Speaker 1In a world where everything is unscripted, this is Roasty.
Speaker 2Toasty. Ghost nothing more about that no, did you miss me? I did did you miss me? What no is it weird that I I hesitate to believe you yeah, that's weird okay, because we talk all the time.
Speaker 1You say it's hard to miss me yeah, maybe I said that I don't know. Uh, it's probably like um, uh, you know something I do sometimes. What is it? Joke? I make jokes. You're an idiot. Should we start?
Speaker 2No, I'm thinking half an hour of warm-up is fine and then we can start. Okay, I mean, you did say we're kind of early.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, that's true. It's not even 10 yet. It's not even 11 yet no, it's not even 10, yet it's not even 11 yet no, it's not even midnight. We don't just cut to like random warm-up bits.
Speaker 2Conversations yeah.
Speaker 1Just in the middle of a sentence from the warm-ups.
Speaker 2Um, I don't know, not in the middle of a sentence. It should kind of make sense.
Speaker 1Well, out of context, it would be fun to just.
Speaker 2Yeah, out of context. Yeah, I suck at this game. Did you know that?
Speaker 1Yeah, no.
Speaker 2It's only 25 minutes.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's, true, five more minutes.
Speaker 2Three more hours yeah.
Speaker 1How was the walk?
Speaker 2The walk went fine yeah.
Speaker 1We didn't even sleep or anything.
Speaker 2No, it's mostly wet. It's not really slippery. No, not cold.
Speaker 1We didn't, you know, fall at all. No, that rhymed, that's true, I'm a poet.
Speaker 2You didn't even know it Exactly.
Speaker 1I don't know what rhymes with exactly.
Speaker 2No, that rhymes, I think.
Speaker 1Yeah rhymes with exactly no. That rhymes I think yeah, no, exactly no. No, I thought it was too warm yeah, it was really warm.
Speaker 2Yeah, I went for a walk with sick child on my back yeah, I was yeah, it was really warm what about christmas?
Speaker 1what about, uh? You'll be here for Christmas. Yes, yes, sorry.
Speaker 2I shouldn't be putting things out like that to the universe? No, anyway.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Should we start this?
Speaker 1I think it's been half an hour.
Speaker 2Oh yes, Look, I can also join you.
Speaker 1Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. My name is Matias.
Speaker 2And I'm Lauren.
Speaker 1And we are gonna be your best friends for an hour or so.
Speaker 2At least yeah. Maybe the maximum of an hour.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Maybe a minimum. We'll see, we'll see how this goes.
Speaker 1Yeah, we never know how long these episodes are going to be.
Speaker 2We're not on a time limit. No, not really. We should be.
Speaker 1Maybe we should. Maybe we should have a time limit for.
Speaker 2We're going to have a timer, yeah.
Speaker 1For, like the warmups, it shouldn't be, longer than half an hour.
Speaker 2It shouldn't be longer than an hour. Okay, I think that's the maximum for each part. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1Yeah. Section should at least be an hour, yeah okay, yeah, I also want to tell the people that we have been talking for over half an hour before we started this 32 minutes yeah it's like nothing so it's gonna be a lot of cutting for for me poor you, yeah, are you gonna survive that? Um, maybe it's gonna get. Oh yes.
Speaker 2Looking forward to this. No, sorry, I thought I had a bruise. Have you noticed my scars?
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2This one gets itchy. Sometimes it's bigger.
Speaker 1Yeah, I only have this scar. That's my proudest scar.
Speaker 2Was that self-harm?
Speaker 1That was an accident.
Speaker 2Okay, accidental self-harm that was an accident, okay. Accidental self-harm yeah.
Speaker 1Okay, oh yeah, we were cutting apples, I think.
Speaker 2Ah dangerous.
Speaker 1Yeah and yep. Then that happened, mm-hmm. And years later my niece got a car door on her finger. Oh, my niece got a car door on her finger and she has a scar like almost exactly on the on the same finger as me, on the, and it looks similar. So we're scar buddies oh, twinsies yeah cute. That's like a special thing between me and her I have a hole in my leg. Yeah, heard about that.
Speaker 2Did you? Yeah, okay, I felt like sharing.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's cool. Do you like the hole in your leg?
Speaker 2It's just kind of there.
Speaker 1Has it always been there.
Speaker 2I noticed it when I was 13. I don't know how long it was there before I noticed it when I was 13, but I did notice it when I was 13.
Speaker 113. When I was 13.
Speaker 213.
Speaker 1How old were you? I was yeah.
Speaker 2Something like that, I guess, yeah, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1Matias, how are you? That's something I've been wondering this whole time.
Speaker 2The past 40 minutes yeah.
Speaker 1How are you really? You've been home.
Speaker 2I've been trapped at home for a week and that's how I'm doing. I'm okay. How are you?
Speaker 1I am good.
Speaker 2Good, what have we been up to this week?
Speaker 1That's a good question, and I know what we did last Saturday. We were celebrating me. Yeah, yeah. So we went to um place to eat some pizza, yeah and yeah, it was nice and you paid for all that I did and, um, yeah, that was very nice. That was like a birthday gift and and day gifts. And then we went to the car wash and we washed the car we did and then we went to a store and bought stuff, I think.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 1And then we went back to your place. Am I right? You are right, we and you know, back here, your place.
Speaker 2We went back here, yeah we watched movies we did?
Speaker 1we watched a jackie chan movie armor of god. 2 operation condor yes and then we watched another action movie called stone cold. Um, and both movies are from 1991. Yep, yeah, and we ate chicken lasagna here.
Speaker 2We did.
Speaker 1Still full from that one.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm, I bet.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, it was nice.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That was Saturday.
Speaker 2Yes, it was.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then Sunday what happened Sunday?
Speaker 2Last week, last episode, a sick child had gotten sick and he got really sick. He had a really high fever and a bad cough and he's pretty much had that since, or yeah, since last Friday, and he just started getting better, like yesterday. Hmm, so that's basically what I've been dealing with.
Speaker 1The entire week.
Speaker 2Yeah, I took a really chill day on Sunday. I wasn't feeling great energy-wise.
Speaker 1No, I feel like.
Speaker 2Emotionally.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Damaged.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And that was my Sunday.
Speaker 1Yeah, I didn't do much Sunday either.
Speaker 2Yeah, I spent pretty much the entire day editing, oh yeah.
Speaker 1On Monday, then I worked on Monday.
Speaker 2I'm just gonna break down my week really quick, because I mean I didn't do that much all week. I was home all week with sick child, catering to his fevers and medicating him, and when I got restless I started baking and it didn't turn out very great and yeah, that was my week, okay great, and yeah, it's that was my week, okay, baking with sick child and trying trying to be active, and yeah, it's just, I don't know. It hasn't been awful, though it hasn't been a bad week no but it hasn't.
Speaker 2It's not my routine no it's not. It doesn't feel normal.
Speaker 1And we haven't seen each other all week.
Speaker 2This is the first time we're seeing each other since last Saturday.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's very rare.
Speaker 2Yeah, we usually see each other at least once and my car has been acting up. My car has been acting up. The battery is having issues and apparently the back tire is smoking or something. Yeah, and it smells, so I haven't had a car all week either.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2So I've been stuck at home? Yeah, no car. I've been walking everywhere, mm-hmm. If I get to go somewhere, yeah, and that's my week.
Speaker 1Yeah, we also had car problems this week, so it's a great week for cars. I guess All cars are just breaking, I don't know. So, yeah, car problems at my place as well. I have been working all day, every day. Oh yeah, on Wednesday you went to the boxing thing.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, my oldest and I went to boxing and he seemed to enjoy it.
Speaker 1Good.
Speaker 2Yeah, we got a good workout out of it.
Speaker 1Yeah, I liked going there too, but I haven't been there since. I've been there once Two weeks ago. Well, last week I was sick.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Or recovering. So I didn't want to go this week. I didn't have a car, you didn't have a car, you didn't have a car, I didn't have a car. Right, it was too much trouble getting there and getting home, especially home part.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So I couldn't this week either.
Speaker 2And I don't know when I'm getting the car back.
Speaker 1No, so we'll see.
Speaker 2Thursday was yesterday.
Speaker 1Thursday yes, so that was a little bit special at work because for some reason the company just offered us lunch. Yeah, so we had two options, either um vegan or chicken. So I had the chicken.
Speaker 2What kind of chicken?
Speaker 1Uh.
Speaker 2Just a chicken, a whole chicken.
Speaker 1A whole chicken? No, no, it was.
Speaker 2I don't know what parts of the you either get a whole chicken or a whole salad. Was that it? Yeah, those were the options.
Speaker 1I guess so okay so, um, I uh, we got I don't know what parts of the chicken it was, but we got chicken parts and rice and stuff you know, rice and uh, some, uh you know like a sauce maybe yeah, sauce, and um peas and uh carrots, you know okay, what was the vegan option?
Speaker 1I don't know if because we we also got like um um a salad, okay too, but I didn't take the salad because I was like, okay, that's the vegan stuff, so so that's not for me. But then I saw like everyone else had the salad.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So I'm like okay, so that I guess that was for us as well. I don't know, I didn't think it looked that appetizing anyway. So.
Speaker 2I mean, what was the salad Just leaves and?
Speaker 1yeah, it was like carrots and it almost looked like a pizza salad.
Speaker 2Okay with carrots in it I'm glad I wasn't there. I would have been really upset yeah I mean, I'm always really upset when they try to provide anything yeah because it's never anything that applies to what I eat. So yeah, I know that I did have lunch when you guys were having lunch and my lunch was way better than yours.
Speaker 1Yeah, the difference is that our lunch was free.
Speaker 2Yeah, mine was leftovers. So it was kind of free.
Speaker 1Yeah, kind of.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was already made, so I didn't have to make it.
Speaker 1Yeah, and the funny part with this lunch was that we knew it was going to be a lot of people because everyone were going at the same time All people.
Speaker 1It's a lot of people yeah, and so we were worried about our table. So I I was like I'm gonna take my um lunch bag that I forgot the day before and take it to the lunch room. And I took the stuff from my lunch bag and put on one item at all the spots at the table and I sat at my place, you know, just guarding the table, until someone else came. And then I took my chance and went to stand in line. Standing in line wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, because I was like, okay, this is going to take like 20 minutes, but it didn't take that long.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So that was good, yeah, and I mean I didn't hate the food, but it wasn't the best.
Speaker 2It was very mediocre. Yeah.
Speaker 1But it was free.
Speaker 2Yeah, I guess that's okay. Anything else about that?
Speaker 1No, okay.
Speaker 2Yesterday I had a meeting. Oh yeah, with my potential adult school. What do you call it? Comb books? Yeah, a school.
Speaker 1University. It's not a university.
Speaker 2Definitely not. It's a school for adults.
Speaker 1Yeah, I guess kind of it's um a school for adults. Yeah, I guess community.
Speaker 2I don't really want to call it a community college because it's not a college it is. It's for lower levels than college, but we are adults anyway. School I'm going back to school.
Speaker 1Yes For adults. Okay, not with kids.
Speaker 2Not with kids.
Speaker 1No, okay With adults.
Speaker 2Okay, so it's.
Speaker 1It's not going to be a Billy Madison situation for you. No, no.
Speaker 2This is a school with adults, for adults.
Speaker 1Boring.
Speaker 2Yeah, boring. And I had a meeting with the guidance counselor.
Speaker 1Okay, which is what I'm calling. It Sounds very fancy.
Speaker 2Yes, and we put together a plan for me getting into the courses. I need to get my transcript from high school translated to the Swedish system Converted really. And I have two tests that I have to take to see what level I'm at in math and Swedish. Both of these tests are two hours long.
Speaker 1Okay, these tests are two hours long.
Speaker 2Okay, so I booked and of course, the only times that were best for me so I didn't have to take time off from work, were on tuesdays. Tuesday evenings it was like the only day they had evening times on tuesdays. Otherwise it was like between nine and two. I was like I took a week off already with a sick child. I don't really want to take more time off than I need to, but of course this is a legit reason, but I just I have to think about my department too.
Speaker 1Yeah, In a way yeah Well.
Speaker 2I care about them too.
Speaker 1You're going to get fired. I know.
Speaker 2No one cares. But, I care. I care about my department which is ridiculous. But yeah, I have these two tests. They're booked, I'm going to take them and classes start on the 24th. Yeah, that's exciting, yeah, but yeah, no. 24th yeah, that's exciting, yeah, but yeah, no, it it went well, it felt really good afterwards.
Speaker 2I was feeling really excited about studying again and she found a goal, a course for me to take within the higher education as a production leader in film. There's a course for that or a program, okay, and that's the goal. Cool, yeah, instead of project management.
Speaker 1But I guess maybe in a way they're kind of different so you're gonna get me when you become that, you're gonna get me into film.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah good maybe you should try to kind of sneak your way in as well.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Maybe try to learn something. Yeah, and today's Friday, mm-hmm, did you have a good day?
Speaker 1Uh, yeah, okay. I was working, so I don't know.
Speaker 2Anything exciting at work.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Cool Me neither. Nothing exciting at home.
Speaker 1No, I've been like in charge with the packing and the basement this week Okay.
Speaker 2So, that's cool.
Speaker 1Because I was like the only one from my group there, so I had to be in charge, but it worked well.
Speaker 2Was it stressful?
Speaker 1No, Okay, it wasn't much to do so.
Speaker 2Okay, good yeah. How about a weight update, matias? No, okay, it wasn't much to do.
Speaker 1So Okay, I'm glad. Yeah, how about a weight update, matias? No, I'm not going to do that.
Speaker 2Because you didn't do it last week, so I can decide that I'm not going to do it this week. I'm just going to say that I'm at the same amount that I was last week when I didn't want to say my weight update.
Speaker 1Okay, so hmm.
Speaker 2I'm still not saying I have not gained or lost any weight for a week.
Speaker 1Okay, since last week, I know the feeling.
Speaker 2Yeah, and that's that.
Speaker 1Yeah, what did we do today?
Speaker 2Nothing.
Speaker 1Nothing. We didn't watch movies, no, okay.
Speaker 2Would you like to take a break?
Speaker 1We can take.
Speaker 2Should we take a break?
Speaker 1Maybe we should take a break and movie on after the break.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think the second half is for movies. That sounds good.
Speaker 1Yeah, we'll do that, all right.
Speaker 2We'll be right back.
Speaker 1Yes, bye, bye-bye, hello.
Speaker 2Hello.
Speaker 1Hello, we're back. Yes, we are Okay.
Speaker 2Welcome back then.
Speaker 1Thank you.
Speaker 2To the second half, and now I'm going to say that it is Friday.
Speaker 1It is Friday. Friday, it is Friday.
Speaker 2Friday, February 28th. It's the last day of February.
Speaker 1That's wonderful.
Speaker 2Tomorrow is March.
Speaker 1Yeah, then I don't have to say that month name again.
Speaker 2February Until next year.
Speaker 1Oh yeah.
Speaker 2Or if you ever have to tell someone when your birthday is.
Speaker 1Yeah, I hate that you can say February, oh, yeah, or if you ever have to tell someone when your birthday is.
Speaker 2Yeah, I hate that you can say February yeah, february yes, february 28th yes, friday, and we watch movies.
Speaker 1We did we watch movies. Now we're German.
Speaker 2Would you like to movie on?
Speaker 1Let's movie on Movie on. What movies did we watch?
Speaker 2We watched Death Wish.
Speaker 1From 2018.
Speaker 2Uh-huh, and then we watched.
Speaker 1Should I say it or you?
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1I'll say it Drömkåken.
Speaker 2Yes, yes, from 19. From watched, should I say it? I'll say it drum koken. Yes, yes, from 19, from from 1993, that's my year. Yes, I'm gonna tell you about death wish. Yes, this is a remake movie. Apparently I haven't seen the original.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I watched the remake first.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I guess. And this one has Bruce Willis, and Bruce Willis has a wife and a daughter and, like a good amount of his movies, his wife ends up dying and his daughter is seriously injured, yeah, in a coma, and Bruce Willis is a doctor but he turns into a mysterious kind of a hitman for himself.
Speaker 1Vigilante, right, yeah, okay, I'm going to call it.
Speaker 2I'm going to call it a personal hitman for himself.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, and he looks for the people who killed his wife and his daughter the bad guys. And yeah. So instead of saving lives, he starts taking lives.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And that's it. I think that's all I'm going to say. What did you think about the movie?
Speaker 1I kind of like this movie. I did see the original before this one and I do like that one too. I mean, it is different stories, not different stories, but in the original he's an architect and he's played by Charles Bronson. Anyways, this movie is still good. I think it has a pretty good cast. I like the wife is played by Elizabeth Chu and she's good. I like her and the policeman.
Speaker 2You know the yeah, the, is it dea or something? The drugs police guy in breaking bad?
Speaker 1was in this movie.
Speaker 2Yes, dean norris did you say which one you actually liked better?
Speaker 1This one or the original.
Speaker 2Those are your options.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, in a way I kind of like this one a little bit better. But I mean, the original is good, but maybe I shouldn't spoil anything, but this feels more complete.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, I like this movie you did, I was into it Good, I enjoyed it all yeah, okay, okay, I like this movie.
Speaker 1You did I was into it.
Speaker 2Good, I enjoyed, yeah, I enjoyed it all. Yeah, yep, good.
Speaker 1Next, next, drömkåken Yep, the Dreamhouse, I guess would be a direct translation. And this movie is with Björn Schiff, the hooked on a Feeling guy. Third movie in a row with that guy, and this one he's a family man who buys a house.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That's it, no. And this house, it has secrets. It has from the previous owner and it's not in the best shape. It falls apart a little bit, it does yeah, and there are some bad guys also, kind of goofy bad guys though. So what do you think about this movie?
Speaker 2I feel like this movie is like a peek hole into my future. Yeah, because I've been wanting to get a house and it's been a little bit up and down. We haven't found the right one and it hasn't been the right time but I feel like my standards aren't always super high Because I feel like I wouldn't mind a somewhat broken down house.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I see it as a big project instead of like a burden you know a problem. And, yeah, I feel like whatever house I would settle for would be just like this one, where everything is falling apart.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Like, yeah, I can pick that, that's not a problem. And then the next thing and then the walls fall down and the floor falls through and everything.
Speaker 1Them bad guys, Joseph.
Speaker 2And they want something that's deep into the walls.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, so this is just a's deep into the walls.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, so this is just a sneak peek into my future.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I feel like maybe it's supposed to be seen as a warning, but I don't listen to warnings.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I say okay and go for it anyway.
Speaker 1Ah, challenge yeah.
Speaker 2No, that's supposed to be a warning, Like hmm.
Speaker 1I mean, when you look at the movie it kind of ends well.
Speaker 2Yeah, it does. I really like this movie, though. It was a good one. Yeah, I enjoyed it. It's funny.
Speaker 1This is the one I've seen most of his movies, though, because this one I really grew up on.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1This is a movie I've seen so many times and I think it's really funny. Yeah, I love everything about this movie. So and I mean this is my introduction to Björn Schiff's- Okay so that's what made me interested in watching the other movies.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm so yeah. Very cool.
Speaker 1Yeah, so we did like an opposite for you, that we watched this one last.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah. Anything else, I don't know. No, no, I don't think so. Okay, pretty good movies all right next part. Yeah, let's see. You said monday. What's the date on monday the second?
Speaker 1of march. Third, I think it's, I don't know. Third of march is monday and that's the 3rd I don't know.
Speaker 23rd of March is. Monday and that's the Oscars. So do you have a quick rundown on Oscar nominations and who's winning?
Speaker 1Okay, yeah, that's good. That's what we did last year. We did.
Speaker 2Wow, that's a good idea.
Speaker 1I came up with it myself last year did wow, that's a good idea I came up with myself last year. Oh yeah, so the oscars is the second, I think, and the third I'm I'm taking the day off. The third because I'm gonna spend the night so I lied yeah, no, um, it's just me confusing you, that that's all. So I'm sorry about that.
Speaker 1But, anyhow, okay, so now we have to look up what movies are nominated, because I don't know them. Should I ask Google? Yeah, the funny thing is I have probably not seen any of the movies, but that's what makes me such a good judge of these movies because I have not seen them.
Catching Up on Life
Speaker 2So we'll go through some of this year's nominated people. Yeah, and you're gonna tell me who wins okay, okay so the category is actor in a leading role. Yeah, the nominees are Adrian Brody from the Brutalist, timothy Chalamet from A Complete Unknown. Oh, yeah. Coleman Domingo for Sing, sing. Ralph Fiennes in Conclave. Is that a thing?
Speaker 1Did I say that right? Which one the name or the?
Speaker 2Both. Please correct me if I'm saying it wrong.
Speaker 1Okay, I think the actor's name is Ralph Fiennes. It says Ralph yeah, I know it's.
Speaker 2Pronounced weird. Yeah, they do it wrong, just so they know.
Speaker 1You can say Voldemort too.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, they do it wrong. You can say Voldemort too. Oh is that?
Speaker 1Voldemort yeah.
Speaker 2Okay, so Voldemort in Conclave, yeah, and Sebastian Stan in the Apprentice. I've seen that show.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2So who wins?
Speaker 1Sebastian Stan is playing Donald Trump, does he yeah?
Speaker 2Oh, that's a Trump movie, that's an actual. Oh, okay, why.
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 2Why do they need a movie giving him more attention?
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2Well, that's not gonna be it, I don't care if he did an amazing job.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Being a, I don't care no.
Speaker 1So I would. It was Adrian. Well, you know what I'm gonna go with Timothee Chalamet.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1Playing Bob Dylan.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, shut up.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2I'm voting for Voldemort. I really hope he has his Voldemort costume.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think so In this movie.
Speaker 2Yeah, okay, an actress in a leading role. Our nominees are Cynthia in Wicked.
Speaker 1Okay, what's her name? Cynthia.
Speaker 2Erivo.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know who that is, but Cynthia in Wvo.
Speaker 2Yeah, I don't know who that is, but Cynthia in Wicked yeah. Carla Sofia Gascon in Emilia Perez.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Okay, mikey, mickey Madison in Anora. Is it Mickey or Mikey?
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 2Cool. Why can't people have an Anora Demi Moore in the Substance or Fernanda Torres in? I'm Still here.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm going to go with Demi Moore.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1Just because I know her name.
Speaker 2You've met her. Yeah, I know her she was married to Bruce Willis. Oh, yeah, okay, I was originally going to go with Demi Moore, but since you already took her, I'm not going to take her, I'm going to go with. Cynthia more but since you already took her, I'm not gonna take her.
