SPEAKER_01:I'm saying that your handwriting was a lot worse than this when you first started writing.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and I'm saying, but not by much.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know. I'm gonna beg to differ. Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Who was in the toilet? That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01:Let's just scream in the bathroom. We sing loudly in the bathroom. You know how that is.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:You do that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I've heard you.
SPEAKER_03:Mostly in the shower.
SPEAKER_01:La la la la.
SPEAKER_03:Okay, or if I have to poop.
SPEAKER_01:When you know you're gonna be in the bathroom for an extended period of time. Yeah. That's when you start the karaoke.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and you know, make sounds, you wanna You gotta cover it. Cover the sound. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:In in school, we would uh turn on the water fountain faucets.
SPEAKER_02:Not fountain.
SPEAKER_01:Fountain. The one that you drink out of. No, that was outside of the bathroom. The sinks faucet, we would turn that on if we knew we were gonna do more than pee. Okay. That was our routine. Good. We didn't sing. No, I I it was either screaming or water faucets. Yeah. Solids. It's like the same thing.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. When it was really bad, I did the growling.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, geez. Okay. Getting really aggressive. Yeah. Okay. Interesting.
SPEAKER_03:Good topic.
SPEAKER_01:Good topic. Let's move on from that. Um shortest episode ever. We can try. Yeah, let's do that. Would you like to wrap this up? Sure. Alright. We should always start the episode by wrapping things up.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, well, what the heck?
SPEAKER_01:She just flipped me off.
SPEAKER_02:And that's the wrapping up side.
SPEAKER_01:Wrap it up. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:That's when she gets tired of me.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I'm already tired. Um, instead, can we can we open this up? Yeah. Because I need to I need this.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that's thumbs up.
SPEAKER_01:Thumbs up. I've had four hours of sleep.
SPEAKER_03:Me too.
SPEAKER_01:Faster than you're today. Not synchronized. I'm zooming into this.
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:Are you all out of sips? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Okay. So let's wrap this up.
SPEAKER_01:Shortest episode ever. Okay. Ready? Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. My name is Lauren.
SPEAKER_03:And my name is Matthias.
SPEAKER_01:And we are going to be your besties for the next hour or so. Hopefully less. I don't think we have that much to say today.
SPEAKER_03:No, maybe not.
SPEAKER_01:But this is the podcast that will teach you absolutely nothing at all.
SPEAKER_03:Nothing at all.
SPEAKER_01:Nothing. Why are we all here? Who knows? But we're here. So let's just deal with that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:There's no turning back. Actually, people can turn this off if they want to.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, but they can't turn it back.
SPEAKER_01:They can't take it back.
SPEAKER_03:Unless they go back, you know, to the beginning.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Then they have to listen to all of this all over again.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. But that's your fault.
SPEAKER_01:What's done is done. You can't unlisten.
SPEAKER_03:No.
SPEAKER_01:Right.
SPEAKER_03:True, true, true, true.
SPEAKER_01:Matias.
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:How are you doing?
SPEAKER_03:I'm doing um I'm doing pretty good.
SPEAKER_01:Cool.
SPEAKER_03:I'm a little bit tired. Oh my god, we're both tired. Yes. Yes, we are.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. We are recording on a Saturday afternoon, which is these episodes, they are just everywhere. Yeah. You know? Like there's no stable schedule anymore. No. It feels like.
SPEAKER_03:That's that's the past. That's in the past.
SPEAKER_01:Stability is a thing of the past. We are going on spontaneous and record whenever the heck you want.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Next week's gonna be another Thursday. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, so exactly a week ago was Saturday. When did we last record? It was a Saturday. Yeah. So on Sunday, because I already told you about Saturday.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Did we do the We didn't like Mad Libs? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And but on Sunday I woke up and my daughter was like, we are going to the mall. I was like, hmm, okay. So we dragged my oldest along because he also wanted to go. So he wasn't really dragged. No. But uh yes.
SPEAKER_03:It sounds more fun.
SPEAKER_01:I I guess so. He also went. Yeah. And so we went to the mall and um uh bought some things and argued most of the time. So that's basically what happened.
SPEAKER_03:I don't think I did anything on Sunday. Or did I?
SPEAKER_01:Did you?
SPEAKER_03:I did editing in like the entire night.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. You were up until four in the morning? Yeah. Crazy. Uh okay.
SPEAKER_03:Probably slept for most of the day.
SPEAKER_01:I get it.
SPEAKER_03:I think I wanted to start video editing, but I never I set it up but never started the actual editing.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. Yeah. Let's see. The rest of the week. I went back to the gym. I've been trying. It's not really helping my mood, but it's uh it's movement.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I've been going to school and I did work on Monday. And Wednesday?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Wednesday like midday. Mm. That's pretty much it. I don't think anything really that exciting happened.
SPEAKER_03:No. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Uh you work daytime.
SPEAKER_03:I work daytime and yeah, not much exciting happened for me either. Cool. Yeah. Not really that cool, but okay. I mean, it was good but not exciting.
SPEAKER_01:So Right. And then yesterday was Friday.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And we did watch movies.
SPEAKER_03:We did.
SPEAKER_01:And other things. But I think we're gonna talk about that in the second half.
SPEAKER_03:We should do that.
SPEAKER_01:We're gonna tell the adventures that we had yesterday.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Later. Yeah. Because I took the day off.
SPEAKER_01:Right, right.
SPEAKER_03:So we had uh movie day.
SPEAKER_01:Right. Movie morning.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We did watch movies.
SPEAKER_03:We did.
SPEAKER_01:Would you like to move on?
SPEAKER_03:Let's move on.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, so yesterday we watched Mad Max 2, The Road Warrior, and Night at the Museum 2, Battle of the Smithsonian.
SPEAKER_04:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. I have to go slowly to really think about what the title is. Yeah. So I'm gonna start with Mad Max 2, the Road Warrior.
SPEAKER_04:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:This is still a movie with Mel Gibson in Australia. And this time there's a little boy and other bad guys. And this strange guy who ends up being a form of a sidekick. I think he was my favorite character, which is saying a lot for this movie. Um and it was pretty much a war over gasoline. Yeah. And yeah. Mel Gibson saves the day.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Uh anything else?
SPEAKER_03:No, no, uh that's good.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. What did you think of this movie?
SPEAKER_03:This movie is better than the first one. It has a little bit more humor in this one. You can tell it's a bigger budget on this one. Because they have bigger set pieces, like bigger explosions and uh better action. And yes, I do like this quite a lot more than the first one. I don't know much about the people, just that Mel Gibson is in it. And uh it's directed by George Miller, who also directed the first one. This franchise isn't my favorite or anything, but this is a better movie than the first. Okay. This is one of the few uh sequels that are better than the first one. So what did you think?
SPEAKER_01:I guess it's better than the first one. And I I think I laughed a bit.
SPEAKER_03:Yes, you did.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:I know it is that.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. But I mean the whole writing thing is it feels very similar to the first one where people are just like, I don't know, saying random things and I don't know. It's just it just the whole thing is really confusing. And what am I watching right now?
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:The plot is also, I don't know, like, what is going on?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I mean it it's uh like a post-war po post post-nuclear war setting. They are fighting about the gasoline that's very limited now. Uh-huh. That's like currency almost.
SPEAKER_01:Also, why are we watching these?
SPEAKER_03:Because they're Mel Gibson and they're action movies.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. No, I was just wondering.
SPEAKER_03:They're a big deal in Mel Gibson's career. Okay. Because those shot him to stardom.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. Alright.
SPEAKER_03:Literally. They they actually did. Okay. Yeah. And they're really big deal in his career.
SPEAKER_01:Alright. Then I know. Yeah. Anything else? No. Did I like it? Yeah. Slightly better. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Good.
SPEAKER_01:I still don't want to watch it again. Okay. Alright. Next one then?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Next one is Night at the Museum 2. Battle of the Smithsonian. This movie is the sequel to the first one. They're back, most of them, but this time some of them are gonna be moved from the previous museum to the Smithsonian. Just to be stored away. Something happens and Dexter, the monkey from these movies, he steals the tablet that makes them come alive and uh takes it with them to the Smithsonian. All the things in the Smithsonian they come to life. Ben Stiller has to save the day from the bad historical figures? Yeah, bad wax doll. Okay. That's what he is, really. I guess. We also get new characters like Amy Adams plays Amelia Earhart. A lot of the office people.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, there was Ed Helms. Ed Helms.
SPEAKER_03:Craig Robinson.
SPEAKER_01:Uh-huh. And it's her. Mindy Kaling.
SPEAKER_03:Ah, okay. I like uh her. Her I said it really weird too. Yeah, you know her. And also talking about new people. Bill Hayder plays Custer. General Custer. Right. You know who I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01:From the movie. Yeah. I don't remember him from history books.
SPEAKER_03:No, okay. Yeah, we see Napoleon.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I don't know who plays him, but someone.
SPEAKER_01:He was there.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And Al Capone.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. John Bernthal, I think, played him.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Ivan the Terrible. Yep. I think he was played by Christopher Guest. Okay. The Jonas brothers.
SPEAKER_01:They were the Cupids.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Another Teddy Roosevelt. Oh, yeah. Who was also Robin Williams.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Kind of funny.
SPEAKER_01:Except he was just a bust.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. No arms. No, he was a little bit grumpy and sad.
SPEAKER_01:I get it. I think I'd also be grumpy and sad if I didn't have arms or a body if I was just a big or a horse. Yeah. I'm already upset I don't have a horse.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Should probably just be happy with what I do have.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Arms.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, arms and legs. Okay, so that's about it. Yeah. Oh yeah, by the way, the bad guy is played by Hank Asaria.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:So what did you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_01:I like this movie a lot as well. I don't want to say even more, but a lot.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Because the second one feels a lot like really exciting. But so did the first one. I don't know if I could rank them.
SPEAKER_03:No, it's difficult. It's really difficult with these, especially the first two. Because the first one has this special uh feeling to it in a way. And the second one is more like, like you say, more exciting, bigger scale and more. Yeah, more of everything, and it has so good music. I love the music. Yeah. Oh yeah, and I really think Jonah Hill was funny also as the Brundon.
SPEAKER_01:Brundon. His name is Brundon.
SPEAKER_03:Brundon. Not Brandon.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. So yeah, I really like this one too. I like both of them for different reasons. The thing that I feel is missing from this one, it's a lack of Robin Williams. Right. I would have loved to see more of him in this.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And I feel like the special effects could have been better. Oh. Because they I don't know, they were lacking a little bit in certain parts.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Looking a little too uh animated. But that's okay. Yeah. I I can let it slide. Yeah. Because the movie itself makes up for it. Yeah. But yeah, that's what I had to say about that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. So this is a good movie. It is. And I also think at the beginning it's a little bit like over the top, you know, with the infomercial thing and everything. When I first saw that, I'm like, no, what what did it do? Yeah. But then it picks up and gets much better.
SPEAKER_01:But that was like a typical infomercial. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I I know, but uh I didn't like it. No one else movies.
SPEAKER_01:No one liked any of them.
SPEAKER_03:No, no, but I felt like it shouldn't have been in this movie at all. Okay. That was my absolute first feeling about when I first saw this movie. Yeah. I was so worried that the movie would continue to be that cheesy and there's another one after this. Another one? Yeah. Yeah. Uh a third one. Okay. For next week.
SPEAKER_01:And that's all? Yeah. Okay. Oh no how many they made. No. At least three though.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, they made three. I think they made like an animated movie. But I think they stopped making the live action movies after Robin Williams died.
SPEAKER_01:Right. Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Because that was the last movie he made, I think. Okay. No. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Is that the end of Robin Williams?
SPEAKER_03:I do have a couple movies more with him that I would like us to see.
SPEAKER_01:Are they on the list?
SPEAKER_03:Uh not yet. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:So this is So you're gonna fix it. Maybe. Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Maybe. It it depends. Because I also have um secret plans.
SPEAKER_01:Secret plans. Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Alright. Okay then. Is that all for this movie?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Would you like to take a break?
SPEAKER_03:I would like to take a break.
SPEAKER_01:Let's do that. Super quick episode. Yes. We'll be right back. Yeah. Bye-bye.
SPEAKER_03:And we are back.
SPEAKER_01:You're back already? Okay, I guess we're back. Hi. Hello. Alright, so yesterday was Friday. Yes. Today is Saturday. And we went on adventures yesterday. Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_03:This this uh entire episode is gonna be like a week recap.
SPEAKER_01:It really is, uh, with the second part dedicated to just yesterday.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We went to Stockholm.
SPEAKER_03:We did.
SPEAKER_01:To do what?
SPEAKER_03:We went to see Volbeat. That was the end destination.
SPEAKER_01:Right. So basically what happened was you came over, we watched a couple movies, and then we took the car to the train station, right?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, to yeah, to a bigger city, not Stockholm.
SPEAKER_01:Not Stockholm. And then we parked in a parking garage by the train station. And we had pre-ordered some lunch to be ready by a specific specific time. But we were early. We were like an hour early.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So uh we went to the glasses shop.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_01:And uh all I wanted to do was buy a pair of sunglasses because I managed to break my last pair of sunglasses and we stood there waiting for someone to assist us for 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_03:At least.
SPEAKER_01:Half an hour. I don't know. It was a long time, it was unnecessary.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And all I really had to do was pick up the sunglasses I wanted and go buy them.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Pretty much. But the thing is that the reason why I waited was because at the glasses shop that I usually go to, what they have on display is just display. They have more out back. And that's the one that you buy.
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Not the display. But apparently they only had displays. Oh, yeah. For sale or whatever. So it we could have spent a lot less time there, but whatever.
SPEAKER_03:We had time to kill.
SPEAKER_01:We did, but hanging out in the glasses shop wasn't fun.
SPEAKER_03:No.
SPEAKER_01:No. Nobody wanted to help me. No. I was a sad person.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, it I mean, we started like waiting, be good people waiting like like normal people. Then we started like uh goofing off and and yeah, be silly.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, complaining loudly.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:No one's helping me. Uh yeah, but I eventually did get sunglasses.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And not cheap. No, they were on sale.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, a little bit.
SPEAKER_01:A little bit. Mmm. And then we went to have lunch and the food was not ready on time. So I started stressing out a little bit. But uh I came to find out that we had plenty of time. We didn't have to rush. So we could calm down there and eat our lunch.
SPEAKER_03:And I had two hot dogs.
SPEAKER_01:You did. And I had a cheeseburger in a bowl without the bun. So it was a cheeseburger salad. Yeah. We we ate our strange orders.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and then we had milkshakes. We did. I had milkshakes with bacon in it. And it was a little bit weird.
SPEAKER_01:You had the chocolate and bacon.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I like the bacon in the milkshake. Yeah. I did not take bacon in my milkshake. I just had chocolate and peanut butter.
SPEAKER_00:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Mm-hmm. It was okay, but um a little bit weird.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. It's gonna be weird at the first time. Then we went to the train station. We did. And we caught a train.
SPEAKER_03:Yep. It was a nice train.
SPEAKER_01:It was a nice train. Uh it was very packed at first, but then people got off and we could find seats. Yeah. Um, and we rode the train. Yeah. All the way to Stockholm. And then we got to Stockholm. And then things got really fun because I couldn't find the next train.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, no, no.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, we went to a train track and then I said, no, this is the wrong one. So we turned around and we took a big circle right back to the same train track.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and then because there were was also one on the other side, and I thought it was that one, but it wasn't that one either. I mean, we expected us to get lost.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. But the thing is that we were going to the completely like wrong kind of train.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And I kept dragging us to the wrong kind of train.
SPEAKER_03:We wanted to the subway.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. We wanted to go downstairs, and for some reason my brain wasn't computing.
SPEAKER_03:No. And mine either.
SPEAKER_01:I figured it out and we got on the right train.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, right track.
SPEAKER_01:The right track. Like trains. Yeah. We we got to the subway, is what I mean. Yeah. Because that's not a train. It's a it is a train, but it's an underground train.
SPEAKER_03:It's a subway. Not a sandwich.
SPEAKER_01:No, it's not a sandwich. My kids and I went to subway after we went to the mall, though. Okay. That was a sandwich. Anyway. Anyway. So we found the train, we got on the subway, and we made it to our destination, right?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_01:The Globe?
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:And we got off the subway. Really fun content.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We got on the subway and then we got off the subway.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that's true. But then we also stalked a lady.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah, we saw a lady with a giant volbeat patch on the back of her jacket, and I assumed she was going to the same place as we were. So we decided that it would be really smart to follow her.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Wherever she's going, we're also gonna go.
SPEAKER_03:The problem was that she stopped to buy uh the earplugs earplugs.
SPEAKER_01:Earplugs.
SPEAKER_03:And um so we had to stop too.
SPEAKER_01:We had to stop and wait.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, we like kind of kept walking.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And then we stopped walking when she was like kind of out of sight. And then when she passed us, we followed her again.
SPEAKER_03:We waited for her to like pass us. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Uh but yeah.
SPEAKER_03:We're not creepy. No. We're not creepy people.
SPEAKER_01:Well, we didn't creeple? Creepers. What? No, okay. No. Um, she did lead us to the right place. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:It wasn't that difficult in hindsight. Yeah. It wasn't.
SPEAKER_01:And then we stopped and listened to music outside a bar.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. They were playing bowl beats.
SPEAKER_01:They were. So we had to stop and listen, and then I didn't want to stand anymore, so we sat and listened instead.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But I saw people started going into the venue. So and that's when things got complicated.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And frustrating. Yeah. Because it didn't have to be complicated at all. So w we went through security and they were looking in my bag, and I have this thermos. It's a nice thermos. It has a straw. Anyway. Important details, okay?
SPEAKER_03:Yes, good content.
SPEAKER_01:Um, so the security guy said you can't take this in the venue because you might throw it. Like, I wasn't intending on throwing it.
SPEAKER_02:No, I want to keep it.
SPEAKER_01:I want to keep it.
SPEAKER_02:That's why I was like have it with me.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. So I was like, okay, well, what are my options now? He's like, you can either throw it away or you can store it in a storage box. I was like, okay. He said, there might be storage boxes in the mall right there. So there was a mall right there. And uh so we went in.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, we went through the mall and found like security people there.
SPEAKER_01:More security people.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And they said there might be storage boxes over there. He didn't say two stories down. He said all the way over there.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Like, okay. So we went two stories down and we found a storage box, and I was like, I might as well just leave my whole bag there, whatever. And uh so I rent I pay to rent this box. I mean it's not that much. It's like 29 crono.
SPEAKER_03:An hour.
SPEAKER_01:An hour. Well, 29 just to open it for the first time, and then 29 per hour after that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. So But you got it for an hour.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:You didn't need it for an hour.
SPEAKER_01:I think the first hour was free.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, okay. But you had to pay 29.
SPEAKER_01:I paid 29 when I opened it, but when I went back to open it again, I didn't have to pay again.
SPEAKER_00:No, no.
SPEAKER_01:So I'm assuming the first hour was free. Anyway, yeah, I had to go back because we kind of thought, what if we can't get back into the building after the concert? Yeah. We had to ask someone when the place closes. It closed at 10. And this the concert was supposed to go on until 11.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So if we got out of the concert and tried to go back to the bag, we wouldn't even get into the building.
SPEAKER_03:So luckily we asked.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah, but this was like it felt like five laps around the place. Oh just like running back and forth.
SPEAKER_03:We had to find people.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, the people kept walking around. Why do security guards walk? Yeah. They sit they're supposed to guard and secure, like stable in one spot. Secure them into the one spot where I know I can find them.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:No, they're walking around because they need exercise or they're bored, or I don't know what security guards do. But FICA. FICA. They get coffee, I guess. Which I mean, that's a nice job. I want one of those jobs too. But in that case, I'm gonna stand in one spot because I don't want to go anywhere.
SPEAKER_03:I'm gonna stay at the fika place.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm gonna guard the fika.
SPEAKER_02:I'm the fika guard. FICA guard.
SPEAKER_01:Anyway, so after it felt like we had been pacing the place a hundred times, we went back down, got my bag out of the storage box, and we decided to go for plan B with this thermos. Just kind of hide it somewhere and pray no one steals it. Risky. Yeah. But this concert cost more than the thermos.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and we were both excited to see this concert.
SPEAKER_01:We got these tickets in March.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So, like many months before today. And so we're not gonna miss it.
SPEAKER_03:No.
SPEAKER_01:Over at thermos.
SPEAKER_03:There's no way.
SPEAKER_01:No, I'm not gonna turn around and be like, okay, well, that that was that. I'm not going in. I can't go in because my thermos is.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, they're not letting my thermos in, so I'm not going.
SPEAKER_01:No. I don't leave my thermos anywhere.
SPEAKER_04:No. This is my It's my guard thermos.
SPEAKER_01:Guard thermos. It's my what are those uh like uh dogs?
SPEAKER_03:Seeing eye dogs.
SPEAKER_01:It's not a seeing eye dog. The therapy dogs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:It's my therapy thermos.
SPEAKER_01:Therapy thermos. Yep. Can't go anywhere without it. I mean, what if I go somewhere and want coffee or like a beverage of some form? I can't carry it.
SPEAKER_03:They had free water in there.
SPEAKER_01:Right. I could have filled it. Yeah. Filled my thermos with water. No. They weren't concerned if there was anything in my thermos. They were concerned with the fact that it was a thermos. Yeah. Anyway, this is way too much.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Too much talk about my thermos.
SPEAKER_03:Okay. Yeah. It was a big deal though.
SPEAKER_01:It it felt like a big deal. It was a big deal over something so freaking small.
SPEAKER_03:It wasn't a big deal, but they made it a big deal.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Like throw it away or lock it up and never get it back ever again.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. I mean, it's like with the Green Day concert.
SPEAKER_01:They I Oh they stole your monster can.
SPEAKER_03:I had your can. You wanted to keep that can, and they made me throw that away. Because I couldn't take that with me.
SPEAKER_01:That's so weird.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But you know what? I'm sure there's reason behind it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Anyway, back to the story.
SPEAKER_00:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:We we did hide the thermos somewhere and prayed for the best and got into the venue.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Then we found our receipts. Yeah. Then we what?
SPEAKER_03:Uh no, uh when we got there, we just took the first uh like door we could see.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah, that's right. It was like, I'm assuming this is how you get in. They're like, no, you're going through the wrong door.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, the the funny thing is that you tried to scan the thing and I just ran straight through
SPEAKER_04:Because I thought it was- Yeah, I thought it was gonna open, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So you like punctured your internal organs trying to get in.
SPEAKER_03:I just have the one lung now.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, okay. It was a lung. Alright.
SPEAKER_03:I'm I'm I'm fairly sure it was a lung.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. So yeah, we didn't get into that part. We had to go around the building.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, like the furthest way.
SPEAKER_01:It felt like it was the furthest.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But we could get through that door.
SPEAKER_03:We could.
SPEAKER_01:And then we found our seats.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, they didn't uh uh even have a lung breaker at that.
SPEAKER_01:No, they were just like, yep, that looks good. Bye. Like, alright. Uh we found our seats and then we realized, oh, we forgot t-shirts.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Are we getting t-shirts? Yeah, we're getting t-shirts.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, so we had to go out to the merchandise table. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. We found it.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. And we got us some shirts.
SPEAKER_01:We got matching t-shirts.
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:And then we went back to our seats. Yes.
SPEAKER_03:And then we realized it's it was really we had to wait really long until the music started playing.
SPEAKER_01:Right. So then you kept asking if we should get snacks. I'm assuming you wanted snacks. Like, should we get a snack? Should we get a drink? Should we get something?
SPEAKER_03:I just wanted to kill time, really.
SPEAKER_01:Eating.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So then you gave in and you went.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I did. I went Tell me about that. I went and I um uh then I went to the um to look at the prices and I'm like, that's it's so high. No, it's not worth it. Okay. Uh so to kill time. Yeah, no, yeah, I I mean I would have been nice with something to drink and eat, but uh I not for those prices. No. Um so I didn't buy anything. I just went back. And there are like people outside that door and they see m first us and then me like going back and forth. They're like, can't can't they ever we can't sit still. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:No, no. So we sat and we waited for a while.
SPEAKER_03:We did.
SPEAKER_01:And then the first warm-up band came on. Witch Fever. Uh, a British female heavy band. The thing about the warm-up band was that the sound system was really weird. It wasn't adapted to the amount of people who were actually there. It was adapted more for the place being packed because the sound echoed. There weren't that many people who were there already for the warm-up bands. Okay, so other than the sound issues, what did you think about the first band?
SPEAKER_03:I mean, they were okay. Uh wasn't the biggest fan, but uh I mean I guess they're they were good at what they did. I and like you said, uh maybe I uh I shouldn't judge them because of the sound system. So yeah, I uh as of now, I don't think I'm gonna listen to them. Uh you know, not that big of fan, but uh uh sure, they were good, I guess. Okay. Um yeah. And yeah, like you said with the echo thing when she was talking.
SPEAKER_01:Just regularly talking.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I couldn't hear anything, and you were laughing, and I'm like, what are you laughing at?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was like really difficult to hear, but I caught some words.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. I heard when she said Volbeat, and I'm like, oh, I know them. I know I'm I'm waiting for them.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Are they on now?
SPEAKER_03:When?
SPEAKER_01:When I enjoyed the first band. What I kind of heard of them. The sound was a huge issue, but I think it's nice seeing like all female hard rock bands.
SPEAKER_03:Yes. And I want to just say that I'm not it's not like I'm against that.
SPEAKER_01:The fact that they were female?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, like uh uh it's not like um You only like man bands. No, because um I I just uh wish that uh they would have had more melodic m you know mm mo music with melody in it. Yeah. Or because to me most of it just sounded the same and uh I didn't really hear a difference between the songs.
SPEAKER_01:But that's another thing about because it was a huge sound thing because the instruments were also bouncing all over the place. So it did sound like one big wall of noise just coming at you. But I think if you end up listening to the album, you'll like be able to hear the differences.
SPEAKER_03:If you do and you find a song that you think would I would uh like, please send it to me and I will listen and I might give them a chance.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, we'll see. Their next album comes out on Halloween. Yeah. So let's see if I remember. Yeah. Uh and then we saw Bush. Bush. An all-man band. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And to be honest, I'm not I wasn't a big fan of them either. Okay. Uh I might have heard a little bit more difference in the songs there. But um yeah, I guess I could like uh nod along to some of them. But no, yeah, I mean uh no not nothing special really.
SPEAKER_01:When I went in, I knew that I had heard of the band, but I did kind of look through Spotify before we went and tried to see if there was a song that I recognized, but I I only went by the titles. I didn't actually listen to anything. So I assumed, you know, I I haven't heard anything. Okay. And I ended up recognizing at least a couple, maybe two, maybe three of their songs.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Uh I also thought I had heard about I think I've heard about them, but uh and I'm like, I'll we'll see if I recognize any of the songs. Turns out I didn't. I did not.
SPEAKER_01:There was also a sound issue with that one. Yeah. As I mean, the room was filling up, but not quite enough for the sound to be absorbed. But then we had Volbeat.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that's Are you disappointed? No. No, I was gonna say that was like way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way better. Okay. That was uh that was they they uh set the standard much higher than that once. Yeah uh i it's similar to uh to Green Day with the the one because they were so much better. I mean Weezer was also kind of good.
SPEAKER_01:I did enjoy Weezer.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Weezer. I liked Weezer too. So but uh then Green Day was even better. Amazing. Yeah, and the uh I mean here it was Volveit amazing.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Top notch.
SPEAKER_01:I think that's how it's supposed to be.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, the other ones lower medium.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. The band was good and the set list was good, and they sounded really good, and they like uh interacted with the audience and everything.
SPEAKER_03:They were funny. They were funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:There was a point when they brought the kids in the audience up onto the stage. I wanted to go up there. Why didn't I bring my oldest or something?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, I wanted to go up there.
SPEAKER_04:I know uh wouldn't that have been funny if there's there's a bunch of because he said if you think if you feel like you're young, you can come up and uh a bunch of kids and the uh bald man, yeah, the balding man be there.
SPEAKER_01:That would have been kind of funny. Yeah. I love his voice, he has a really cool voice, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Very much so. So cool. It's my favorite band. Uh and yeah, I I I sang along to all the songs, even the ones I didn't know the lyrics to. I I knew the melody and uh just uh uh hummed away. Yeah. It was really good. Did you have like any top mo moments of their performance?
SPEAKER_01:Noise. The noise? There was noise. Yeah, okay. That was the best part.
SPEAKER_03:No, you know the noisy part. I love the I do.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, so I was really excited about Heaven or Hell. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And it sounded like a lot of people who were uh Yes.
SPEAKER_01:That one, and I don't know. I don't know. I mean the set list was so good. I I liked all of them. Yeah. Really.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and the uh that's the oh I'm Are you okay? Yeah, it was just my finger. That's just lost a finger. Yeah, it's okay. Uh I have nine more. So um the thing is that uh with a band like Volbeat, uh you still have songs that you really like that uh wasn't on the set lists.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Uh that you also want to hear.
SPEAKER_01:So I don't think I had any. Well, I haven't been listening to uh Volbeat nearly as much as you have.
SPEAKER_03:No.
SPEAKER_01:But um I think they played all the songs that I like.
SPEAKER_03:Okay, that's good.
SPEAKER_01:I haven't really wandered too far into their albums. No. I should, and I I've always known that I should, but I didn't.
SPEAKER_03:Okay. Yeah, I know a few songs I would have liked to hear too. But uh I'm I'm happy. They they did like most of the the songs I like, and uh yeah, some of the songs uh I uh don't know as well, but still good songs. And new songs. Yeah. I really uh I like some of the new songs too. And uh I mean i it's uh funny because usually their music uh grows on me, so uh if I don't care for it that much the first time, if I s listen to it again, it it's like oh it's actually a pretty good song. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I know other songs that are like that, yeah or other bands that are like that for me. Okay. But yeah, yeah, that was Volbeat.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Did I have a specific moment? Did you? Did I? I mean Furry of It is a very special song to me, and uh I love that song and it's it was really nice. And to hear the singer Michael sing in Danish was really cool. Yeah. Because uh in the in the song in the recorded, you know in the recording. The recording, there's another guy singing the Danish parts. So now to hear him sing the Danish parts was really cool. And he also talked Danish.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, he said something.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know what he said.
SPEAKER_03:I'm not sure either, but uh it's cool to hear hear them uh talk in their native tongue.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Sadman tongue.
SPEAKER_01:Sad man's tongue.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We sang a little Johnny Cash.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Which was fun.
SPEAKER_03:And they admitted that they stole from Johnny Cash.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes, they did. All in all, it was a good time.
SPEAKER_03:Very good time. I loved it. Good.
SPEAKER_01:So did I.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. And then uh we We left? We left, and you went to your hiding spot.
SPEAKER_01:It was still there.
SPEAKER_03:It was still there.
SPEAKER_01:Got lucky.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and it was kind of funny because you were sitting down for like a second to pick that up.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, totally not looking sketchy like I'm stealing something that I saw under the bench.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah, or i it kind of uh looked like a drug deal. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:You know, it was a really quick drug deal with the ground. Uh I traded drugs for my thermos. They allowed drugs in.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. No problem, but not mugs.
SPEAKER_01:No, no thermoses allowed.
SPEAKER_03:No thermos.
SPEAKER_01:No metal drugs, though. That's okay.
SPEAKER_04:Drugs, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, go ahead. That's fine.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So I was happy. I got my thermos back. Yeah. Meh, meh, meh. I got my thermos back and we uh found our way to a less busy subway station, which was nice. Um, we managed to get onto the subway. Yep. Usually this is when the subways are packed. Super packed. So I'm glad that we took the one that we took instead of following the crowd to the busier station. We managed to find places to sit.
SPEAKER_03:Yep.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that was cool.
SPEAKER_03:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And then we got off of the subway and we managed to find our train without wandering.
SPEAKER_02:Immediately.
SPEAKER_01:Immediately. Yeah. Usually we uh do circles around like the entire station trying to find the secret passageway to the trains home.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I I have to admit it was you that found it. If if it had been just me, I would have been there still, I think.
SPEAKER_01:You're still there trying to find the train home. I got home long before you did. Yeah. For some reason you didn't trust me and didn't follow me. But yes, it went quickly, it went smoothly, we got on the first train.
SPEAKER_03:We fell asleep on the train.
SPEAKER_01:We took a nap on the train.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, yeah, and it was nice that the train was empty when we were.
SPEAKER_01:Oh my god, because that's this one is also like super packed on the way home. And it wasn't. No. We found seats immediately.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, you got on before me, and I'm like, that's perfect. So you can find a seat for two, like a row. Yeah. And uh yeah, so we sat next to each other, fell asleep on the train.
SPEAKER_01:And then we got off the train. Yeah. And you wanted to get an energy drink to survive the ride home.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And I didn't really want any caffeine, but I got something to drink. Something to hydrate myself with and a protein bar to uh get a little sugar kick, I guess. Yeah. To survive the ride home.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We found a 7-Eleven that was open.
SPEAKER_03:That was really smart of you.
SPEAKER_01:Uh well, I looked it up on Google. Okay. So Google was smart.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, it was next to your workplace.
SPEAKER_01:I know exactly where it is. Yeah. I like to get coffee there. Okay. While while I'm working, if I have a break long enough to go get a coffee. Anyway. Irrelevant.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:We got stuff and we made our way back to the parking garage. The door was locked. We needed a code to get in. I found the code, and so we did get in, and the car was still there.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And it was happy to see us.
SPEAKER_03:Yes. The ride home went very well. I I didn't even feel that tired.
SPEAKER_01:Because you had an energy drink.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah, but how did you feel? Did you feel like you were going to sleep?
SPEAKER_01:I felt okay.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. But I mean, last time, uh, I felt still tired, almost like falling asleep.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And I had an energy drink then too. But this time I didn't feel sleepy at all.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I can't explain.
SPEAKER_03:No, no. I uh it was just an observation.
SPEAKER_01:Yes. Um, but yeah, I brought you home. We survived the ride home, and I got home and we both went straight to bed.
SPEAKER_03:Yep. And uh no problems falling asleep there.
SPEAKER_01:No, not at all.
SPEAKER_03:No. So that was nice.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And that was the story of our adventures.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:How are you doing?
SPEAKER_03:I'm doing well.
SPEAKER_01:Good, good. It was a good day.
SPEAKER_03:It was a good day. We we had fun.
SPEAKER_01:We had fun. Everything went well.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Um, good music, good times. We laughed. We managed to laugh despite the issues that we had.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I think that's about it. Are you all out of sips?
SPEAKER_03:I'm all out of zips. That means we're all out of episode.
SPEAKER_01:Because I'm also out of zips.
SPEAKER_03:You are?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I can tell.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. Would you like to wrap this up?
SPEAKER_03:Yes. Let's wrap this up.
SPEAKER_01:Alright. Well, as we wrap this up, would you like to tell me what is currently ruining your life?
SPEAKER_03:My uh sister lost her cat yesterday.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah. That's right. Yeah. That's really sad.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, he was fairly old.
SPEAKER_01:He He just turned 17.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, he did. Like two two days before he uh they had to uh put him down. So yeah. Uh that that's uh that's a bummer because uh I really liked him and he really liked me.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, you know. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00:That's sad.
SPEAKER_03:It's sad. Yeah, but you know, uh sometimes you have to do that for them really. Yeah. So they don't have to live with pain. Uh so yeah, gonna miss him. Yeah. Uh what's ruining your life?
SPEAKER_01:What's ruining my life is my current social life.
SPEAKER_00:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Is ruining my life. I'm just burnt out. I have a million things zooming through my mind all the time. I uh feel uncomfortable with people. I do everything possible to avoid conflict, and that is ruining my life because it's mentally draining. Yeah. And it's not getting fixed. I don't know if I can fix it at this point. So that's all.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Life is good. We're all having fun.
SPEAKER_02:It could be worse.
SPEAKER_01:It could be worse. Yeah. Oh, yeah, definitely. I could have a normal brain. How boring would that be?
SPEAKER_03:How would that look?
SPEAKER_01:Not great.
SPEAKER_03:No. How would the this podcast be if we had normal brains?
SPEAKER_01:Oh my god, so boring. Worse than this episode. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Are are you good? Uh I'm good. Alright, let's wrap this up. Thank you for listening to the episode. Even if you didn't learn something, I hope you enjoyed the drama. Yeah. So much drama of our adventures.
SPEAKER_03:We might make a film out of it.
SPEAKER_01:We probably will. I'm working on the script already.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I got the title down. It's called Fika Guard.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Um, in theaters, uh, September of 2028. Uh uh, you can buy tickets already.
SPEAKER_02:Already.
SPEAKER_01:The cinema was so thrilled about the idea that they bought the rights or whatever.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, the cinema bought the rights.
SPEAKER_01:The cinema bought the rights. They were like, this needs to happen now. And uh they're already selling tickets. And we've sold like half a million.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Uh it's gonna be a problem because we're never gonna get it done.
SPEAKER_01:We never write anything down. So we have to trust the actors to ad lib the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, you have to have a weird brain.
SPEAKER_01:Uh really good improv.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. And uh if you have like um good uh locals in there, like inner GPS. Yeah, if you have that, then you're fired because that's that's a problem.
SPEAKER_01:If you can find your way to the set, it's not okay. No. No. Then then the go.
SPEAKER_02:Then the movie's a no-go.
SPEAKER_01:No, everyone's gonna get fired because they keep finding where the location is. What's the secret password? Anyway, thanks for listening. We uh will uh be live on November 1st. Yeah. While playing Mad Libs. Why can't I say anything correctly?
SPEAKER_03:I don't know. You have a weird brain. We yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, our next live Mad Libs is no November. November.
SPEAKER_02:November.
SPEAKER_01:No remembers.
SPEAKER_02:No remembered.
SPEAKER_01:The memory's gone. No memory. Uh November 1st on Twitch. Um, we had a really good time the last time. Last time, yeah. We had an extra friend.
SPEAKER_03:We had yeah, that was really cool.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. So we could actually like play and it was great.
