies with. It was a set of four colors. I was really excited. Oh, okay, and somewhere in between purchasing this item and getting home, it disappeared. I don't know where it went.
Speaker 1Oh, no. Yeah, I hope this is nothing reoccurring in your life.
Post-Christmas Chilling and Shopping
Speaker 2I don't know, we'll see. We'll see where the week takes me, so I was pretty disappointed about that. We were going to make gingerbread cookies, but all of the pre-made gingerbread cookie dough was sold out everywhere. Couldn't find it anywhere.
Speaker 1That was a problem.
Speaker 2It was a problem.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So we just got pre-made gingerbread cookies.
Speaker 1Oh no, oh no, oh no, I guess it wasn't that bad.
Speaker 2Oh no. Instead of baking gingerbread cookies, like we had planned on doing, we had hot chocolate and we wrapped presents.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Yeah and stuff, and we tried watching Christmas movies but the kids got bored with them, which was disappointing.
Speaker 1What Christmas movies Can I? Do you remember any?
Speaker 2of them. You may not ask. These are secrets. Okay, rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Huh, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Those movies.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Frosty the Snowman.
Speaker 1I have seen those.
Speaker 2You have. Did you do anything fun when you got home from work on Saturday?
Speaker 1I don't think so Okay, I don't remember.
Speaker 2Did you do anything fun on Sunday?
Speaker 1I don't think so. Okay Did you.
Speaker 2I don't remember Actually, yeah, maybe, okay, maybe I did, I think.
Speaker 1But you don't remember. I don't know, I did something fun but I don't remember it.
Speaker 2I think I did something fun.
Speaker 1So fun, so much fun, but I don't remember it.
Speaker 2And then we worked on Monday.
Speaker 1Yes, we did.
Speaker 2We were offered to go home early.
Speaker 1Yep.
Speaker 2Neither of us took it.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2And my department abandoned me again, yep. So I ended up stressing quite a bit towards the end of the day there.
Speaker 1Okay, yeah, for me it was the opposite. I had most to do at the start of the day, nothing to do at the end of the day.
Speaker 2I guess that's kind of nice, though, yeah, it is Especially like the day before Christmas. Yeah.
Speaker 1Eve. Yeah, yeah, it was nice.
Speaker 2We should probably talk about how our Christmases went. Yeah, you go first, because I feel like I've talked so much.
Speaker 1You have, okay. Okay, so the Christmas Eve that's the day we are celebrating Christmas the most. It was a good day, though I didn't do much. I was just chilling and helping out, you know, gathering presents and stuff like that. I let other people do the cooking and stuff, because I'm not that good at that. And then we had guests my sister and her family, my niece's grandma on her father's side and her husband. They came and visited. It was nice. It wasn't the first time. They stayed the whole Christmas. It was nice to see them. I had not seen them for a while. It was good. We opened presents later and I was really satisfied with everything I got. I got a jacket, gloves, a hat.
Speaker 1Christmas hat and a Christmas tie.
Speaker 2It's very cute.
Speaker 1Yeah, I got a couple movies, some deodorant. Yeah, I got a couple movies, some deodorants, shower gel I'm just gonna name all the things I got. And I got an energy drink from my niece.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1I think that was it, and I got money from her grandma. Okay, I like giving the presents better than receiving, although I do appreciate that as well. Yeah, but that's just me. I like seeing other people opening gifts, oh yeah, and we watched Donald Duck, of course.
Speaker 2Oh yes.
Speaker 1Yep, how was your Christmas Eve? Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2Well, we started off by trying to clean up the place a little bit. Okay, not too bit Okay. Not too much.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2It wasn't that much, but my daughter is so impatient and she just wants to open presents so bad. But we didn't let her Not yet. I mean, we started off in the morning with like the stockings and Advent calendars and stuff. Yeah so they got a little something in the morning. And then my life partner's mom and her sister came over and they started making dinner. Okay, the guests make dinner.
Speaker 1That's nice.
Speaker 2Yeah, and so yeah, they did that.
Speaker 1Was it good?
Speaker 2It was Good. We ate the dinner and it was really good.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, we also ate dinner, by the way, Did you?
Speaker 2Yeah, okay, you didn't just ignore the people who were making the dinner.
Speaker 1Yeah, I let them make the dinner and eat it by themselves. And I just watched.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, Well, the eating dinner and Donald Duck kind of collided. Okay, because we were still eating when it started.
Speaker 1Do you usually watch the Donald Duck?
Speaker 2I do.
Speaker 1You do.
Speaker 2Yeah, I like to watch it.
Speaker 1Me too.
Speaker 2And then we opened presents, like you're supposed to here Me too. And then we opened presents like you're supposed to here, yeah, and I got some money and a gift card as well, and I got a serving tray and a water bottle and a thermos and I got a pen. I got this pen. This is my pen.
Speaker 1Cool.
Speaker 2It's engraved or whatever.
Speaker 1Ah, okay, I thought that was dirt, but now I see it's words.
Speaker 2No, it's not dirt, yeah.
Speaker 1And it says love, lovey, lovey, oh yeah.
Speaker 2So that was fun.
Speaker 1Lovey.
Speaker 2I got some candy, yeah, oh, I got some of those like fragrance sticks as well. Mm-hmm, yeah and yeah, and that's pretty much what I got.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2All the things I like.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah Good.
Speaker 2So I was also very satisfied.
Speaker 1Yeah, in our family we watch Kale Anka or Donald Duck, and then we eat the dinner. Oh okay. And after dinner we have to do some dishes, or my mom wants to do the dishes right after we've eaten wants to do the dishes right after we've eaten, and so that gives the rest of us some downtime before we opening gifts and all.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So I went to my room and I slept. I was just. I took a nap. I didn't plan on doing that, but I just lay in bed and then somehow the time turned to later.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And I woke up, and then we opened the presents, uh-huh.
Speaker 2Cool story, right, very cool story, all right. So what about the day after?
Speaker 1The day after? I don't know.
Speaker 2Which was Wednesday.
Speaker 1Yeah, Christmas Day.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1What happened that day? I don't think much happened.
Speaker 2No, I think we just chilled for the day.
Speaker 1Yeah, we ate some leftovers. Yeah, I think we had the cat's tree. We got that from my sister. They had one that they didn't use, so to our smaller cats, so I found a good spot for that and I screwed it into the wall so it was stable Okay. So I'm really proud of that.
Speaker 2Good yeah.
Speaker 1And they seem to like it. Good yeah, that's it.
Speaker 2I think that day is just a chilling day for us clearing out the day before's mess and eating leftovers and just yeah, hanging out. Yeah, and yesterday was out. Yeah, and yesterday was Thursday.
Speaker 1Yeah, I did some editing, video editing, and yeah, that's kind of what I did.
Speaker 2I wasn't planning on doing very much because my life partner was supposed to go to his dad's and celebrate Christmas, but that didn't happen. So I got all excited because he was supposed to take the car.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So then I had the car.
Speaker 1Oh, yeah, yay.
Speaker 2So I took my.
Speaker 1So he never went.
Speaker 2No, okay. So I took my older kids to a city and Just any, just pick one.
Speaker 1Yeah, you just picked one doesn't matter um let's go to a city yeah, well, no they.
Speaker 2They got like all these gift cards and money and stuff. So they were like we want to get stuff with this money yeah I know that my oldest really needed shoes and clothes, and that's what he wanted to get with his money, yeah, which is really good. I mean it's good that he's thinking about the things he actually needs instead of just candy and garbage.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So we did that we went into a city, into a city.
Speaker 1Yes, the nearest one, random city, the nearest one, and we. The random city was the nearest one. Random city the nearest one. Okay, and we?
Speaker 2The random city was the nearest one and my oldest got some clothes, and so did my daughter, and then we I don't know we went into other stores and looked around and maybe bought some stuff, and I was thinking I need to go to a slightly bigger city that has another store that I want to go to. Yeah, and my oldest hadn't found shoes that he liked. So we went to the next city and he did find shoes there and I went into this other store that I wanted to go to.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2And because I wanted to get something specific and turns out that this specific item you can only get online, I was like, oh, okay.
Speaker 1Disappointing.
Speaker 2Disappointed, but I ordered the thing anyway.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So then we went to the next store over and got some things and I got a curtain rod what was that? A curtain rod yes yeah, and with a set of curtains. I was like I'm gonna put up some curtains, gonna be fun good times.
Speaker 2And so, uh, we checked out and I bought the curtain rod with all the stuff and everything and we packed the bag that we got and then we left with the bag and not the curtain rod. So I guess I was so distracted by the kids and making sure that they were where they were supposed to be that Okay, so you forgot something.
Speaker 1I did Sounds sounds familiar I don't know, maybe not no this has never happened before, so that brings us to now you can cut in what you said in the beginning oh yeah, I guess I could if I wanted to.
Speaker 2I don't know. That cuts to today, which is Friday.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2And you came over and we hung out, and then we had to go back to that store and I grabbed my curtain rod and we went food shopping and then we came back and we also watched movies today we had a movie day we did and a movie night yeah, there's lots of movies, so would you like to take a break so that?
Speaker 1we can move on after later, yeah, yeah, let's do that, let's do that all right, we will be right back right back, right back, and we are back.
Speaker 2Hello, you already said welcome back.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So I'm just saying hello.
Speaker 1Hello.
Speaker 2Hello, all right.
Speaker 1All right.
Speaker 2Today is Friday, yes, and it is December 27th 2024. It's our last recording for the year, yep, 2024. Very exciting, yeah, and we did watch movies. We watched quite a few movies, yep, like we said, we had a movie day and a movie night.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2The first three should probably go pretty quickly though.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Would you like to tell me about movie day?
Variations of Christmas Carol Movies
Speaker 1Okay, let's tell you about movie day. We did have a movie day, and it was different versions of the Christmas Carol. No, yes, christmas Carol, right, are you laughing?
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I'm not. I'm not laughing. Why would I laugh? There's nothing funny.
Speaker 1So three and they're all musicals and the movies were Scrooge from 1970. The Muppet Christmas Carol from 1992, and Spirited from 2022.
Speaker 2And Spirited, I believe, has become tradition for us. Yes, because it's the third year in a row we watch this movie. Yep, but let's start off with Scrooge. Yep Do we really need to go through the summary. I don't know. I feel like everyone knows what it is by now it's about ghosts and a grumpy old man so it's perfect for the podcast yeah the ghosties and the grumpy old man yep, that's you and me yep, yeah, that's us, yeah the ghosty and the old man.
Speaker 2We're gonna rename the podcast I think, to the ghosty and the grumpy old man yeah I feel like that would be more descriptive of what the podcast is yeah, true what did you think about Scrooge?
Speaker 1okay, scrooge, uh, the first one, I, I don't know. I think it was probably better than I thought it would be. Um, because I I was just interested in it, since it was a musical and I wanted all the musicals, uh, in one go and uh, and I thought I was thinking that movie would be really boring. It wasn't super fun, but it was still better than I was thinking it would be. What did you think about the movie?
Speaker 2it was a christmas carol.
Speaker 1There was one song that I liked about hating people yeah, that was that, one was good yeah, I felt like um, it sounds like us at work right, yeah, for reasons yeah, you have already talked about.
Speaker 2I feel like that's the theme of today's episode.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Just, I hate people. But yeah, I mean it was okay, it was a Christmas Carol, it was generally like the others. I watched the movie.
Speaker 1Yeah, but.
Speaker 2I did, hmm, but it was okay. Maybe it seems like I didn't watch the movie, but I did watch the movie. You did, I saw you you saw me watch the movie yeah, all right you were not watching them I did you were watching me watch the movie well, yeah, I, I watched it through your eyes.
Speaker 1It reflected on your eyes uh-huh, oh, the glasses yeah, okay all right all, so that was that one.
Speaker 2And then we watched the Muppets. Christmas Carol Yep, which was a Christmas carol involving the Muppets.
Speaker 1Yeah, do you want to take that first before I?
Speaker 2I would like to yes. Because, I enjoyed this one. I believe it's very likely that I had seen this movie before Scrooge. I had not seen Okay, but I'm pretty sure I've seen the Muppets movie before, but I enjoyed it.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2The Muppets are always fun. Yeah, I like them. I like all the different characters. Yeah, I think they're all funny.
Speaker 1Yeah, and they're so well made. It's incredible. I really like the work they put into the actual Muppets.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1It's very creative and I do love that. I also like this movie better than Scrooge. It was funnier, it had Michael Caine, it had Muppets.
Speaker 2Wow.
Speaker 1Yeah, very cool. And what?
Speaker 2I'm not sure what the Muppets movie would be without the Muppets themselves.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's true, I don't know.
Speaker 2Unless it was just like the actors with the hands and the voices?
Speaker 1Yeah, just hands.
Speaker 2Just hands. They forgot the puppets that day.
Speaker 1That's a good point, but what's happening? Stop laughing at me saying things. I'm not trying to be funny yet.
Speaker 2That wasn't the joke. It had Muppets.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay you made a good point, okay, so a cake, a cake. I did not see a cake um it's. It was also shorter I I appreciate that I like short, shorter movies. When they're too, they can feel like they overstay their welcome.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So one hour and a half or 90 minutes, that's a good length for a movie in my opinion. But yes, I did like this movie.
Speaker 2All right, and we watched Spirited, which we have talked about before. We have, and it's a very good movie. It's a good movie, all right, and we watched Spirited, which we have talked about before we have. And it's a very good movie.
Speaker 1It's a good movie. It's another twist on the same story. It's a new twist and I really love this movie. I think it was an instant Christmas classic for me, yeah.
Speaker 2I also love this movie. I like how last year we watched the Grinches and then this year we watched A Christmas Carols.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So maybe this should be a Christmas tradition for us. Maybe, that would be fun. Three versions of one story.
Speaker 1Versions of yeah, different versions of.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, I like that, yeah. Different versions of.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, I like that. Yeah, good, I just want to ask people if they want they can come up with other suggestions for other years.
Speaker 2We could take some suggestions, yeah, of what we should watch next year.
Speaker 1Yeah, good.
Speaker 2Would you like to move on to the movies that we watched tonight?
Speaker 1Yeah, let's move on.
Speaker 2All right, let's move on then.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Tonight we watched Die Hard 2 and.
Speaker 1Sällskapsresa.
Speaker 2Yeah, okay, so I'm going to tell you about Die Hard 2. Yeah, okay, this is a movie with Bruce Willis and not Alan Rickman.
Speaker 1True, yeah, something happened to him in the last movie. At some point, yeah, we won't spoil what happened, but he's not in this movie.
Speaker 2No, Basically watch Die Hard.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Except there's planes involved and airports.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Okay and yeah, basically that's what it is is Die Hard at an airport.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, what did you think of this movie?
Speaker 1I love this movie.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1It's so great. I like this one as much as the first one. It's funny, it has great action. It has a pretty good twist. If you ask me, I don't know. I do really like this one. What did you think about this?
Speaker 2movie yeah, it was a good movie. I enjoyed it. Good yeah, that's all. Okay, I don't know what else to say.
Speaker 1No, it's a little bit bigger, I mean in terms of they have this whole airport this time.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's also set during Christmas. It is Just like Die.
Speaker 1Hard. Yeah, I still think this is also a Christmas movie, although it's not as much of a Christmas movie as the first one.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So yeah, that was Die Hard 2. Yep, Fun thing that it also had the. Is it called like Undertitle or or kind of? Yeah, it's also called Die Hard 2. Die Harder.
Speaker 2Aha, okay, great Undertitle, Very cool.
Speaker 1Then we watched Sällskapsresan. Yes, eller Finns det Kaffe på Grisfesten? That's the Undertitle for that movie.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1I don't even know if Undertitle is the correct word, but you know what I mean.
Speaker 2I do yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, this movie is also set at Christmas. It's a Swedish movie, by the way, and it's about a bunch of people going to Canary Islands for Christmas. That's it. It's a very weird bunch of people, very funny. I think it's been voted the funniest Swedish movie ever by people and it is a really funny movie. The protagonist of the movie is this nerdy guy and the actor is also the director of the movie and he wrote the movie. And, yeah, very funny guy. He becomes friends with a Norwegian guy. There's two drunk guys, there's two girls. Oh, yeah, the nerdy guy. He has to take a package to the Canary Islands for another guy and he doesn't know what the package contains. It looks like it's just bread, like hard bread, but it's also money, lots of money in there in the package, and that package doesn't end up where it's supposed to be on the first try. You know airports.
Speaker 2Yeah, so yeah, is that a good summary of the movie.
Speaker 1Yeah, I guess so. So what did? Is that a good summary of the movie?
Speaker 2Yeah, I guess so.
Speaker 1So what did you think about the movie?
Speaker 2I love this movie. It was very quickly one of my favorite Swedish movies.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I watched this pretty early on when I moved here to Sweden. Yeah, because that's where we are.
Speaker 1Oh, really yeah.
Speaker 2I loved it then and I still love it. It is very funny.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, I agree. Very funny movie and, like I said, it's been voted the funniest Swedish movie. I don't know. That's as much as you said about Die Hard, so I guess I'm content with that.
Speaker 2All right, that was the movies right, nothing else.
Weight Loss Progress and Life Updates
Speaker 1No, I think that was it. Are we gonna talk about? Talk about the talk about New?
Speaker 2Year's. This episode is coming out on New Year's. Yeah, is it New Year's Eve at least.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, it's coming out on my dad's birthday, yeah, so happy birthday, dad happy birthday, dad.
Speaker 2Um so for the past couple years we have talked about new year's resolutions for our new year's episodes yeah and we have a reoccurring resolution which has been weight related.
Speaker 1Yeah, so I guess we did good last year.
Speaker 2Well, last year we both wanted to lose weight for this year.
Speaker 1I'm pretty sure we have.
Speaker 2Yeah, I would say so, Since the year before that we said the same thing and I think we might have ended up gaining weight instead, or not much happened this year. I feel like we did really good.
Speaker 1Yeah, we have lost a lot of weight, and I think that's thanks to you.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Without you, this would not have happened, because you losing weight made me also want to lose weight and therefore do this journey with you, alongside you.
Speaker 2No, that's good. Yeah, I'm really glad. I'm really proud of how far we've come. Yeah, really so.
Speaker 1You really inspired me'm really proud of how far we've come. Yeah, really so. You really inspired me. By the way, you're welcome, thank you.
Speaker 2I'm thinking we've been doing weight updates for I don't know the past few weeks.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2But for this last week we have not really been checking our weight.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2We decided we were going to relax for the rest of the year. But I'm thinking with a twist. Can we do a weight update compared to the beginning of the year to now? How much have we changed in the past year? Within this year, I have lost 10.9 kilos okay, you know what?
Speaker 1what I lost 11.8 you win.
Speaker 2You win the year.
Speaker 1Yay, we're all gonna celebrate so what do I win a cake uh, you win, um, uh, um, wow.
Speaker 2Motivation to continue for next year.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 2I mean, I know there's been lots of ups and downs this year.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2It was kind of a slow start, I think in the beginning of the year. I lost most of my weight during the second half of the year.
Speaker 1Yeah, same here.
Speaker 2So it only took me like six months to drop 10 kilos yeah, I mean it's been rough.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's been rough it's been rough.
Speaker 2Were you gonna say something?
Speaker 1I don't, um I. Well, you, you began your journey before me, so um, so you, you win that, okay, and also I. I think you are the winner in losing the most weight in one day yeah, I guess so.
Speaker 2So, um, we can talk about the past year the past year how has your year been? Your 2024 it?
Speaker 1has been. It has had ups and downs. The biggest down was that I know that I'm going to get fired next year.
Speaker 2Yeah, Yep, me too.
Speaker 1That's the absolute biggest down for me.
Speaker 2Three months left.
Speaker 1Yeah, yay, very fun.
Speaker 2It's been more negative for you. I think so From me. I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 1Yeah. Yes, that's good, though, that you can see it more positively, but I'm kind of positive that I will be back. I'm not going to be back as a permanent marker yeah, you're not going to be a permanent marker. No Employee yeah, that's the word yeah not permanent employee, but I mean I'll be back in a way and hopefully maybe they realize they need more people and I can be one of those. That's my hope for my future.
Speaker 2Work your way back.
Speaker 1Yeah, I would say I'm a pretty hard worker.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'd agree Anything else that happened to you this year.
Speaker 1Okay, the best thing. What was the best thing happening this year? I mean, we had fun. I liked going to see the offspring, it was fun.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I did like that.
Speaker 2Even though it rained on us. It did and you rode roller coasters.
Speaker 1Yeah, but it was still worth it. I liked it.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1And we got a little bit tipsy.
Speaker 2Just a little bit.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's what I said. Yeah, I don't know what would you say. Do you have ups and downs?
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean, I also lost my job, which? Was a down.
Speaker 1It was a down.
Speaker 2It was a down but I think I kind of realized what I want to do with my life yeah anyway, so it was both that was an up okay, and my mom died, which?
Speaker 1was.
Speaker 2That was the biggest down a really big down, but I did get to go back home and see a lot of friends, I'm working on that.
Speaker 1Shut up I'm helping you you are.
Speaker 2You are taking my lines and you are putting them in the wrong place. I got to go back home and see a whole bunch of friends and family and meet a bunch of people who really helped out a lot when it really felt like the mat was pulled out from under our feet. So that was an up.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, the mat pulling.
Speaker 2That was a down. We fell and there were so many people who just Caught you, volunteered their time and helped us out.
Speaker 1They didn't catch you A little bit, they helped you up.
Speaker 2They did when things were really overwhelming. We had a really good support group, yeah, so that was really good.
Speaker 1And I was cheering on from Sweden.
Speaker 2Yeah, you were one of them who helped.
Speaker 1I didn't do much helping.
Speaker 2Well shut up. Well, you were one of them who helped. I didn't do much helping. Well shut off? Well, I didn't. Well, you held down the ropes here while I was gone. Yeah, so that was helping me specifically.
Speaker 1Okay yeah, by making the silliest episodes.
Speaker 2They were very silly, but I really liked them at the same time.
Speaker 1Okay, thank you.
Speaker 2Along with this whole weight journey that we've been on. That's been the biggest ups and downs. Yeah, talk about the ups and downs, oh my goodness, the drama that kind of follows with trying to be good and not wanting to be good, but wanting to be good at the same time, and the disappointment and excitement at the same time.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Like, oh, I'm moving forward and oh no, what have I done? Kind of it's been the biggest roller coaster, I think.
Speaker 1Yeah, so what did you think about the Offspring, the?
Speaker 2Offspring. I loved the Offspring, that was so much fun and I don't know.
Speaker 1I feel like we've gone on a whole bunch of other smaller adventures yeah, that's the one that sticks out, though I also like the halloween thing.
Speaker 2We went with the kids and our friend the haunted trail.
Speaker 1Yeah, although that wasn't as grand, no, but still nice.
New Year Resolutions and Future Plans
Speaker 2It was still fun. It's been an alright year. Yeah, I don't want to say it was a great year.
Speaker 1No, no, I understand that. I wouldn't say that either.
Speaker 2It was a year and we did survive it.
Speaker 1We did so far. It's not over yet, true.
Speaker 2So let's set our resolutions for next year.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Okay, do you have anything? Let's be repetitive. Yeah, I'm going to lose another 10 kilos by June.
Speaker 1By June, wow yeah.
Speaker 2Since I lost 10 kilos since June Last June.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, I'm also going gonna lose some weight. I don't know how much weight, but it is good to have a goal.
Speaker 2Yeah, you gotta be specific, because if you just say I'm gonna lose weight, okay Well, tomorrow you lose 0.1 kilos and okay Done.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I don't have to do any more here.
Speaker 1So I need to lose okay 15 kilos at August.
Speaker 2That sounds about right. Yeah, you can do that.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, what day in August.
Speaker 2Specifically. Okay, I'm going to put this in my calendar so you know 15th. August 15th All right, that's when. You've lost 15 kilos. Yeah, all right, that's when you've lost 15 kilos.
Speaker 1Yeah, all right, from the 2nd of January.
Speaker 2That's when we're going to start up again.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, good luck.
Speaker 2Matias. Good luck, matias, you got this.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2No problem, you got me, I'll make sure of it.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay Good.
Speaker 2And then we're not. No, no, not gonna happen.
Speaker 1But we're gonna be stronger yeah. And what happens if we don't succeed with our goals?
Speaker 2Then someone's gonna get beaten up.
Speaker 1Okay, I think One of us, or One of us Do we get to pick someone.
Speaker 2We're gonna toss a coin flip a coin. We're going to play rock paper scissors.
Speaker 1Okay, so if you fail, I can get beaten up. No, no.
Speaker 2If we both fail, then we have to play rock paper scissors to see who gets beaten up. But if I succeed, which obviously I will and you fail, which I mean look at you, then you're going to get beaten up.
Speaker 1Okay, so okay, I'm the one getting beaten up. What if you fail and I succeed?
Speaker 2Well, that's not going to happen.
Speaker 1Well, what if?
Speaker 2Okay, then I'm going to get beaten up.
Speaker 1Okay, I thought I was getting beaten up.
Speaker 2You're still getting beaten up.
Speaker 1I'm going to get beaten up, no matter what.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Even if we both succeed.
Speaker 2I'm getting beaten up, do better.
Speaker 1Could have done 20.
Speaker 2You could have.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2By August 15th.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Plenty of time to do that. I'm also going to start studying, oh yeah. So I'm hoping that I can stick with that and not just look for another job that I settle into. So that's my goal is to start and stick with it.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I guess I will have to do some job searching.
Speaker 2I want to get a job in Stockholm.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I want to work for Bully Bumpa.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That is my life goal.
Speaker 1And what is Bully Bumpa?
Speaker 2It's a dragon.
Speaker 1Yep.
Speaker 2You want to work for a dragon. I want to work for a dragon on a children's TV program. Yeah, that is my goal in life.
Speaker 1Good goal, thank you, matias?
Speaker 2Yeah, do you have anything else you would possibly want to say about any of this?
Speaker 1No, I think I'm good.
Speaker 2All right, will you tell me what is currently ruining your life?
Speaker 1That's a good question.
Speaker 2During Christmas season. Is anything actually ruining your life?
Speaker 1I don't think much. Okay, just end that there. Yeah, that's my sentence.
Speaker 2Is that what's ruining your life? Yeah, yep, I don't think much.
Speaker 1I don't think too much these days.
Speaker 2I guess that's good enough.
Speaker 1That's perfect.
Speaker 2I don't do much.
Speaker 1I don't think much. That's a good ending of the year. I don't think much. That's a good ending of the year. I don't think I'm gonna start thinking next year. Oh wow, that could change your life yep start thinking uh, okay, uh, what's ruining your life was that. Does that, did that um sound uh like you, thought about it. Yeah.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, you were thinking really hard about how to say that.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yes, so so far you're doing good.
Speaker 1So, so far, so, so far.
Speaker 2Good.
Speaker 1Yeah, so so far good yeah.
Speaker 2Okay, what is ruining my life right now? Yeah, my memory, I think, because I keep leaving things at the store. I buy things and then I leave it at the store.
Speaker 1Yeah, like I didn't really want this, I'm going to leave this here.
Speaker 2You can have it.
Speaker 1Yeah, I guess, so maybe it was a good thing I was with you today.
Speaker 2Yeah, you didn't go into the store with me. You didn't remind me to bring the thing with me.
Speaker 1Well, I went into the second store with you and we got everything from there. I even double checked I did too, and I was the one packing the stuff.
Speaker 2I'm glad that I had you.
Speaker 1You're welcome.
Speaker 2Thank you All. Right, well, I'm all out of sips.
Speaker 1I've been out of sips for a long time. All right, so we're all out of episode.
Speaker 2I guess so. So would you like to wrap this up? Yep, finally.
Speaker 1So give me some of that wrapping paper and I'll get to it.
Speaker 2All right, sounds good. Yep, thank you for listening to the episode, not you.
Speaker 1Okay, the people Okay.
Speaker 2Thank you for listening to me talk to you, Matias. Oh, oh, oh, okay, yes, thank you for listening to me talk to you.
