Speaker 2:Roasty Toasty Ghost Hello.
Speaker 1:Hello.
Speaker 2:Do you want this episode?
Speaker 1:The entire episode.
Speaker 2:You're free to take it.
Speaker 1:Okay, oh, do you want me to talk? Yeah, yeah, should we to talk? Yeah, yeah, should we just start.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. If we can make this as quick as possible, that would be ideal, perfect. Would you like to open this up?
Speaker 1:Yes, cool, I'm going to open this up.
Speaker 2:Do that. It's hot.
Speaker 1:It's hot, hot, yeah, my monster isn't very hot. It's hot, hot, yeah, my monster isn't very hot, that's good. Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. My name is Matias.
Speaker 2:My name is Lorraine.
Speaker 1:We are gonna be your besties for an hour or so.
Speaker 2:We'll see.
Speaker 1:Yeah, probably less. How are you doing? I'm not great, no see. Yeah, probably less. How are you doing?
Speaker 2:I'm not great. No, okay, I have a cold. My oldest came home with a cold from first week of school.
Speaker 1:You know, kid germs. Yeah.
Speaker 2:And he rubbed it off on me. I'm really quiet, yeah, but I'm all stuffy and coughing and stuff, stuffy stuff. I'm stuffy and I'm not great. Okay, cool or not cool. Alright, how are you doing?
Speaker 1:I'm doing better than you.
Speaker 2:Right, you are.
Speaker 1:I feel just a little bit of a cold or something. I don't even know what it is, but it has definitely been worse this week and I'm better.
Speaker 2:Good, yeah, I'm glad that you're better than me. Yeah, okay, good.
Speaker 1:So should we talk about the week? We can do that a little bit, so Saturday.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I went to a party.
Speaker 1:You did.
Speaker 2:Yeah, my life partner had a friend who was having a surprise party, or the friend didn't know about it, but there was another friend who arranged it and the birthday friend was surprised. Yeah, and we played paintball, which was scary and exciting. We had a crawfish party, yeah, which was gross, but we all had fun.
Speaker 1:I think, I don't know, I wasn't there, no.
Speaker 2:Well, I was like the only sober person there. I was the designated driver and it seemed like everyone had fun.
Speaker 1:That's good. Yeah, I was home doing a lot of editing and, yeah, I was home alone. And then there were two burglars who no, I'm kidding, I don't know. Okay, could have been. Yeah, you never know, no, but it wasn't Christmas.
Speaker 2:So that doesn't happen late summer.
Speaker 1:No, that only happens on Christmas, so and then on Sunday? We only happens on Christmas, so and then on Sunday we went for a walk. We did.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then I went to gymnastics later that evening, oh yeah, and I felt like I hurt myself during warm-ups again, but it wasn't that bad. No okay, yeah, oh yeah. I got a like super headache. Afterwards too like super headache afterwards too it felt like my eyeballs were falling out.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, you, you told me about that yeah, it wasn't great. No, I got over it though yeah, so I I didn't do much on sunday, I think okay, more than the walk, okay.
Speaker 2:So yeah, monday I can shorten this a little bit for you.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:Because I started school this week, I had math class on Monday and Wednesday and I was supposed to go today, but I skipped it. Okay, I skipped it. Yeah, what is it? I can hardly hear myself.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:And then I had Swedish class on Tuesday.
Speaker 1:So Monday, that was the worst day for me.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:Because that's when I felt like I had a cold, yeah, but it wasn't that bad. I was thinking okay, here it comes, soon, it's going to be worse, but it never got worse for me, so I'm happy about that.
Speaker 2:That is good.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so you know it was scary because I thought it would be worse. Anyhow, I survived Monday and we did go for a walk on Monday.
Speaker 2:Right, and we went to the cinemas on Tuesday.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we did we watched Freakier Friday. Yeah, did we watched Freakier Friday? Yeah, that's a sequel to the 2003 movie Freakier Friday. And should we just talk a little bit about what we thought about the movie? Yeah, yeah. So what did you think about the movie?
Speaker 2:I really liked it.
Speaker 1:Good.
Speaker 2:There were a lot of comebacks from the first movie.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:It was a bit more complex.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Which I found kind of exciting, okay so yeah, yeah, I liked it too.
Speaker 1:The complex part you're talking about is that it's four people now who switches bodies. The thing is, I was at moments in the movie a bit confused. Who was who, you know? Okay, I'm like, okay, which girl is this now, and who is she supposed to be? So, yeah, that was a little bit confusing.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But I mean, I think I got most of it though, and um yeah, it was fun. I mean, I do love jamie lee curtis in these movies yeah both the first one and this one.
Speaker 1:She's so funny. I do prefer the first one, but this was funny and it was a good sequel. Yeah, it was you and me and my mom and my sister right, who went to the cinema. My mom wasn't a big fan, uh, you know, when asking her, but then the day after she was like, ah, maybe I was a little too harsh on the critique yeah, yeah, that's what we did on Tuesday.
Speaker 2:Yeah, monday we went for a walk in the woods.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And then Wednesday we went for a walk in different woods and then we found an outside gym.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And we got ice cream.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And that was really fun yeah.
Speaker 1:I enjoyed that. Yeah, it was close to my old school. Yesterday was.
Speaker 2:Thursday.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was close to my old school.
Speaker 2:Yesterday was Thursday.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was, and we did have our first movie night yesterday.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's right, we watched a movie yesterday, yeah.
Speaker 1:Should we just explain that you went to work today, so we didn't really have time for two movies.
Speaker 2:Right, I work today and I'm'm gonna work tomorrow as well, yeah, so I didn't want to be up half the night and then go to work no, exactly especially when I'm not feeling great so yeah would you like to move on?
Speaker 1:Let's move on.
Speaker 2:Okay, so yesterday we watched Mrs Doubtfire, yes, and today we watched Terminal Velocity, and since we saw Mrs Doubtfire first, I think that you should tell me about that.
Speaker 1:Yes, this is a movie with Robin Williams, Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, Matilda yeah, Matilda. Mara Wilson yeah, it's directed by Chris Columbus, who did Home Alone. Yeah, this movie is about a married couple with kids and the dad played by Robin Williams is a very irresponsible. Would you call it irresponsible?
Speaker 2:Childish irresponsible yeah.
Speaker 1:He's irresponsible in Sally Field's eyes. You know the wife.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So she wants to divorce him and that divorce makes things hard for him because he won't get to see his kids as much as he wants to. And the wife says that she needs, like a nanny, a babysitter. And he comes up with the plan to make himself that nanny an elder woman who he calls Mrs Doubtfire.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So he helps a lot with all kinds of things in their house. They don't really suspect anything.
Speaker 2:I think that's pretty good.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so yeah, that's what it is about him helping. He didn't help when he was a husband, but now that he's a nanny he helps a lot. Yeah, so yeah. What did you think about this movie?
Speaker 2:I really like this movie. I like Robin Williams.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I like a lot of his movies.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:You know, this is one that I haven't seen that many times though. Okay, so I didn't remember, like all the parts.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:Exactly, but I remember like all the parts. Okay, exactly, but I still really like it. It's really good. Yeah, I, I did catch the. Uh. They were looking for another nanny after they found out who robin williams was. They were going through a list of potential nannies and the last one was what was it? Assistant producer of the movie. I thought that was funny.
Speaker 1:Yeah, her name was there yeah.
Speaker 2:It was unfortunate that the actor wasn't the actual assistant producer.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:But it was a fun catch. Yeah, it was, and I was kind of thinking that when they crossed out the name I was like I wonder if that's part of the crew or something. Sometimes, they'll do that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they do, and I mean this movie makes references to, for example, Fiddler on the Roof.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:This is the movie I was thinking about when they sang Matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof. I'm like, where have I heard?
Speaker 2:that song before.
Speaker 1:But I think I did realize it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you did. You did, and you sent it to me, I think.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, Maybe I did. It's funny that you say you haven't seen this one as much as some of the other ones, because I think this is probably one of his movies that I've seen the most okay I do really love this movie I mean sorry.
Speaker 2:Aside from aladdin, I think that jumanji is my most seen okay followed by flubber.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah maybe night at the museum oh, yeah, I've seen that quite a few times too. Yeah, that one is also. Yeah, that's true. But yeah, I think this is the most watched for me, because I really love this one.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, it's a good one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean it's funny and it's heartfelt and everything.
Speaker 2:Well, talk about heartfelt. I mean that last court scene when he was telling them about how much he loves his kids and everything. I mean I could relate to that because I have trouble some days without my kids, as well, yeah, and if you're a parent and you don't? Relate to that. What are you doing? Yeah, I mean, that was one of my biggest fears when I was going through my divorce too was having days without my kids. Yeah, what are you doing?
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:I mean, that was one of my biggest fears when I was going through my divorce, too was having days without my kids.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And now I have them six days a week and I am super happy with that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, good movie though. Yeah, so that was that, and then we watched a movie today.
Speaker 2:Terminal Velocity yeah.
Speaker 1:Did you want to say it terminal velocity?
Speaker 2:yeah, this is a movie with charlie sheen. Yeah, uh, right, he, uh, he likes to jump out of planes. There was a girl who wanted to jump out of a plane with him, and so she did, but she jumped off the plane without him, yeah, or before him, and she splattered on the ground, yeah. And then she came back to life and brought charlie sheen along on a mission with something that had to do with gold and the kgb. Wait, is that right kg? Used to be used to be yeah it was a joke.
Speaker 2:I think that was it. Yeah, right. Yeah it was. What did you think about this movie?
Speaker 1:It's okay. No, I love this one. I love this one. I mean, I can tell you that this is my absolute favorite of Charlie Sheen's movies. It's such a good movie movies. It's such a good movie. I think it's so good because it has great action, a mystery, very suspenseful, funny, it has all those and I mean it's a spy story. I love the whole thing and I remember the first time I watched this one it was I was yeah, I couldn't take my eyes off it. It was so good and it had me on the edge of the seat and, yeah, I love this movie. That's why I think about this movie. What did you think?
Speaker 2:I also like this movie. Okay, I like the explosions. Okay, I like the explosions.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And the intensity of some of the scenes.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Like that last time that they were falling out of the sky and the girl was in the trunk of the car.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I had completely forgotten she was there. Oh, okay, I was like, why is he holding on to the car for so long? Yeah, like, let the car go, but she was in there so she was going to explode.
Speaker 1:That was the scene that I was so, so on the edge from my seat. It was so exciting.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:The first time I saw it. It's still exciting. I still get like goosebumps every time they just back out of the airplane.
Speaker 2:I wouldn't mind having this as a rewatch, though, because I'm not feeling well.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:So there could be some things I missed.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's all I have to say about that. That can be arranged.
Speaker 2:All right. Is that a threat?
Speaker 1:No, okay, no, that's a promise oh boy Alright, alright, anything else.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like to talk about directors, and the guy who directed this one is called Darren Serafian, and he is one underrated director. He has, in my opinion, done quite a few good movies that I really like, like what one movie is called road flower. I like that one too. I don't think we've seen another one that he directed yet, but this is the best one. I have to say that, though, but I really think he's very underrated director and I wish he was directing still, but I don't know. I saw an interview with him for not that long ago and it seems like he still wants to direct. It's Just that he doesn't get the opportunity to do so. Oh, and that's too bad. I really hope he can get back and do some movies or something. Would be cool. But yeah, darren Serafian, oh well, oh well. Oh yeah, he made a movie called Back in the USSR.
Speaker 2:That's the Beatles, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1:I mean it has the same title as the song Beatles song, but I'm not sure it's the same though Okay, I have that movie. I mean it's okay, but it's not maybe his best work, but it's an earlier movie.
Speaker 2:So All right.
Speaker 1:All right, I feel good about that. So now I'm done with movie on. Okay, we can movie on from. No, we can move on from movie on.
Speaker 2:All right, then would you like to take a break?
Speaker 1:Yeah, all right, we'll be what. Let's take a break.
Speaker 2:Okay, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1:Yes, we're back.
Speaker 2:Hello.
Speaker 1:Hello.
Speaker 2:Matias.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:What are we doing today?
Speaker 1:You're having a cold.
Speaker 2:That is true. Are we going to spend the second half listening to my gross cold noises? Yes, ew, are you going to help me?
Speaker 1:I'm going to try.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:And not.
Speaker 2:Not, you're not going to help me. Who?
Speaker 1:knows who knows. Okay, your nose.
Speaker 2:It's a hassle.
Speaker 1:Yeah, my nose. No, I will do my very best to help you, to try to help you.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:Okay, so I asked open eyes.
Speaker 2:Of course.
Speaker 1:I don't know why I almost said Google eyes.
Speaker 2:Googly eyes. Yeah, I mean that would be fun google eyes.
Speaker 1:That's the google one that's gemini. Yeah, yeah, that's google eyes googly eyes okay okay so what did you ask? Open eyes I asked how to cure a or, it wasn't really a question, but yeah, yeah, in a way, it's a crash course, yeah, and I think that this could be useful for lots of people. Yeah.
Speaker 2:I mean, I know that we've gone over allergies before but this is a cold.
Speaker 1:Yeah, this is cold.
Speaker 2:Burr Okay.
Speaker 1:Okay. So OpenEye says there's no cure.
Speaker 2:Oh, I'm gonna die.
Speaker 1:Yeah Okay, there's no cure for the common cold, but you can manage symptoms and speed up recovery by taking care of your body. Here's a practical approach.
Speaker 2:Okay, are one of these suggestions drinking four milkshakes in a day? Do?
Speaker 1:you think?
Speaker 2:will that help? Probably Okay.
Speaker 1:Maybe. Okay, we'll see.
Speaker 2:And we should ask that at the end.
Speaker 1:Yeah, if it's not one of the.
Speaker 2:Right If it doesn't already suggest drink four milkshakes in a row.
Speaker 1:Then it says one fries with that.
Speaker 2:Ha ha.
Speaker 1:Ha, ha ha. Okay, number one Rest.
Speaker 2:That's not happening.
Speaker 1:Your body needs energy to fight the virus. Sleep as much as you can.
Speaker 2:All right. Well, I'm going to be over here then, and you just keep talking.
Speaker 1:Okay, don't snore too much.
Speaker 2:You said snore, not snort. Oh, okay, yeah, sorry.
Speaker 1:It's okay. Number two, hydration, is that milkshakes Maybe Drink plenty of fluids. Water, herbal, herbal or herbal tea. That is up for debate yeah, so one of those I think it's a personal yeah opinion you decide and that in you is people listening to this I say herbal okay I do know that some people say herbal. Then I say herbal, herbal, herbal.
Speaker 2:Hairball tea.
Speaker 1:Yeah, hairball tea.
Speaker 2:I don't think so.
Speaker 1:Broths, broths, broths, yeah.
Speaker 2:I have to wear a bra to get better?
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's not happening A fluid bra Ew.
Speaker 2:What, how, huh, I don't know Ew what.
Speaker 1:How, huh? I don't know.
Speaker 2:Okay, is that a milkshake?
Speaker 1:Probably Broths. Am I saying it wrong or no, I'm good.
Speaker 2:I'm just hearing broth.
Speaker 1:Okay, but avoid. But yeah, broths and butts. No, avoid alcohol and caffeine. I drink too much coffee, sorry. No, avoid alcohol and caffeine.
Speaker 2:I drink too much coffee.
Speaker 1:Yes, they dehydrate you.
Speaker 2:Eat a can, mm-hmm Yay.
Speaker 1:Yay Number three.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Eat light, nutritious foods.
Speaker 2:Does that include milkshakes?
Speaker 1:I thought it was a lamp. Eat the light Milkshakes.
Speaker 2:You know. And milkshakes, yeah, like milk shakes. I thought it was a lamp. Eat the lights. You know, and milk shakes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so you can eat soups like chicken soup, fruits, especially citrus, and vegetables.
Speaker 2:Veggie tables yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, vegetables, avoid heavy or processed foods. Don't eat that.
Speaker 2:What's a heavy food?
Speaker 1:Lead. Oh iron yeah, iron Like spinach, iron, iron, iron Rocks.
Speaker 2:Hmm, you know that's the majority of my diet. It's rocks. I'm on a rock diet. I am on a rock diet. I'm trying to gain weight. Yeah, I'm trying to get stoned, you're funny, you're funny.
Speaker 1:Number four yeah. Over-the-counter meds for symptoms Stuffy nose.
Speaker 2:I got that. Check yeah what helps with I got that Check.
Speaker 1:Yeah, what helps with that is decongestants. Yeah, did I say that right.
Speaker 2:Decongestants Ah good. Today we're going to learn about decongestants. Yeah, oh, eg.
Speaker 1:EG. What's that? Eg Eggs, okay, uh, uh.
Speaker 2:Okay, wait, can I extra?
Speaker 1:Genitals, genitals. I think that's what it means. Okay.
Speaker 2:I was also going to say giant, but genitals works too, I think, in this situation. Decongestants yeah, you need some extra genitals works too, I think in this situation Decongestants.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you need some extra genitals.
Speaker 2:I don't think that's going to help me.
Speaker 1:No, okay so and pseudoephedrine Cool.
Speaker 2:Sounds like a Pokemon.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, of course, pseudowoodoo, pseudowoodoo. Okay, that sounds like it's a tree course. Pseudo voodoo, pseudo voodoo okay that sounds like a tree oh, is it?
Speaker 2:yeah, oh, okay, cool uh, can I see the word wow, that's a good one yeah you know what, don't bother pseudoephedrine cool, yeah, uh, nasal sprays oh, that's easier to say. Oh yeah, I have vapors Vapes, nose vapor, nose vapes.
Speaker 1:Okay, cool.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, so, and for a runny nose.
Speaker 2:I got that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you should.
Speaker 2:As I'm like protecting my nose with paper. You should treat Do tampons work.
Speaker 1:It doesn't say, but I think, so I'm going to shove a tampon up my nose. Yeah.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry. What'd it say?
Speaker 1:Antihistamines.
Speaker 2:Okay, yeah, I might have some of those. Yeah, for a nose.
Speaker 1:For a nose.
Speaker 2:For a nose.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm. Okay A runny nose. Oh, okay, a runny nose.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 1:Sore throat.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I got one of those.
Speaker 1:Okay, lozenges.
Speaker 2:Okay, you know what? The thing about cough drops or hans tableter, throat tablets?
Speaker 1:Lozenges.
Speaker 2:Lozenges, whatever you want to call them. They've never really done anything for me, I feel like, even when I'm done with it. I'm still hurting. Yeah, I don't know if it's like a long time effect kind of thing, like you have to have the entire bag before anything happens. It's never really done anything for me. Okay, are you upset?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I am. I'm trying to help you here and you're just shooting me down.
Speaker 2:Well, I have to be honest, right, I've been cool with all the other suggestions, just this one thing the open eyes are crying eyes.
Speaker 1:now.
Speaker 2:Crying eyes. Open crying eyes.
Speaker 1:Oh, I don't like that thought. Openly crying eyes.
Speaker 2:I don't like the idea of eyes being open when you're crying.
Speaker 1:It sounds painful.
Speaker 2:I don't like it.
Speaker 1:Close your eyes.
Speaker 2:If you're going to cry, please.
Speaker 1:Lozenges and warm saltwater goggles.
Speaker 2:Goggles.
Speaker 1:Goggles. No, you said it right, I said it wrong. Yeah, but I'm I'm just thinking if, if you had them as goggles, it wouldn't work with warm water especially salt water if they're in your eyes.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're supposed to be in your throat yeah I. I feel like I've tried it before. I know that I've made my life partner do it.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:He didn't like me for that.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, but he likes salt.
Speaker 2:He does, which is weird.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:But I think he was in a lot of pain. I don't think it helped in the moment.
Speaker 1:Did you like waterboarding or something?
Speaker 2:Yes, with salt water Hot salt water. That's what I did. I don't think he liked it. He said no.
Speaker 1:Stop it. I can't hear you Pour on some more, because I can't hear you Okay.
Speaker 2:Okay, gargling, which is weird. Yeah, do you like to gargle water?
Speaker 1:No, I have done it.
Speaker 2:It doesn't. It feels like I'm choking. I think yeah, kind of.
Speaker 1:I don't know, I don't know why I did it. It doesn't.
Speaker 2:I don't think it helps Not me, not that I have any experience experience of I mean maybe I should try it, because when I get a sore throat I get like it's really sore, like it hurts really bad. A lot of the times I can like hardly swallow anything because it hurts so bad. And that's what I had last night. It was like it hurt all night.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's definitely been worse than it is now, but yeah yeah, so if you have fever or pain, you should take tylenol or advil.
Speaker 2:These are american medications. Advil okay, it's part of a heavy diet.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's an anvil okay sorry, I was thinking of an anvil too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, it's Advil, which is not an anvil.
Speaker 1:But I was thinking the same thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, okay, anyhow, that's that. That's all it had for me. No Use meds as directed and not all at once, unless advised.
Speaker 2:So I shouldn't just devour the entire bottle of medication.
Speaker 1:Like they do in movies. They take the whole.
Speaker 2:The whole thing and just smush it into their face.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's how they do the movies I've seen people do it and sometimes they're okay.
Speaker 2:Weird yeah.
Speaker 1:Especially in America, where the meds are strong.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:In Sweden we don't have that strong of meds. Huh, I'm pretty sure that's what I heard. I never tried American meds, but Do you?
Speaker 2:want to start.
Speaker 1:Do you have some American meds?
Speaker 2:I have ibuprofen.
Speaker 1:Oh, ibuprofen.
Speaker 2:I also have cough drops.
Speaker 1:Hals, hals.
Speaker 2:With two L's.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but it's still hals.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Number five Right. Use a humidifier or steam. That's the computer thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the gaming. Yeah, okay, I should play computer games.
Speaker 1:I guess so.
Speaker 2:Okay, or get a humidifier.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Hmm, choices.
Speaker 1:Moist air can ease congestion and soothe your.
Speaker 2:Soul.
Speaker 1:Soul Soothe your soul that might.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's the word. I think that's what the word should be.
Speaker 1:Yeah, throat.
Speaker 2:That was very close.
Speaker 1:Soothe your throat.
Speaker 2:Or your soul.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that feels more poetic.
Speaker 2:Are you a poet now?
Speaker 1:Yes, I am All right, because I can't read.
Speaker 2:I'm a poet because I can't read oh my God, okay.
Speaker 1:Number six try natural remedies. Number six try natural remedies. Honey plus lemon in hot water can help soothe a sore throat and cough.
Speaker 2:That's tea. Oh, that's pretty much what I have. Yeah, that's true, it's lemon tea with honey.
Speaker 1:Yeah, ginger tea may ease inflammation and nausea.
Speaker 2:I was never nauseous I was on Monday, were you nauseous.
Speaker 1:I was Okay and that worried me. Yeah, I'm like is this gonna be?
Speaker 2:worse A lot worse. Yeah, I don't usually get nauseous when I have a cold, though.
Speaker 1:No, me neither. That's weird. Yeah, I don't know what that was on monday. Okay, so that was the six points, but it also says when to see a doctor okay fever over 101.3 of fahrenheit I don't have a fever. No, okay, or 38.5 Celsius.
Speaker 2:That makes more sense.
Speaker 1:Yeah, fever, overdose for more than three days, then you should I have to suffer for three days? Yeah, if you want to see a doctor, okay. So yes, all right, severe sinus pain or swelling?
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Then you see a doctor. Symptoms last longer than 10 days.
Speaker 2:That's so long. Why do I have to suffer for so long before anyone will see me?
Speaker 1:Because doctor says no, I don't want to see you. If you only suffered for a couple days, okay, no way, all right, trouble breathing or chest pain.
Speaker 2:I think that's the definition of a cold.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, so go see a doctor then.
Speaker 2:Every time I have a cold.
Speaker 1:Yeah, or cough with green or bloody mucus.
Speaker 2:Gross.
Speaker 1:Okay, that's when you should see the doctor. Okay, so that's what that was. Okay, so how not to cure a cold?
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Do you want to hear that too?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I want to know what I should not be doing, so I avoid doing that.
Speaker 1:It's a great question.
Speaker 2:It is.
Speaker 1:Knowing what not to do when you have a cold is just as important as knowing what helps. Here's what to avoid so you don't make things worse.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Number one taking antibiotics.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Why not? I don't know. Colds are caused by viruses, not bacteria.
Speaker 2:Are you sure? No, okay.
Speaker 1:Open eyes might be sure, but I'm not sure.
Speaker 2:Fine, I trust the internet.
Speaker 1:Of course, as you should. Yeah, always.
Speaker 2:Trust your internets. Yeah, that was a title, uh-huh.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that's true. Antibiotics won't help and can lead to antibiotic resistance or side effects.
Speaker 2:Not good.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:Don't want that.
Speaker 1:No, no, no, no. Okay, so number two overusing nasal sprays.
Speaker 2:I hate nose spray.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I was reading wrong, because I was reading over-suing nasal sprays.
Speaker 2:Why are you suing the nasal sprays?
Speaker 1:I don't know, because they wronged me I don't like them.
Speaker 2:I'm suing you nose spray because I don't like they're taking my kids um emotional issues yeah, exactly abuse. I bit myself while I said that, oh no. And it hurt really bad.
Speaker 1:Emotional.
Speaker 2:I am emotional over saying the word. Emotional because I took a chunk out of my mouth. It was an emotional bite. I didn't like it.
Speaker 1:It hurts the congestion. Sprays like oxymetazoline.
Speaker 2:Okay, whatever, uh-huh oxymerasolin Okay.
Speaker 1:Whatever Uh-huh, they work, but using them for more than three days can cause rebound. Congestion Makes your nose stuffier.
Speaker 2:That's not good.
Speaker 1:No, so don't do that.
Speaker 2:All right.
Speaker 1:Three, number three, uh-huh.
Speaker 2:Drinking alcohol or smoking. I don't do either of those.
Speaker 1:Good, because you shouldn't? Alcohol dehydrates you and can interfere with sleep and immune function.
Speaker 2:I don't really think that I'd want to be drinking right now. Even if I did that, I have tried that, though it doesn't work very well, does it no?
Speaker 1:just because I'm feeling I'm getting a cold and I'm like I don't want that, maybe I can, you know, kill it with the, kill the virus with with the alcohol that was my.
Speaker 2:Did you do that? I did Okay. When was that?
Speaker 1:Recently, no Monday, maybe, when I was 20.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay. So you got what? Some vodka and tried taking shots.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, something like that. It didn't work no.
Speaker 2:He just got drunk.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, and smoking, and even secondhand smoke.
Speaker 2:I don't like that.
Speaker 1:Irritates your respiratory tracts and slows healing.
Speaker 2:Okay. Number four pushing through without rest, we can jump over that one.
Speaker 1:Exercising or working hard while sick can prolong the cold or lead to complications like bronchitis.
Speaker 2:Bronchitis.
Speaker 1:Yay, I did it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, okay, so I'm going to get bronchitis.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, Okay yeah, that's for another episode.
Speaker 2:That's bad timing. Yeah, you better prepare.
Speaker 1:That's next week's episode.
Speaker 2:What to do when you get bronchitis.
Speaker 1:Yeah, how to cure it. Yeah, Number five taking too many meds at once.
Speaker 2:Like the entire bottle of ibuprofen, yep, okay.
Speaker 1:Combining cold medicines can result in accidental overdoses, that's not good. No, especially of acetaminophen. Yeah, that one Acetaminophen.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that one Acetaminophen, that's the one, or something.
Speaker 1:Yeah, something like that. It can damage your liver.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's not good either.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:You need that.
Speaker 1:Yeah. To clean the body To clean the house.
Speaker 2:To clean your house.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I use it as a sponge.
Speaker 2:Oh my God, you just rip out your liver and start scrubbing scrubbing the floors.
Speaker 1:It's very handy in the shower too.
Speaker 2:Okay, you take your liver out in the shower and clean your body with it. Yep, all right Interesting, but okay, I'm not questioning you.
Speaker 1:No, always read labels and avoid doubling up on ingredients. Okay, of the meds, I guess Right.
Speaker 2:Or baking.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, maybe. In case, you're making what is it called Sponge cake.
Speaker 2:Yeah, there is a thing called sponge cake.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:With your liver. Yeah, oh my god.
Speaker 1:I call it liver cake.
Speaker 2:That's disgusting. Keep going.
Speaker 1:Okay, number six, expecting a quick fix.
Speaker 2:Quickie fixie.
Speaker 1:Most colds take seven to ten days to clear up.
Speaker 2:Disappointed.
Speaker 1:Don't expect to feel 100% overnight. Why, even if symptoms improve, don't, don't I tell you.
Speaker 2:But I want to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but don't no. That's not how it works.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Number seven, ignoring symptoms that get worse.
Speaker 2:Oh well, I am like a professional at that. If I had hidden talents, that would be one of them.
Speaker 1:Ignoring.
Speaker 2:Ignoring symptoms. Oh, ignoring the check engine light and any sounds that the car makes. Oh, ignoring the check engine light and any sounds that the car makes.
Speaker 1:Oh.
Speaker 2:And anything that goes wrong with my body.
Speaker 1:Any lights on your body.
Speaker 2:Any lights on my body. Ignore it, it's fine, it'll go away soon. Oh, I feel a little bit lightheaded. It'll go over, it's okay, I'm fine. No, don't worry about me, I'm okay.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm just gonna Ugh. That was me fainting, by the way. Oh, okay, okay. The verbal audio version of me fainting yeah, okay, I was a little bit worried that you fainted today, because when I texted you and then I didn't get answer.
Speaker 2:I did not faint, I was doing dishes.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, faint into the dishes. I could have if I wanted to. Yeah, you didn't want to.
Speaker 2:No, it's wet.
Speaker 1:Yeah, fainting, that's because you want to Right, right.
Speaker 2:Because I mean candy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think I only faint when I have a, when you see other people having candy Right and I want some.
Speaker 2:It's my internal instinct to just faint, so I get a little bit of that candy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, so ignoring symptoms that get worse. A cold that lingers or gets worse may actually be something more serious, like a sinus infection or pneumonia.
Speaker 2:Sinus infections suck. Oh okay, I've had those before and it is the worst thing in the world Pneumonia. I might have had it before, I don't remember. I wouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 1:Then, okay, that was that those lists. And then you asked Am I gonna die, is Lauren gonna die from this?
Speaker 2:Okay, okay.
Speaker 1:So I'm really sorry you're dealing with something concerning. If Lauren is experiencing serious symptoms from a cold or any illness, it's important to have a healthcare professional evaluator. Cold symptoms typically aren't life-threatening, but if she's showing signs like difficulty breathing, persistent high fever or confusion, those Okay, two out out of three those would be red flags okay do you want to walk through the symptoms she's experiencing?
Speaker 1:I can help you figure out if it's something that needs more immediate attention. So then I Open Eyes. What symptoms is she having? I'm not sure what symptoms Lauren is currently dealing with, since you didn't mention them. Could you tell me what she's feeling? And then it asked about runny nose and sneezing and sore throat and everything.
Speaker 2:I have all of those.
Speaker 1:And then it asked me again what is she experiencing? Then I asked it what is she experiencing? Ah, I see, I don't actually have details about your specific symptoms, unless you share them with me.
Speaker 2:Why aren't you sharing with me?
Speaker 1:If you describe what she's feeling, I can help assess whether it's just a cold or something more serious that might need medical attention. Is she feeling more typical cold symptoms like sore throat or congestion, or is she having more? Concerning symptoms, let me know and I'll do my best to help.
Speaker 2:Say I'm concerned.
Speaker 1:I wrote I don't know and it says gotcha. So you're not sure what Lauren's going through right now.
Speaker 2:You really don't. No, I think that is the key point, right there.
Speaker 1:You don't know what I'm going through. No, you don't get it. Yeah, can you ask?
Speaker 2:about the milkshakes.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, Milkshakes.
Speaker 2:Will four milkshakes in a row? Help Lauren.
Speaker 1:Okay, drinking four milkshakes in a row is very unlikely to help with Lauren's cold. That's disappointing, and it might actually make things worse. Oh, here's why it might not help. Dairy can thicken mucus for some people, which might make Lauren feel more congested, though this varies person to person.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'm going to assume I'm not that person, exactly, yeah.
Speaker 1:Cold drinks can temporarily soothe a sore throat, but drinking several might chill her body too much or irritate her throat more.
Speaker 2:Oh, felt good at the moment.
Speaker 1:You weren't irritated. I was only irritated because I was getting full oh and I couldn't have any more high sugar content in milkshakes can suppress the immune system if consumed in large amounts okay, whatever so what will help with the cold Warm fluids? Five milkshakes, yeah, tea with honey or bras.
Speaker 2:Bras Okay. Tea with honey or bras, yeah.
Speaker 1:Rest staying hydrated. I mean, we already went through that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we don't need to say it again. All right, all right, fine. Yeah, we don't need to say it again, alright, alright.
Speaker 1:So verdict Unless Lauren just really wants a milkshake to cheer up four in a row probably isn't a good idea for her cold.
Speaker 2:Okay, but I will not be happy with less than four milkshakes.
Speaker 1:One might be fine as a treat, but it's not a remedy. Whatever OpenEyes knows nothing.
Speaker 2:Nothing AI these days. Yeah, so dumb.
Speaker 1:Yeah, back in our days, the AIs were so much better.
Speaker 2:Non-existent, exactly. Thank you for helping me.
Speaker 1:You're welcome. Did you have more?
Speaker 2:questions. No, can I go to bed? Is my question. I'm going to ask you don't have to ask, Open Eyes.
Speaker 1:It says no.
Speaker 2:Not yet.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:But thank you for informing me.
Speaker 1:You're welcome.
Speaker 2:And I feel like I've learned a lot today.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I did too. Okay, and then Open Eyes just decided to be stupid.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Because it gave the answer we didn't want.
Speaker 2:Right. So, as we near the end of this episode, would you like to tell me what is ruining your life?
Speaker 1:I'm not sure what's ruining my life actually.
Speaker 2:You're just perfect.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's what's ruining my life. I'm too perfect.
Speaker 2:As usual.
Speaker 1:What's ruining your life?
Speaker 2:My nose, my throat, that's pretty much it. That's it yeah, yeah, my cold.
Speaker 1:Okay, maybe I should look up how to, you know, make it better or something.
Speaker 2:We'll save that for another day. Okay, I'm all out of sips.
Speaker 1:So am I, and that means we're all out of episode.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Would you?
Speaker 2:like to wrap this up.
Speaker 1:I would love to.
Speaker 2:Me too. I'm so done with this.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Thank you for listening to this episode. It's been a lot of fun. I appreciate the patience dealing with me.
Speaker 1:Patience.
Speaker 2:Patience and being kind to me as I'm suffering.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I like that part.
Speaker 1:Are you talking about me or the listeners?
Speaker 2:Everyone. Oh, okay, you are included.
Speaker 1:I'm also a listener, I guess.
Speaker 2:You've been listening to me. I hope.
Speaker 1:Yes, I have. What did you say this whole time? You know, once in a while.
