SPEAKER_05:Yeah, okay, so tell me what did you do to your face?
SPEAKER_01:I did not shave anything.
SPEAKER_05:No, I see that. But you have like a sore here.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, that's my dry face.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Is it dry face? You haven't been picking at your face?
SPEAKER_01:Well, it's dry and upic.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. You pick because it's dry. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Because it's the same with my hands, fingers.
SPEAKER_05:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:The dry and epic.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Have you considered not doing that?
SPEAKER_01:No, not really.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Should we uh get this going?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Good that we cleared that out.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. That's all uh that's all I wanted to discuss during the warm-ups.
SPEAKER_01:Gistust. Yes. Discuss. Yes. Discuss that thing. Yeah. Disgust thing.
SPEAKER_05:On your face.
SPEAKER_01:Gis gisgusting. Disgusting face. Right. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:Uh that took that that joke took way too long to get to. But uh we got there and uh now it's over.
SPEAKER_05:And we can move on from that.
SPEAKER_01:We can.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Let's do that.
SPEAKER_05:Let's pretend it never happened.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we can do that.
SPEAKER_05:Alright.
SPEAKER_01:Save that for the uh leftovers or whatever you call it now.
SPEAKER_05:I don't know. It's a new year, a new title.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we said something before and I forgot what it was.
SPEAKER_05:No idea.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:Um plus the years already started. Actually, technically, we haven't had any uh leftovers this year. No. So we could rename them if you wanted to. Yeah. If you could remember. But as of right now, that's not happening.
SPEAKER_01:No, I'm sure it's still in some of the leftovers, but I I don't wanna go through all of them.
SPEAKER_05:Didn't did we discuss a new title for the leftovers in the leftovers?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Uh one episode we did last year. Okay.
SPEAKER_05:That could have been like two weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01:Uh well, uh it's uh more than two weeks ago. Right.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Uh three weeks ago then.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, probably even longer.
unknown:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Four.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Okay. A month ago.
SPEAKER_05:Ish.
SPEAKER_01:Or longer than that. I don't really know when we were talking about it, but I remember us talking about it.
SPEAKER_05:I thought we talked about it during the trip though.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05:There was no leftovers in the car. No. There were there was a lot of trash.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, but no leftovers.
SPEAKER_05:No. Oh no. The crumbs are on the floor.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Um, can we start this?
SPEAKER_01:We can start this.
SPEAKER_05:But you have to do it.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, I have to do it.
SPEAKER_05:This is your responsibility.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:The world is depending on you.
SPEAKER_01:Wow.
SPEAKER_05:Go.
SPEAKER_01:That's a lot of pressure. Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Like in your can.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. That's a lot of pressure.
SPEAKER_05:Wow.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, here goes.
SPEAKER_04:Wow.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Wow.
SPEAKER_01:Wow. Look at the water.
SPEAKER_05:Take a sip.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Now start the episode.
SPEAKER_01:Wow. Yeah. Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. My name is Matthias.
SPEAKER_04:And I'm Lauren.
SPEAKER_01:And this is the first official full-length episode this year. Year. Year. Right. Yeah. Yes. Crazy.
SPEAKER_05:We're back.
SPEAKER_01:We're back.
SPEAKER_05:We're back for good.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Like for real this time though.
SPEAKER_01:I think so. Unless we decide to do another trip, like in a week or so.
SPEAKER_05:Tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Tomorrow.
SPEAKER_05:Are we besties?
SPEAKER_01:I think so. Yeah, we are.
SPEAKER_05:Cool. How long are we going to be besties for? Did you forget?
SPEAKER_01:For an hour or so.
SPEAKER_05:This sounds like a plan. Did you know that this is the podcast in which you're going to learn nothing at all?
SPEAKER_01:I did know that. Cool. Because I had listened to it before.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, okay. Well, today you're gonna learn something. You're not gonna learn anything.
SPEAKER_02:No, no.
SPEAKER_05:But our friends listening, the ghosties. Oh, yeah. Out there, they're gonna listen and they're going to learn. The listeners are gonna listen. Did you know?
SPEAKER_01:Few people know it.
SPEAKER_05:Few people know it. That's right.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that listeners are gonna listen.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, hopefully. Or they're pretending to listen and they just like walk away from their speaker or whatever.
SPEAKER_01:They're bad listeners. Do you know any of those?
SPEAKER_05:Uh yeah. A few. If you hear any coughing in the background, I'm sorry. That's you. And sick child who is currently sick.
SPEAKER_01:Yes. Yeah. And me too.
SPEAKER_05:You're also sick.
SPEAKER_01:But I don't cough that much.
SPEAKER_05:Speaking of, hold your thoughts. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Holding my breath. Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Matias. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_01:I'm good. No, you're not. Not really. No, I uh I could be better, but I could also be worse, I guess. I'm not dying.
SPEAKER_05:Okay, what's wrong?
SPEAKER_01:Uh I uh I had a cold. Or yeah, I I had a fever and sore throat and headache and uh a runny nose and uh stuffy nose and yeah, the whole shebang.
SPEAKER_05:Pretty much since we landed.
SPEAKER_01:Yep.
SPEAKER_05:Or since you got home at least.
SPEAKER_01:That was the first thing that happened to me after the trip.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, you got sick.
SPEAKER_01:Yay.
SPEAKER_05:Same with Sick Child, because he's been the same since we got home. He's been coughing like crazy. Yeah. It's not going away.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:So yeah, there's that.
SPEAKER_01:That's that's great or not. No. Could be better.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:How are you though?
SPEAKER_05:I'm tired.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Um, we've been suffering from the jet lags all week.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Um, alongside sick child who's been coughing and not sleeping due to the jet lags as well as the coughing. Yeah. And uh, so we're not really sleeping that much.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:My kids were really excited to go back to school. Like the day that we got back, they were like, let's go to school. We miss our friends. And I'm like, um, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:You don't know what's coming.
SPEAKER_02:No, no.
SPEAKER_05:And so the night that we got back, my daughter had woken up at like three in the morning.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh was like ready for the day.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:But then she went to the couch and fell back asleep till like 11 30. She's like, I still want to go to school. I was like, you pretty much miss school. School is over.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah. My uh my sleeping routine has been out of whack too. Out of whack. Out of whack. Uh I've been uh sleeping until like one in the day. And uh that's uh 1 p.m.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I don't feel great about that. No. Uh but um I also been sick, so that uh I don't know if that has an ad I I blame that.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. That's it's it's a combination of the two. Because we're like jet lagged and sick and trying to compensate by sleeping longer because we didn't sleep during the night.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:And that doesn't help.
SPEAKER_01:No, it doesn't.
SPEAKER_05:You kind of have to force yourself to wake up earlier, even if you feel like garbage.
SPEAKER_01:I know. I tried to wake up earlier today and it's 10. Yeah. Yeah. Uh it kinda worked. I got up at uh 11.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Out of bed.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Because you didn't fall back asleep.
SPEAKER_01:No, no.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Or did you schedule a text to me at 10 o'clock this morning?
SPEAKER_01:Uh I well, I uh I did wake up and then I uh uh I texted you was it at ten?
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Because I had like just started work.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah. Anyway, I uh I woke up at ten and but I think I laid in bed until like eleven. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Sounds about right.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Because it's you know, with runny nose and everything, I don't want to get up because I know what's gonna happen. Yeah, everything will just you know you zoom to the shower from there, right?
SPEAKER_05:Just to like empty everything out. Yeah. That's what I do.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. Yeah, not really to the shower, more like to the toilet.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01:Are you throwing up? No. Okay. No, I I'm I I I need paper.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. I save the paper.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. I I I don't like showering in the mornings. No. Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:All right, fine. Fight me.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I can.
SPEAKER_05:Alright.
SPEAKER_01:It's gonna hurt you.
SPEAKER_05:Yes. Yes, it will. Alright. All right. So uh we went over that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that was the week.
SPEAKER_05:That was the week. Nothing else really happened worth mentioning because it's all been a blur.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, not for me at least. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05:You you mentioned I mean some things have happened, but yeah, whatever.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We're we've got a long episode anyway. Yeah, we've got to. So would you like to uh talk about other things? Literally anything else.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh today we watched movies.
SPEAKER_01:We did.
SPEAKER_05:We did. It's Friday. It is Friday evening.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yes.
SPEAKER_05:This is the time we usually watch movies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So we're kind of back on schedule.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It's January 16th.
SPEAKER_01:Wow.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:That's cool.
SPEAKER_05:We're like halfway through the month already.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:What happened?
SPEAKER_01:A trip happened. Right.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. We went on a trip. Went on a trip. Troop. A troop.
SPEAKER_01:Troop. Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Uh, but we watched movies today. We did. So let's.
SPEAKER_01:We're gonna talk about that one. Let's move on.
SPEAKER_05:I wanted to movy on.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, let's move on.
SPEAKER_05:Thank you.
SPEAKER_01:You're welcome.
SPEAKER_05:It wasn't even a question, it was a demand. I want to move me on.
SPEAKER_01:Let's do that then.
SPEAKER_05:Fine. Tonight we watched two movies.
SPEAKER_01:We did.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. The first one was Young Gun Stew.
SPEAKER_01:Sto Stoop.
SPEAKER_05:Stoop. Young Gun Stew.
SPEAKER_01:Young Gun Stew.
SPEAKER_04:Stoop. Young Gun Gun.
SPEAKER_01:Stoop. My favorite dish.
SPEAKER_05:I'm gonna try this one more time, okay? Young Guns Too. We also watched. Um Bullet in the Head. To the Head. To the Head. To the Head.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:So young guns to the Head.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. If you if you combine the movies, yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And it's basically the same thing.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and I mean they share uh an actor.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, just the one.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, just the one, but still.
SPEAKER_05:I'm not gonna talk.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. I'm gonna talk about Young Guns 2. That's what I'm gonna talk about. So Young Guns 2 is about Billy the Kid, played by Amelia Estevis.
SPEAKER_05:Not Charlie Sheen.
SPEAKER_01:No, he's not in this movie.
SPEAKER_05:He was almost in this movie.
SPEAKER_01:Something happened in the other movie which made him not come back to this movie.
SPEAKER_05:He came back in a younger form. You say so using someone else's name.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, you say so.
SPEAKER_05:He looked like Charlie Sheen.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:And uh young version at least.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, maybe a little bit. So Emilio Esteves is back, so is Charlie Sheen. No, he is not. But uh Kiefer Sutherland is back and Lou Diamond Phillips.
SPEAKER_05:Also someone else.
SPEAKER_01:Someone else?
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Who did I Christian Slater is in this movie?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, Christian Slater is here too. He's not back from the first one because it wasn't in the first one, but he's here.
SPEAKER_05:In this movie.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:He's not here.
SPEAKER_01:He's not right here, but he was there in that movie.
SPEAKER_05:He was there, not here.
SPEAKER_01:Young Guns 2.
SPEAKER_05:Right. Not with Charlie G.
SPEAKER_01:Exactly. Christian Slater is dead.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, okay. He was in Heathers.
SPEAKER_01:He was.
SPEAKER_05:He was also in other movies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. More about that later.
SPEAKER_05:I'm sure we've seen him in other movies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, probably. But more about Slater later.
SPEAKER_05:Slater.
SPEAKER_01:Later. More about Slater later. Okay. Very funny. Yeah, I know. So, so so uh this movie is about uh Billy the kid that I already said, and he has bounty on his head. That's what you say, right? Not the chocolate bar.
SPEAKER_04:He has a chocolate bar on his head, and everyone's trying to get to it because they want the chocolate bar.
SPEAKER_01:Everyone's snacky.
SPEAKER_04:Snacking.
SPEAKER_01:They're snacky and want that chocolate bar. Yeah, and he meets his old friends Doc and Chavez from the first movie. Also, he's friends with Christian Slater, who's Arkansas Dave. Yeah. Yeah. Pat Garrett is there. The character. Yeah, the character, not the person, because I think he was dead at that point. But he was played by William Peterson.
SPEAKER_05:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. They shoot some bad guys and maybe occasional good guys. I don't I don't know really. But they shoot people and uh they're they're in the western. And oh yeah, he's also an old guy in the beginning.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Telling the story.
SPEAKER_05:About that one time he got a scar. A scar.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. That was the entire movie.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. The the movie is about a guy telling someone else about his scar.
SPEAKER_05:Just one.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:You wanna know if I have a scar? Let me tell you. Let me show you this movie that I made about me getting this scar.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so that was that movie. Yep. Did you like it?
SPEAKER_05:I did. I think I did. Yeah. Yeah. And say that. I think I did. Okay. Since I liked the first one, I think I like this one too.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I'm gonna say the first one was better.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Because it had Charlie Sheen. That was cool.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And this one almost had Charlie Sheen.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It would have been better if he came back.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah. But also kind of implausible.
SPEAKER_05:Implausible?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Maybe. But it's happened in other movies before.
SPEAKER_01:That's true.
SPEAKER_05:I mean, in Mamma Mia, like Mamma Mia 2, Meryl Streep was dead, but she was still there.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:She's not actually dead. Her character was supposed to be dead. But then she showed up.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway. Because she's a rebel. She can do that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I can do whatever.
SPEAKER_05:I do what I want.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm Meryl Streep. I can do whatever I want.
SPEAKER_05:You said my character is dead. I'm showing up on set anyway.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Watch me.
SPEAKER_01:And you're gonna film me. Yeah. I know you are.
SPEAKER_05:And we're all gonna like it. I'm still gonna get paid.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, probably get an Oscar for it too.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Did I?
SPEAKER_01:I don't know.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway, did you like the movie?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, but no Meryl Streep in this one.
SPEAKER_05:No, so I don't like it. I changed my mind about the whole movie based solely on the fact that Meryl Streep was not in it, nor did she have anything to do with it.
SPEAKER_01:No, and they didn't even sing.
SPEAKER_05:They didn't sing. It wasn't a musical. Didn't care for it. I'm gonna tell you about another movie. Okay. It's called Bullet and Wounds and Stuff. Um Bullet Wounds. Stuffed woo bullet wounds. Stuffed bullet wounds. It's about paper up your nose. And uh axes and Jason Momoa.
SPEAKER_02:Yep.
SPEAKER_05:I want to call him Mimosa. But that's not his name. Mimosa. Jason Mimosa.
SPEAKER_04:Yum.
SPEAKER_05:Uh he's a baby in this movie.
SPEAKER_04:Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:It's not about him. A bad baby.
SPEAKER_05:He's a bad baby. He's a big bad baby. And uh Stallone is also in the movie. Yeah. And he's a big bad guy. He's an old man. Yeah. Like he is. And he has a friend who is a cop. They're not actually friends.
SPEAKER_01:No, not really.
SPEAKER_05:Uh Stallone is like some kind of gangster or whatever. He's he's not a good guy. He's like he's the anti-hero that you talk about.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And the police guy is a police. And Stallone doesn't like police, but they end up kind of working together anyway. And they're both trying to find the the same guy.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Um they have different ways of doing that, though.
SPEAKER_05:Yes. They both get what they want eventually.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh Jason Momoa is the bad guy, one of the bad guys, and he's there.
SPEAKER_01:He is. The bad guy's there.
SPEAKER_05:Uh Christian Slater is also in this movie. Yes, he is. He uh is a fox.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:He's dressed up as a fox, and he's just he's also there. Yeah. Also a bad guy.
SPEAKER_01:People are gonna wonder what this is, what this movie is if they've never seen it.
SPEAKER_05:I don't know. Uh he's a fox and he's a bad guy, and also Jason Mimosa is in there, and he's a baby. The bad guy's a baby. Christian Slater is old and Stallone is old, and there's uh cop guy.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:What did you think about the movie? That's all. Yeah. That's all. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:That's the movie.
SPEAKER_05:That's what I got out of it.
SPEAKER_01:Yep. Uh I uh I I I do like this movie. How much? How much? I mean, it's not it's not in my top ten of Stallone movies. So it's it's okay.
SPEAKER_05:No, that's Rambo.
SPEAKER_01:What what?
SPEAKER_05:Rambo's your top ten.
SPEAKER_01:Uh yeah, some of the movies are all ten. All ten?
SPEAKER_05:Half of the movies in your top ten Stallone movies are Rambo movies.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that could be.
SPEAKER_05:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Because there are five.
SPEAKER_05:The other five are just random Stallone movies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Maybe one Rocky. No. Rocky horror.
SPEAKER_01:Rocky horror. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:You know that that's the one Rocky movie that Stallone is not in.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_05:Few people notice it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway. Yeah. What? Um how do you feel about this movie?
SPEAKER_01:I kinda like it. Like I discussed with you during the movie, that Jackie Chan should have had the Asian guy's role.
SPEAKER_05:The cop.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I left out the fact that the cop was Asian. Yeah. I don't know if it was on purpose because it sounded racist, but I did not mention that the cop was Asian. Yeah. He's Korean.
SPEAKER_01:He's Korean. Supposed to be. Korea is an Asia. So.
SPEAKER_05:That's a fact.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. It would have been cool to see Jackie and Stallone making a movie together, you know?
SPEAKER_05:They haven't yet.
SPEAKER_01:No, not really. That's too bad.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But uh yeah, I kinda like this movie. But like I said, it's not in my top ten or anything, but uh it it has some good action and uh can be a little bit funny at times, like dark humor. I kind of find that funny.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:What did you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_05:This movie was a movie in which I picked up a few things and I dropped the rest.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. Yeah, I I think I heard what you picked up.
SPEAKER_05:I I saw the people. Yeah. And I saw that they did things. I guess I kinda like the plot. I mean, it's not your typical like police buddies movie. But it's like half police buddies and half not.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. It's still alone.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Yeah, it's okay. Yeah. I'm not gonna say I hate it because I didn't hate it.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:But I didn't love it, but it was okay. Yeah. It was it was probably better than whatever we watched last week.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05:Because I don't remember.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Another still movie that I didn't care for.
SPEAKER_01:Oh no.
SPEAKER_05:Careful.
SPEAKER_01:Kerfer. Kerfer. Careful.
SPEAKER_05:Careful. Yeah, I know. I'm trying to be careful. I'm trying to be honest and careful at the same time.
SPEAKER_04:I don't want to hurt your feelings.
SPEAKER_01:No, it's okay.
SPEAKER_04:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:You're just gonna make me watch it again later.
SPEAKER_01:Well, you do that too. I to me.
SPEAKER_05:We're all having fun here. Matias. Yes. Are you tired of talking to me?
SPEAKER_01:We're what? Are you tired of talking to me? No, I'm planning on talking to you more.
SPEAKER_05:Would you like to take a break?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We'll be right back.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:And we're back. We are back. Here we are. Back here again. Yeah. Doing the same old thing we've always been doing.
SPEAKER_01:Talking.
SPEAKER_05:Talking.
SPEAKER_01:With our mouths.
SPEAKER_05:Right. What else would you talk with? Anyway.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know.
SPEAKER_05:We have a lot to talk about.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yes.
SPEAKER_05:So we're gonna talk about our super amazing trip starting now. Okay, so on December 26th, we uh went to the airport in Stockholm.
SPEAKER_02:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:And already there, things started messing up for us, which is a great start.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. Um, for some reason the checking kiosks were not working for me. Turns out I was using the wrong passports. So we had to wait like 45 minutes or so to talk to a desk person who uh helped us check in, and then we had to check in our bags, and after that it was okay. Yeah. I think got to our gate, did some shopping. We had so much time.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So eventually we got on our plane and we went to Iceland.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Bumpy ride to Iceland.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, it was a bumpy ride, but oh, I had later, later, later, I'll have other things to say.
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:But um, yeah, it was a little bumpy, but I it was okay. There was a couple bumps that, you know, made me kind of jump a little bit.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. But but the sick child got almost got sick.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, he started getting really nervous and he held the bag to his face. But he was okay.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:He was fine, everyone was fine. My oldest was getting pains in his ears when we landed in Boston while we were landing.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:But he says it's because we landed so fast, like we went down so quickly that his ears started hurting.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:But yeah, we landed in Iceland first for our layover.
SPEAKER_01:We did. It was surprising Iceland. Because I I thought Ice Iceland would be a bigger problem that it than it was.
SPEAKER_05:Iceland was the only thing that went well.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Pretty much.
SPEAKER_01:And I've heard so many bad stories about Iceland.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But it went well for us.
SPEAKER_05:Iceland was fine. And then we got on our next plane to get to Boston, which went well.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. The thing is that I was expecting meals on the planes. Yeah. But we didn't get meals. We had to pay for meals.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which, whatever.
SPEAKER_01:The the biggest problem about the Boston one was that there was a plane at our gate. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05:They were like taking up the gate so that we couldn't park.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And so we had to wait another 45 minutes for that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and I was it was so nice when we landed and everything, because Sick Child was b uh uh uh next to me and he was sleeping. He he was sleeping and and everything was fine. But we waited, I don't know how long we waited for that other plane to move. It was a long time. During that time he woke up, started crying. No one could take the seatbelt off.
SPEAKER_05:Right.
SPEAKER_01:But you did it anyways.
SPEAKER_05:Well, I assume that he went to use the bathroom.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we never moved, so why why should we even have a seatbelt on in case he started driving the plane. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I I get that, but uh still he was crying.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So uh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So I took him and I brought him to the bathroom and I told the stewardess, I'm really sorry, but I really I think that he has to use the bathroom. And so we went into the bathroom and he did nothing. He was like, No, I don't have to. I was like, what do you want?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So then I brought him back to the seat and I calmed him down somehow.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I think just me being there was enough. And you switched seats, yeah, right? So that I could take your seats.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I sat next to the oldest as well.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, okay. Ye oldest.
SPEAKER_01:What?
SPEAKER_05:Ye oldest.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. You oldest.
SPEAKER_05:Um, so yeah, we were in Boston and eventually we got off the plane. We found our bags. Well, yeah, we went through security and everything, went fine, no problems. People were pretty nice.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And found our bags, no problem. Found Auntie Monster, my sister. Yes. And I went straight for Duncan's. That's what I usually do.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes, that's true.
SPEAKER_05:Went straight to Duncan's. And she took the kids and the bags to her place. And you and me and my life partner went to find the rental car.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. So talk to the guy at the desk. Everything was fine. And he's like, go get your car. I was like, okay. So we went down. It's freezing in Boston. Just so you know. It's so cold.
SPEAKER_01:I know. I know.
SPEAKER_05:And so we're waiting for our car to arrive. The car arrives. And then the guy in the little booth in the cold was like, you can't have that car because it's not registered. It just expired like today. I was like, that's typical.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Cool. And so we're sitting there waiting for some kind of solution to this problem. And we're not getting any solutions because other people kept bothering this guy. Yeah. And the poor guy. Okay. He is in this tiny little booth. It's freezing outside. It's cold. And there's people coming up to him yelling at him because their cars aren't ready.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Maybe they don't have a car for these people. Yeah. Which, sure, I get the disappointment. But why do you have to yell at him? Yeah. It's not his job. It's not his fault.
SPEAKER_01:And it's it was so funny because we were there and also other people.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. There was a couple of other women who were waiting for a car.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and they were patients, as we were. Yeah. And uh then the lady was who was screaming at him.
SPEAKER_05:She's got her whole family there, and her husband is like attacking the man, too.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and and she tries to excuse her behavior by saying that he doesn't have our car. And that's the problem we all have. Yeah. It's like we don't scream at him for Right.
SPEAKER_05:I haven't yelled at this guy. And I tried like telling him, like, I know it's not your fault and I'm not I'm not upset with you.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, can we try to solve this? Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Can we figure something out?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We didn't exactly get the car that we wanted, but we needed something.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we settled with one.
SPEAKER_05:We settled with the one that was closest. I mean, it had kind of enough seats, but we were gonna need more later anyway. So we took this car, we picked up the kids and the bags from Auntie Monster, and then we went to our hotel. At the hotel, I had well, I was supposed to fix a digital key for the rooms, but when I had applied for that, when I, you know, uh filled out the thing for that, then I realized afterwards, like on the way to the hotel, other people need keys too. So we had to go to the desk, and I was like, I asked for these digital keys. I don't think they were even available, so I needed help with that. Plus, we needed the physical keys or cards, blip things. And the guy at the desk was like, It's my first day um working on my own. It's like the middle of the night. Yeah. And he's like, I pretty much just got run through all this stuff really quickly. And I was like, okay, well, I have no option other than to stand here and wait for you figure out what you're doing.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So it took a while, but we got our keys eventually. Yeah. And this was in New Hampshire. We were in New Hampshire. Okay. The next morning, I had to figure out the car situation. So I called the customer support number so many times, talked to different people, got awful answers, and tried different numbers, no answers, and then back to the other numbers, and they were like, Oh, well, call back, and then hit this number to get to this person. And so I called that number, and I wasn't even given that number as an option.
SPEAKER_02:No, yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I was like, what is going on? And so we just had to make a decision. Should we test it?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Or either go to back to Boston or Manchester, yeah, New Hampshire, which Manchester was a lot closer, but we had already been to Boston. So then we could tell them we were already here. This is the situation, and we need to get this fixed.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Because there was no way we would have made it all the way down to Florida in this tiny car that didn't fit everyone.
SPEAKER_01:Exactly. I also like the phone call where where he told you the number to the number the the number you called.
unknown:Right.
SPEAKER_05:I was like, can I have a specific number to the Boston location? He's like, Yeah, this is the number. And I was like, that is the number I called to get to you. I was like, really? Come on. So we took our chances, we went to Boston, and we got a car. We got a really nice car.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It was so nice to get into that car because again, we had been waiting in the cold.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I'm just like panicking. Oh yeah. Just just standing there at that booth again was like, okay, well, here's your car. And oh, we closed out your contract when you returned the other car. So now you have to open up a new contract. And I'm like, what? And so then he's like, I don't even think you can do that. And so he called his manager and he figured something out. They were like, Yeah, you can do that. And so whatever he did, he did it. And then he's like, Okay, well, now you have to pay with a credit card. And I was like, uh, I don't know, it didn't work for me yesterday because I tried using my credit card the day before, and it didn't work out because my credit company is like, we don't trust you with that kind of money. And I was like, I I get it. So, but I had the money on my debit card. So I was like, Can I use my debit card? Because that's what I used yesterday. He's like, No, no, you weren't supposed to be able to do that. I was like, please, come on. I was just about to open up a new credit card. I was like on my way to do it.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And he's like, Oh, let me call my manager again. And so he called his manager, and his manager's like, Yeah, you can do that. I was like, what do you so I was allowed to use my debit card and it went through. And like at that point, I was like, I was almost in tears. I was shaking.
SPEAKER_01:He was banging the keys in front of him.
SPEAKER_04:Oh my god, he had the keys right there, and he was just like holding them and was like, please hand them over. Just give them the hand.
SPEAKER_05:Come here. So we got the car and it was warm and it was really nice. Yeah. And it was like so big, so much space.
SPEAKER_01:And we when we looked in the uh in the trunk and to see the the space there, yeah. It was great.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my god, so much space.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we're like perfect. That's gonna fit all our bags.
SPEAKER_05:It felt so good. Yeah, it was like getting into that car was like felt so good. We went back to uh New Hampshire. We did a shopping trip at Target, and then we went to like Dick's Sporting Goods.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And then uh my daughter wanted to go into Ulta. We went in there really quick. We wanted to go to Longhorns, but they were and everyone was hungry. We were all starving. Yeah and they were like, okay, well, it's gonna be a half-hour wait. I was like, mm, okay. I don't think anyone here has the patience for that.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:So we went to KFC instead.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was good.
SPEAKER_05:It was good. You had your fry dipped in mashed potatoes. Yeah. Potato on a potato.
SPEAKER_02:Yep.
SPEAKER_05:And yeah, it was okay, but it was so cold. It was so cold. It was so cold in there. All right, so next day, my grandmother and my aunt and one of my cousins showed up to the hotel. They were staying at the hotel as the same hotel as we were.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we had breakfast at the hotel and I had eggnog. I was very happy.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_05:With my eggnog.
SPEAKER_01:I think I got to taste some.
SPEAKER_05:You got some of it, yeah. And then we took a tour of Keene, New Hampshire.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And I must say it was really nice meeting your grandma and uh aunt and cousin.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they're okay.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:They're alright.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh I enjoyed it. We we took around uh yeah, we took a walk around.
SPEAKER_01:We took a rock.
SPEAKER_05:We took a rock around town. Showed it the buildings, was like, one day you could be one of these.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Here you see the rock.
SPEAKER_05:And this is the rock, and this is a rock. And we looked around town and it was cold.
SPEAKER_01:It was cold, but it was cool. Uh it was cold. It was cool and cold.
SPEAKER_05:It was cold.
SPEAKER_01:It wasn't hot.
SPEAKER_05:But uh okay, then we decided to drive around instead of walk.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And then my sister calls me and she says she's mad at me because I had set up an event to be held at the hotel for friends and family to come say hi to me. And oh my goodness. Wow. This whole thing just blew up. Okay. Because on Facebook I had put that the event was supposed to be starting at five. Yeah. That's five Swedish time. But Facebook told the Americans that it was at 11 in the morning.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So um everyone thought it was at 11 in the morning. So I started panicking. We went directly to the hotel. And um my yeah, my grandma and aunt and uh cousin and my sister and her husband were there, and we just hung out in the meeting room and waited for people. Yeah. One of my old friends and her kids showed up.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That was it.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That was it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Oh no. One of my mom's old uh bluegrass festival friends showed up as well.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_05:She brought pizza.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And a pillow.
SPEAKER_05:And a pillow. Which was used.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It's already been well used.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah. I saw stains on those.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, the funny thing is is that right before my sister called me saying she was mad, we were at the grocery store and we ordered a cake.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we ordered a grocery store cake. And I asked for dinosaurs on the cake. Just because. And then uh I asked if she could write on it. She's like, yeah, sure. What do you want? And I was like, happy birthday, grandma. Just for fun. Just because it was funny. Yeah. And then later on it was pointed out to me. Did you have dinosaurs on the cake? Because you're saying that grandma is old. It was like, I did not think of that. All I wanted was dinosaurs and then something funny.
SPEAKER_01:But that's perfect.
SPEAKER_05:And it all became really funny in the end.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It was a big joke.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Well, we all kind of had fun, and this little get together was it was very small because no one else showed up. Yeah. I invited a lot of people and nobody really showed up.
SPEAKER_01:No, but I I enjoyed it. It was fun.
SPEAKER_05:Next day we went to my hometown and we visited my mom and my dad and my grandparents, my dad's parents, uh at the cemetery. And it was wet and it was cold.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I didn't like it.
SPEAKER_01:I stayed in the car. A lot of people stayed in the car with a sick child, and because he didn't want to go outside, so I had to sacrifice myself and stay in the car.
SPEAKER_05:It was the house anyway. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I saw the pictures.
SPEAKER_05:Good. Uh it was just me, my life partner, my oldest who had a relationship with my mom and uh my aunt and cousin who came out to the graveyard or gravestones and we tried to light up the candles and the lanterns, but it was wet, so I don't know how long they lasted. Uh but we did that, and then we went to my mom's house and tore it apart. Yep. At least the living room. We tore up the carpet from the living room floor. It took us a while, and it was a lot of work. Yeah. And we also did laundry, which was also a fight because the washing machine didn't want to work. But we figured it out. Yeah. We couldn't even get into the house to begin with. So I broke in.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:In the way that I usually would.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it worked out.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. I was like, either I'm going in through the garage or I'm jumping through a window.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I'm gonna find a cement block and I'm gonna jump through the window. Which is how I usually would break into my house when I was younger and forgot my keys.
SPEAKER_01:We could have brought the rock.
SPEAKER_05:We could have. I don't think I don't think it would have worked.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:Those windows won't break from a rock, I don't think. Okay. Okay, so we did that, and then we all went to a place to eat. Uh, and I met a couple friends there who did not get to sit with us. They sat at a different table because grandma had to have a handicapped seat, and uh yeah. Anyway, it was it was a mess. Next day, we all went to the Boston Museum of Science.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we looked at the science things and it was fun. And then my grandma got tired and didn't want to be with us anymore. So she said, I'm going home. Yeah. So then we had to stand and take 10 million pictures before she could go. And then we uh spent some more time at the museum and the kids didn't really want to be there anymore. So we left and we went to New Jersey. Yeah. Uh and that's what we did for the night. We went to a hotel. I was really rushing everything throughout the day for a reason.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Because uh when we got to the hotel, we had just enough time. I mean, the timing was amazing because I was thinking that we would be late. We got there an hour early. Yeah. We had time to settle into the rooms a little bit. I fixed the parking because that was confusing, and everything was good. And then it was just convincing my daughter and sick child to come back outside because we're gonna go look at New York. Yeah, we're gonna go look at New York. And my life partner is like, How are we doing this? He's like, We're not walking, are we? I was like, No, no, no, no, we're in New Jersey, we're going to New York. He's like, Are we taking like a train? Are we taking we're not taking a taxi? No, we're not taking a taxi. I'm like, no, we're not taking a taxi. So we went outside. I got them all to go outside. I was like, please just trust me. We're going outside.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh we start wandering around a little bit. And he's like, where are we going? What are we doing? I'm like, I don't know. I don't know. What are we doing?
SPEAKER_01:I actually don't know.
SPEAKER_05:I actually don't know. And then the limo shows up. And it was one of the best moments of my life. Because he comes up and he gets out of the car. He's like looking around the driver. He's looking around. And I'm like, hello, are you my driver? He's like, yes, I think so.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I'm like, awesome. And everyone's like, what? And so we got everyone into the limo. Because it was just me and you and my sister who knew about this. Yeah. And my life partner and children had no idea. No. No idea. It was a surprise. And that's the best part that they had no clue.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So I I asked the driver if we could get a tour or just like drive around like Manhattan, New York City, just see as much as we possibly can. I also want to stop at a pizza place and pick up some pizza.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my god, the guy was the nicest.
SPEAKER_02:He was really nice.
SPEAKER_05:And he had stories to tell. He had historical stories and everything. And he was so nice. And he helped me order the pizza. Because the first we went to two pizzerias. Yeah. The first one I asked, Can I have a cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza? He's like, Yeah, no problem. I was like, How long is it gonna take? He's like, here. Uh, I got two slices of pizza. Yeah. Ginormous slices, but still, they were slices. And I was like, okay, I did something wrong here. And so we went to a different pizzeria and I read the sign. It was like pizza or pizza pie. Yeah. I had to ask for a pie.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. That's not how we do it in Zoom.
SPEAKER_05:No. So I was more specific this time. And uh the driver came into that one with me to make sure that we got what we were looking for.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, shouldn't it be the other way around? I want a pizza slice. You would think so. I want a pizza.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, but no, these are New York people. Yeah, okay. It's a pie.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay, so we went around New York and it was magical. Lights everywhere. We saw so much.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I looked at all the Christmas lights.
SPEAKER_05:There was so much Christmas.
SPEAKER_01:I like Christmas lights.
SPEAKER_05:And we went to Times Square and we saw where they were gonna do the New Year's Eve thing because it is it's December 30th. So it's the day before New Year's Eve. Yeah. Before the crowds and everything.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Before the balls drops.
SPEAKER_05:Ball drops. Balls drop. Alright. So yeah, we looked around New York and it was amazing. And then we went back and we went to bed because the next day we had to get up early again.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:More driving. There's been so much driving, and we're not even done.
SPEAKER_01:That was the start of the long journey. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:The long journey was the trip from New Jersey down to Florida. We uh went down to DC. Our first stop was Washington, DC.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we parked at Arlington Cemetery. And we walked from there to the Lincoln Memorial. And we looked around. There was a lot that was blocked off. So we couldn't really go much further.
SPEAKER_01:No, that was uh without going all the way out and around. Yeah, a little bit disappointing, but we still got to see what we wanted to see.
SPEAKER_05:Right.
SPEAKER_01:From a distance.
SPEAKER_05:At least the major things.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Because there were some other things along the way, but whatever.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We looked at the things, we said, this is cool. And then we went back.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. This is cool. Bye.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, pretty much. And so we went back to the car and we drove down to Richmond, Virginia. There has been, I mean, don't get me wrong. There were some bathroom breaks along the way all the way to Florida. And my daughter was famous for saying, announcing, I have to go to the bathroom right as we are passing a rest stop.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So she was really good at that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. She's an expert.
SPEAKER_05:Oh yeah. It's like she knew.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So um anyway, uh, we went down to Richmond, Virginia, and we stopped at a Chuck E. Cheese. Yeah. Where we played some games and ate some pizza. And yeah, that's basically what we did.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Things that you do at Chuck E. Cheese, that's what we did. And we had some fun. And then uh we got some prizes, I guess, from the points that we got. Anyway, we did that. And then we were supposed to go to Fayetteville, North Carolina, which we did, but we wanted to stop at Krispy Kreme. Uh, but they closed. We were too late. So we stopped at oh oh my goodness, a McDonald's. It was so sketchy. The people there were so sketchy. My sister and I just wanted to grab a coffee, take a bathroom break, and then go. It took them we just asked for basic coffee. It took them like 20 minutes to make the or to fix the order.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Two coffees, nothing special.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:And then we got the coffees and they were disgusting. I mean, I waited. I took a nap on the way to the next destination, and I was gonna have my coffee there. And when I tried it, I I took one sip and threw it out. It was awful.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So I'm sorry, but I didn't care about the place.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:Our next stop was at Myrtle Beach.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:In which we were supposed to watch fireworks at uh on the ocean.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh we were an hour late. Yeah, we're still and you said happy new year. I was like, oh, I guess it's New Year now.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh in passing, I saw one guy light a firework in his backyard. Just one. And that's all I saw for fireworks.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That was it.
SPEAKER_01:And I was in the backpack, so I didn't even hear or see it. I just heard it.
SPEAKER_05:I I feel I think I could hear fireworks. I didn't see them. I just saw the one.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05:And it was very disappointing.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, it was.
SPEAKER_05:Well, we got to Myrtle Beach around one in the morning. And we walked to the beach, we walked to the ocean. I got to touch the ocean and it was nice.
SPEAKER_01:And I got to touch your hand. My hand? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Because I I didn't go to the ocean ocean.
SPEAKER_05:I got to hold your hand.
SPEAKER_01:No. And it was so nice. Well, you you had the ocean on your hand, so I got to touch the ocean.
SPEAKER_05:From my hand.
SPEAKER_01:Second hand.
SPEAKER_05:Second hand. You were the second hand that the that piece of ocean touched, I think. Anyway, um, so we did that and we walked along the boardwalk and we went back to the car. And oh my gosh, it was my turn to drive. And and I thought, this is gonna go just fine, I'm sure, because I'm nice and awake from the ocean and everything's good. And then my life partner decided he was gonna take a nap because he was the one keeping me up.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I was like, yeah, sure, go ahead. I'm fine, everything's fine. He starts snoring, and my eyes are closing.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Now, this car that we had had cruise control and it also had like the self-steering kind of it could read the lines on the road. So it was for the most part okay.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I mean, um, yeah, my eyes were closing a little bit, but it was it was okay. It's not okay. No, it's not okay at all.
SPEAKER_04:But you were you had your eyes glued to me from the back of the car, the very back of the car. Yeah, I saw you the whole time.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I uh I needed to make sure your Clice uh Clice I needed to make sure your eyes didn't close.
SPEAKER_05:So that's um and they might have a couple times because a couple times my eyes opened and there was like a car on the side of the road, and I was like, whoa. So yeah, there came a point where I was like, you know what? We need to stop. Yeah. We need to stop for like give me an hour. Yeah. Just an hour. And so we found a rest stop in South Carolina because it lasts forever.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:South Carolina does not end. We stopped and we were gonna end up stopping somewhere for like an hour anyway, because the breakfast place we were gonna go to was still gonna be closed for another hour when we got there.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So it didn't really matter. No. So we napped for an hour and a half. It was half an hour longer than I wanted, but whatever. It didn't really matter.
SPEAKER_01:It was needed though.
SPEAKER_05:It was really needed. And then, like after an hour and a half, I was fine. I was up, and it was like normal time for me to be awake.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So I was good to go.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, me too. I uh I felt so awake after that hour and a half.
SPEAKER_05:Uh, but you know what? That rest stop, I've been there before.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, because my mom has stopped there and taken a nap as well. I recognized the place, and I'm pretty sure it's the same spot.
SPEAKER_01:That's the nap stop.
SPEAKER_05:That's the nap stop, and it was it was nice. Yeah, it was like I've done this before. This is cool. So I got everyone up and they had coffee monsters at the rest stop as well. And so I got one of those and I was happy. So I got all of us to Jacksonville, Florida. Okay. We finally made it to Florida, and we went to the Golden Corral for breakfast buffet. Everyone was grumpy, no one was happy. I didn't know what I was doing because I had like never been there before. And yeah, we're all just tired. We're all exhausted. We don't want to be driving anymore, but we still have like another three hours to get to uh Spring Hill, which is where our hotel was. So we got to the hotel after the breakfast.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my god, it was a really long night. We got to the hotel and I had booked two rooms for the seven of us.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. I don't know what I was thinking. I had something planned out in my head, and I don't think it was realistic. Because we got up to the rooms and we all were like, this isn't gonna work out.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:I don't think anyone really wants to share a bed. And it's not even just for one night. No. Had it been one night, I would have been like, you guys got a deal.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We're gonna figure something out.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I mean they had uh like armchairs. I could have used one an armchair, but for what was it, three nights?
SPEAKER_05:It was like three or four nights. Yeah. Yeah. So uh luckily I was oh my gosh, the lady at the counter was so nice. Because uh, I mean she was watching us as well in the hallway trying to discuss what we're gonna do. And I was like, okay, well, I'm just gonna get another one of the rooms that you were supposed to be in.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:With two beds, two queen size beds. I was just gonna get another one of those. So I went down and she was waiting for me at the elevator because she saw that I was coming. Okay. She's like, hi, I was just gonna come and check on you. I was like, Yeah, this isn't gonna work out. We need another room. And she was like, Okay, well, do you want these rooms further down the hall that are like they're conjoined, but they're the same rooms and they're closer, and then you can have the king-size bed that's like just a few doors down. I was like, Yeah, that's perfect. We'll do that. Then we've got a boy's room with you and my oldest, and then a girl's room with Auntie Monster and my daughter, and then the king-sized bed for myself, my life partner, and sick child. And it all worked out really well.
SPEAKER_01:It did.
SPEAKER_05:So we got settled in there, and my life partner and I uh did a sneak journey over to Duncan's because they were right next door. Yeah, and where Duncan's was next door, and it was great. Yeah, and we also went over to TJ Maxx, which was across the street. Okay, and uh we did some shopping there, and then we came back and later on we went out to Arby's for dinner. Yeah, and we had sandwiches, I think.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And you were happy?
SPEAKER_01:I was, because that's what was my suggestion. Right. Go to Arby's.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. All right. The next day we went to Denny's for breakfast, brunch. We uh were going to meet at 9 53 and 30 seconds.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, in the morning.
SPEAKER_05:It was very specific time. Yeah, and we went to Denny's and we also did laundry. We did laundry at the hotel, and we managed to get a quarter jammed into the the quarter slot because it was a little bent.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And that was fun. But we we got laundry done.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we yeah, the there was a guy with a screwdriver.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, good.
SPEAKER_01:Got there and fixed the thing, and then it was all good.
SPEAKER_05:It was good. Okay. And then that evening we had dinner with my uncle at his farm where my well, all the kids had like these small vehicles they were driving around, but my oldest didn't fit in them. So he was a little sad. And so my uncle was like, Well, there's a little Jeep over there. I was like, Okay. He was like, You want to go drive that? I was like, I can drive that. So I got in and it felt like something my dad would have driven. So I was like, I I know this. This is something I I'm familiar with. And my oldest came with me, and we my uncle has a little trail within his farm. It's not like a farm farm, like for uh vegetables and animals. It's I don't know what kind of farm it is. No, but it's called a farm. Okay, and uh, so there's a trail, and we drove the trail, and then my oldest wanted a turn to drive, and it was his first time driving, and he's 13 and he uh did one lap and then 10 more pretty much after that, and he was really happy. But yeah, that was that evening.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, right?
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, the next day we went to Wiki Washi. Oh yeah, and we saw the mermaids, and everyone got to see the animal show except the two of us.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So we got to hang out outside the animal show, and then we went to uh Walmart afterwards because I mean it was the off season, there wasn't a lot more to see. We didn't get to see manatees, no, we didn't go on a boat ride or anything. So we went to Walmart and we bought an ice cream cake. Yeah. Just cuz it was good. It was good and then that evening we did go to Longhorn. Finally, even though I had reserved a table, we still had to wait like it took time. An hour, I think.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh, but we did get in eventually.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_05:And we had dinner, and it was nice. My daughter discovered that she loves potato soup. Yeah. Was it potato?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, potato soup.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, she was in love with it. She got two bowls.
SPEAKER_01:The best thing was that we could walk around outside there.
SPEAKER_05:Oh yeah. We didn't know.
SPEAKER_01:We couldn't really do that uh in New Hampshire because it was so cold.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, but it was like evening, but it was it wasn't that cold. It was it was a little chilly. Yeah, because it was chillier days, but um it wasn't New Hampshire cold, it wasn't snow, it was Florida.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, Florida cold.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. The next day we checked out of the hotel, and then we had to check out at like 11, but we couldn't check in to the next place until like four. So we had all this time, and it took less time to get to uh Orlando than I thought. It took like half the time, yeah. So we had to figure out something to do. So on our way to Orlando, we stopped at Legoland, just a random stop. You know, we need something to do. Let's just go to Legoland. Because what else do people usually do when they're trying to kill time? Amusement parks.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And Legoland was so cool.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was really nice.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, and like there was so much to look at. And you meant Jackie Chan in Lego form.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Kind of. It was a statue.
SPEAKER_01:Well, yeah, it was uh Master Wu from uh Lego Ninjago, who was who uh Jackie Chan did the voice for in the movie.
SPEAKER_05:Right, and we went on some rides.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and well I didn't, but I was the bag holder.
SPEAKER_05:You were the bag holder, and that's always appreciated. Yeah, yeah, that was that was that. We went to Legoland and then we I still had fun. Yeah, it was a lot of cool things to look at.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Afterwards, we went to uh the Airbnb house. We had a huge house that we rented, and uh we went there and it was really cool, and everyone had space, everyone got their own room, yeah, which was really cool. Really cool, really cool, and we spent the evening in the pool because there was a pool, it was a heated pool, and it was awesome. Yeah, we had fun, and yeah, the next day we hung out pretty much at the house, I think. Yeah, and played in the pool. Um, yeah. We had a chill day pretty much, which was needed. I we didn't leave the house all day, so we ordered food to the house. Yeah, and that was cool. Yeah, that's what we did. And we watched Pitch Perfect out in the pool.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah, right?
SPEAKER_05:We had a projector out there and put on pitch perfect. We wanted to watch Spirited, but I couldn't figure it out.
SPEAKER_01:No, and we couldn't really hear the movie that much of the bubbles, yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And it was really quiet anyway. Yeah, even without the bubbles, it was still hard to hear.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And then the next day we went to Universal Studios, the parks. We went to Volcano Bay.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And it's this big water park, and most of us played in the water.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I did not. My life partner and I went down a water slide, which was really high up. Okay. And it was kind of scary at first. He was the most scared because he had to go down it backwards. He had his back to uh, you know, wherever we were going.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:And I was on the other side. I could see where we were going, but he was going in blind, pretty much.
SPEAKER_01:Why did he do that?
SPEAKER_05:Uh, because that's what they told him to do. Oh. They sat him in this spot, you know, here, and I was across from him, and then they pushed us in, and he his back was to uh the front. Uh-huh. You know?
SPEAKER_01:Okay, okay. So it was a tube. It was a tube, okay. Right. Okay, sorry.
SPEAKER_05:Uh so we did that, and he was so scared because he couldn't see what we were doing.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:And then I tried to warn him that we were gonna go into the pool at the very end to be kind of helpful, but still. But I mean, the ride was okay. And we did the the floaty uh lazy river. You sit in a tube, you know, a a donut, yeah, and you're supposed to just float around along the river, and there's like a current, like a robotic current. Okay. You know what I mean? Yeah. Not like robotic, but you know, it's a I understand a man made current.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And so You were supposed to just sit in the tube and float.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:And it went around in the lap. And then you were supposed to get out.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Um I I made my sister go under a waterfall, which knocked off her sunglasses. Oh. Into the water. Oh, okay. And so she was out of her tube, holding on to her tube and trying to catch her sunglasses. And I was like, oh well, I'm gonna help you. So I get out and I I'm like, oh, I have your sunglasses. I pick them up and I'm like, these are mine. Oh, I didn't even realize that I had dropped mine as well.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:And then she found the lens to her sunglasses, just one lens, and it was all scratched up, and we never actually got her sunglasses.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, so okay, now I understand what what the all the sunglass talk was about.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:No one really told me this.
SPEAKER_05:We ended up getting like two or three pairs of sunglasses for her because she kept losing them or something. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_05:So that's what happened.
SPEAKER_01:Now I understand.
SPEAKER_05:And then we went back to the beach and I took a nap.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And then we uh so hot. It was, it was really warm. We all took our stuff back to the car and we went to City Walk at Universal and we did all the shopping.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We uh yeah, we went through the souvenir shops and got a whole bunch of stuff. And did we eat anywhere out there? Where did we go?
SPEAKER_01:I don't remember if we did.
SPEAKER_05:Oh yeah, no. I had a table booked at Rainforest Cafe, which was in Disney Springs. So after we were done at City Walk, we went to Disney Springs. And we went to the Rainforest Cafe, which has always been like a childhood memory for my sister and I, because we used to go to the Rainforest Cafe every now and then up north, but those locations are don't exist anymore.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:So it was most logical that we go in Florida since it's there.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we were being all secretive with the waitress. Yeah. Because uh we were going to uh surprise you with birthday. They were supposed to sing happy birthday to you, even though it wasn't your birthday, and you were supposed to get a volcano, but there was a misunderstanding because the waitress asked me if we wanted any dessert, and I was like, no, not really. No one's really hungry. And I thought that my sister had it covered because she was the one talking to the waitress.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And since I said no to dessert, we didn't get the volcano, which is basically a big brownie with ice cream and like chocolate flowing over. And they used to have like a sparkler.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Like a lit sparkler.
SPEAKER_02:Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And uh I guess that's not allowed anymore because they have this plastic sparkle thing coming out instead, which isn't as fun, but I get it's a fire hazard, I'm sure. Yeah. But we still got to sing happy birthday to you got a cupcake. I did. Yeah. And yeah. And we also went to the Disney store while we were in Disney.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That was before dinner. Anyway, we did that.
SPEAKER_02:We did that.
SPEAKER_05:And then we went back home.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:The next day, my life partner decided that he wasn't gonna go with us to the parks because his legs had been hurting really bad. He had some kind of infection in one of his legs. So he was like suffering the whole time. So we all went to Universal Studios, the theme park.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Without him. And we started our day at Bubba Gump.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah, we're dead.
SPEAKER_05:The shrimp place. But I had a salad without shrimp, which was nice that they had something without shrimp.
SPEAKER_01:I had shrimp.
SPEAKER_05:You had shrimp. Everyone else, except for my daughter, I think she had chicken fingers or something.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh yeah, everyone else had shrimp though. And oh yeah, Sick Child had a burger, I think. So it really was just you and my oldest and Auntie Monster who had shrimp.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway, you and I took Sick Child.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And Auntie Monster took the big kids. And we wandered around the parks because we didn't want to wait for them to get off the ride that they ran off to.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So we we walked.
SPEAKER_01:We went on two rides that day.
SPEAKER_05:Right. We went on ET.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And then Trolls.
SPEAKER_05:Trolls. Troller coaster.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. And we got ice cream. And Sick Child got to meet Scooby-Doo.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. You got to meet Beetlejuice. Yes.
SPEAKER_05:I was very happy. And he got annoyed with you because you took too long taking your camera out. And we looked at the stars.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:On the the Hollywood stars.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And uh found Sylvester Stallone.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. I found someone named Lauren, which is my name. And that was fun. And then uh Sick Child and I were hanging out on the lawn in front of the stage. Uh it was just on the ground. And I let you go walk around. And then Auntie Monster and the big kids came around and they were pretty much done. They just wanted to hang out as well. But I was looking at the MBC building right across there.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I assumed that you had gone in there.
SPEAKER_01:No, I didn't even know it was a ride.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, yeah. Uh I I didn't really know either, but I went in and I wandered around and I saw that there were a lot of people coming out, so I was like, I'm gonna try this. Yeah. I'm gonna see what this is. So I went in and I sat down in my spot on in this ride because it was a car ride through New York City with Jimmy Fallon.
SPEAKER_02:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:And it was a 3D ride. And I realized that after I had sat down and everyone else put their 3D glasses on, I didn't get 3D glasses. I didn't know where to get them. No. I didn't know I was even supposed to pick any up.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:So I did the ride even without the 3D glasses, and it went just as fine, and it still had the same effect on me. Yeah. There was a point where you're supposed to be like way up in the sky looking down. And you know, I don't like that. So I got a little scared, even though it's just a screen.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But like you really get into it because it's like big screen, so it feels like you're kind of there. Although obviously you're not, because everything is made, so it's supposed to be 3D.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So everything is like double.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But still, it had the effect on me. And uh, so that was fun. And uh I met up with all of you who were still in the yard on the lawn, and we went to the hard rock cafe.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And that's when Sick Child started giving up on me, and he didn't want to be a part of it anymore. But we managed to get him to cooperate eventually, and it was nice. I love that place.
SPEAKER_01:We had some food.
SPEAKER_05:We had some food. We kind of looked around a little bit. Yeah. Not nearly as much as I usually would.
SPEAKER_01:I got some socks.
SPEAKER_05:You got socks. We went to the souvenir shop, the gift shop, yeah, and bought some stuff.
SPEAKER_01:And I thought it was kind of cool that I had a Volbeat shirt on. And when we got outside, it started playing Volbeat.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:That was I'm like, was that for me?
SPEAKER_05:That was for you. I did that for you. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_05:Yep. Let's say I did. The next morning we did make it to Krispy Kreme while they were making donuts. And it was awesome. And my life partner came with us, but he wasn't very thrilled because he didn't want sugar for breakfast. And at that point, he was missing his Swedish breakfast, which is not something he has every day, anyway. He's like, I miss Swedish sandwiches. He's like, you usually have yogurt for breakfast. I don't know why you're complaining about sandwiches.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay. So on this day, we went to Islands of Adventure. Oh yes.
SPEAKER_01:I really like that one.
SPEAKER_05:And you and I went to the Doctor Seuss land.
SPEAKER_01:We did.
SPEAKER_05:And we went on the cat in the hat ride. That was like the first thing we went to.
SPEAKER_01:Uh yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_05:Which was very fun. And then we did another Doctor Seuss with the Sneeches. Yeah, the train. Which was kinda high up, but it was okay.
SPEAKER_01:It was nice. Uh I really liked that one too.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. We wandered around, we saw the Harry Potter things, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It was a little Harry Potter land. And Jurassic Park.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Uh let's see.
SPEAKER_05:We And we went on the Popeye ride. Oh yeah. The water ride.
SPEAKER_01:We got really wet.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my goodness, we go soaked. Yeah, that was fun.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And we also went on Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, we went on Spider-Man. We waited for like half an hour for that. Yeah. Oh yeah. Before that, we got pretzels.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which were good. And we wandered around. And then we were about as far away from the entrance when my sister wrote, We're gonna meet at the entrance. Yeah, we Oh yeah, that was when we were in line to the Kong ride. Oh yeah. Where we almost got eaten up by a dinosaur.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we did that too.
SPEAKER_05:That was cool on the giant Kong uh robot guy at the end. Yeah. So cool. So big.
SPEAKER_01:It was really cool. I I really liked the Spider-Man too. Yeah. It was really cool too.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Because that one was similar to the Jimmy Fallon.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I f I felt also like, okay, we're falling now.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, yeah, but we were sitting still.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we were, but uh, it felt like we were falling.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, so we did all that and we like tried zooming to the entrance. Yeah. And we met up with everyone, and we went to a restaurant on City Walk. We went to uh I don't remember what it was called, but it was kind of fancy.
SPEAKER_01:It was.
SPEAKER_05:It had like grilled meat and stuff.
SPEAKER_01:And they said happy birth birthday to my Mike. My to me.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. And that was it. Yeah. They didn't sing or anything. They just said Oh, it's your birthday? Happy birthday.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And that was it.
SPEAKER_01:I'm like, I'm expecting more.
SPEAKER_05:Right.
SPEAKER_01:This is no rainforest cafe.
SPEAKER_05:I'm used to getting more. Yes. So yeah, we were going to do some kind of escape room that was Jurassic World themed, but there was technical difficulties. So we ended up not doing that.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And so my sister took Sick Child and my daughter to the car to wait for us to fix the cancellation and everything.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we ended up staying at the restaurant for a bit and having some s'mores without them.
SPEAKER_01:Oh yeah, we did. And it was good. Yeah. Did you know about that?
SPEAKER_05:No.
SPEAKER_01:Sorry.
SPEAKER_05:Sorry. We had dessert without you guys, and it was really cool.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, you had fun in the car.
SPEAKER_05:I'm sure you did. I'm sure. Alright, so then we got the whole thing fixed, and we went back to the gift shop at Hard Rock Cafe because my oldest liked a pair of sweatpants that he had gotten the night before, but they were too small on him. So we had to get a bigger size.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And that's what we did. And then we went to the car. Yeah. And we went home.
SPEAKER_02:We did.
SPEAKER_05:And then the next morning we went to Epic Universe. Yeah. The last park at Universal that we were gonna go to.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my goodness. The place was really cool. The lines for the rides were at least like two hours each. So long. Ridiculous. We stood in line for the Mario Kart for an hour and a half. Yeah. Almost two hours, pretty much. And I tried keeping it was you, me, and my life partner and Sick Child who were in line for that. And I did my very best to keep Sick Child entertained.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I had him explain everything about Minecraft for me because he likes to talk.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And when he knows things, he likes to talk about the things he know. We stood in line for a really long time. And then what did you think of that ride even?
SPEAKER_01:I mean, I liked it. It wasn't my favorite, but uh it was cool. I did not really understand that uh you could see your points at the end. I don't really know where you saw it. Was it on the thing?
SPEAKER_05:It was on like the VR screen in front of you. You might have been looking to the side, so you didn't see it.
SPEAKER_01:I I th and I think I was pretty quick taking that thing off. So I didn't really look. Because I didn't know. Yeah. No one explained that to me.
SPEAKER_05:I didn't know it was gonna show up either, but I just saw a number in front of me and I assumed that was my point.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I think I won. Yeah, so I felt kind of stupid not looking.
SPEAKER_05:Honestly, my thoughts on the ride were yeah, it's cool with the VR thing and all that.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We would have been more impressed with actual go-karts.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That would have been way more fun to actually go on a race.
SPEAKER_01:But I I feel like with kids and everything, it's bound to be stuck somewhere and someone gets stuck, someone get hit. Yeah, I don't think they would let anyone do that.
SPEAKER_05:Well, I mean, even like they could sit with an adult.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Then we went we we gave up pretty much on Super Mario World because I mean, which is really kind of disappointing for me because it was really cool. I wanted to look around more, but there were so many people.
SPEAKER_02:So many people.
SPEAKER_05:It was ridiculous. You could not move. So we went to Dark Universe.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And my oldest and I got matching painted tattoos.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which was fun. And we went on a Frankenstein ride, which I was expecting was gonna be a lot scarier because we saw a roller coaster.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And we went into an entrance which was not to the roller coaster. But that's kind of what we were expecting. Yeah. So I was like kind of panicking because I mean it looked like it was kind of fun.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But you know, I I get panicky. But this ride was all indoors and it was fun. It was good.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which you got to ride with us later.
SPEAKER_01:Later.
SPEAKER_05:That was like the last thing we did was go on the ride again.
SPEAKER_01:And I I have to say that I think that was uh even cooler when we went in uh when it was dark. Yeah. Not daylight. Uh it was it uh it was darker. Yeah. So I th because then you could see the the castle or whatever it is. Oh yeah. You know, all the flashes and yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, into uh the dark universe. Yeah the yeah, yeah, the land there.
SPEAKER_01:And the ride.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. So I thought that was cool. And I really liked that one. It was good. Although I was kind of uh scared that I would lose my crocs because they weren't secure at all.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, no, I had my flip-flops on.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and uh so I uh I pressed my feet together so the crocs would stay on.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So they wouldn't fly away.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. But um throughout the day we went through the Harry Potter land, which wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it would be. You weren't expecting it to be exciting at all because you don't even like Harry Potter.
SPEAKER_01:No, not really.
SPEAKER_05:But there was also the dragon's land, yeah. Which was fun.
SPEAKER_01:It looked it looked cool.
SPEAKER_05:And my kids made me go on a ride.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I didn't like it. No, I I was oh my gosh. My oldest does this thing where he's like, yeah, go on this ride. It's really fun, it's not even that bad. And no, it doesn't go upside down and it's not that fast. And it's like, it's it's not that bad, mom. Come on, come on, no problem. And then I start getting closer and I see how far up it goes. I'm like, I'm starting to have a panic attack because I I don't I don't want to do this. I don't want to go up this high. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. And then I sit next to my oldest and we go on this ride, and at first it's okay, it's all right. It's really high up, and I I don't like that, but it's okay. And then I start getting like really scared, so I close my eyes and then I open them and we're upside down, and I'm like, oh my god. So I close my eyes for the rest of the time, and I was screaming, or and or no, when I closed my eyes, I stopped screaming, and I just like I I went like uh you know, statue mode. Like, this isn't happening. I'm I'm I'm not gonna live through this, and uh oh my god, this is the worst thing I've ever gone through in my entire life. Yeah, and it went on for so long, it felt like it went on forever, and then we finally stopped, and I was like, oh I I I couldn't talk. I was like, I was so scared. Yeah, like I didn't like it at all. And then the result was the picture that was taken while we were on the ride, which happens to be the funniest picture I've ever taken of myself. I didn't take it, but it was taken of me, and I am like crying, and my oldest is looking at me laughing. He is laughing so hard because I am freaking out.
SPEAKER_01:Everyone seemed to enjoy it except for you on that picture.
SPEAKER_05:That's exactly what happened. And my life partner also went on that ride and his stomach like flipped upside down. Yeah. And so the rest of the evening he did not feel well. Uh it was awful. I hated it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I I was a little bit disappointed because I thought that um uh we saw uh Ferris Wheel.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I wanted to go.
SPEAKER_05:Also known as a Paris Wheel. Uh according to my daughter.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, according to fancy people.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, a Paris wheel.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Uh but uh it wasn't on that uh that park park.
SPEAKER_05:I don't know where it was.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:Maybe it was Disney.
SPEAKER_01:Maybe it was.
SPEAKER_05:I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so I kind of because you could see it from when we entered, right? You could see it in the distance, and I'm like, oh, I want to go on a Ferris wheel.
SPEAKER_05:A Paris wheel?
SPEAKER_01:A Paris wheel. Yeah, if I'm fancy I want to go on Paris wheel.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah, no.
SPEAKER_05:That didn't happen.
SPEAKER_01:Never happened.
SPEAKER_05:No one got to go on a Paris wheel.
SPEAKER_01:No. And though I I would have liked that, but uh yeah, they didn't have it.
SPEAKER_05:So we didn't find it.
SPEAKER_01:No.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway, so we went home after that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That was the last day at Universal that we had. We had four days, four different parks.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Or something. And so the next day was a chill day for the most part. Get laundry done and everything. I took my older kids to Target. You were also there.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. And we did one last round at Target. We grabbed the things that we want to bring home with us.
SPEAKER_01:Got another bag.
SPEAKER_05:Got another suitcase and um accidentally filled half of it with the snacks that I bought. I bought a suitcase to fill halfway with snacks.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:That wasn't the intention really, but that's what ended up happening. Yeah. Yeah. And then we went to Crumble Cookies, which is a place that my daughter was asking about before the trip. Like, can we go here? And I was like, I've never heard of it. I don't know where it is, but I'm not gonna make promises, but I'll keep it in mind. And I did, because when I was looking for Target on the maps I saw nearby was crumble.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was so close.
SPEAKER_05:Really close. And so it was like perfect. We have a surprise after Target.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And so we got some cookies after Target. And they were big cookies. We even got a cookie cutter.
SPEAKER_02:Oh.
SPEAKER_05:That wasn't, it's not the cookie cutter you think. It's not like a gingerbread cookie cutter.
SPEAKER_02:No.
SPEAKER_05:Um, it is a slicer.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Like a pizza slicer. Yeah. Except it's not really big. Yeah, it's a it's a cookie divider.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh, because the cookie is so big.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh, and so we had some cookies. We brought them home, actually, and did laundry. Spent the majority of the evening in the pool.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Because well, everyone was like chilling, everyone was relaxing and napping and just yeah, recovering from the past four days.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I don't know how to do that. Everyone relaxes, but I can't.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:I tried to relax by the pool, and then I put my feet in the pool and it was so warm. And so I was like, everyone needs to get into the pool right now because it is so warm. And it was like, it was too warm.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Honestly.
SPEAKER_01:I don't know if it was that time, but I I had a headache after the pool.
SPEAKER_05:Maybe because it was really warm.
SPEAKER_01:Almost too warm.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Like I couldn't even stay in the pool the whole time.
SPEAKER_01:I slowly got a headache.
SPEAKER_05:Moved myself out of the pool.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Um, but yeah, most of us went into the pool and we played.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And then that evening, uh it was fun playing in the pool though. It was. It was surprising that you were so easy to get into the pool. Because usually you're very scared of water.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But this time it went well.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. The pool was warm.
SPEAKER_05:It was warm.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It was too warm.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:This time. This last time.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh so yeah, we did that. And then like this whole time we've been in this house in or nearby Orlando. I had been talking to my uncle about, you know, going out for dinner at some point, but like plans kept changing every day. So it was really difficult. And he's like, another time, another time. And because he was he was staying in the same house as we were uh with his wife. And so on our chill day, we finally got to go out to dinner with him.
SPEAKER_01:We went to that was the last chance too.
SPEAKER_05:Right. It was the only option at this point. And we went to the Golden Corral like we did in Jacksonville when we arrived in Florida. So it was the first place and the last place that we ate at in Florida.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So we did that and we had dinner, we had some desserts, and my youngest got stuck at one of the like claw games out by the like the front desk. Oh, and it was filled with rubber duckies.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And so I let him catch a few rubber duckies. I thought that it was gonna be like you get five tries and then you don't get any more tries. No, it doesn't stop until you get five duckies.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05:You don't stop until you have five duckies. You pay for five duckies, you get five duckies. And so then my daughter also wanted to do the ducky game, and she got so many duckies, and I don't even know why she got so many duckies. Because you were only supposed to get five. She got like ten and it was crazy. So we left with a whole bunch of rubber duckies, and then we went home, I think. And we had movie night. Oh yeah. Which we already talked about.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Sorry for did you mention mention that we uh watched Forrest Gump?
SPEAKER_05:Oh yeah. The the same day that we went to Bubba Gump, we watched Forrest Gump on the projector on the wall in the house, and the kids seemed to enjoy it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Although there were a couple scenes where I was like, should they even be watching this?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, they're maybe not.
SPEAKER_05:It was okay, I guess. Nobody said anything. So yeah. But they enjoyed it. They thought it was funny, I guess.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Anyway, last day, managed to pack everything into the bags. It was a little chaotic. We had to share space in the bags.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh, even though I had bought a new bag. Snack bag. Snack bag. Was not intended to be a snack bag. That's what it ended up being.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Auntie Monster left before we all woke up.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:She had a flight back to Boston. And my uncle and his wife had just suddenly disappeared with her and didn't say anything. So that was kind of sad.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But yeah, we got our bags packed. We had to be out by 11. We were out by 9.30.
SPEAKER_01:Yay.
SPEAKER_05:Because for some reason my life partner was super stressed. He's like, we have to be there really early. Okay. I don't think we have to leave at 9.30. I wanted to leave around 2, but we had to leave by 11. But we left at 9.30. Yeah. And we made a few stops on the way.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:We stopped at McDonald's first because Sick Child had been asking the whole time, can we go to McDonald's? I was like, we have McDonald's in Sweden. Yeah. Like, I don't want to go to McDonald's. But we went to McDonald's for his sake, because we had nothing else to do. And then my life partner was like, let's go to Subway. I was like, fine, we'll go to Subway. So we went to Subway.
SPEAKER_01:We have Subway in Sweden, but it's not the same thing. It's not the same. No, not at all. So that was kind of cool though.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, we went to Subway and it was pretty good. And then the last requirement for me was Dairy Queen. Because I saw that there was one nearby. It's like we have to go to Dairy Queen. And everyone kept saying Dairy Queen closes in 10 minutes, but they weren't even open yet. No. Anyway, we we had ice cream at Dairy Queen.
SPEAKER_01:We did. And then And sorry, Auntie Monster.
SPEAKER_05:Sorry you weren't there. Wish you were there.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Too bad. Too bad. Too bad you had to leave so early.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, had you not left so early, you could have gone to Dairy Queen. But hey, that was your choice. So then we went to the airport in Orlando. And since Mr. Life partner was so stressed out, we had to wait like two hours before we could even check in our bags.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which was a hassle because I didn't know where I was going. I didn't know what I was doing. And it was just kind of annoying. But yeah, we we pretty much wandered the airport until it was time. Yeah. And then we checked in our bags uh after some chaos and um security was chaotic because that's what it is. For us, it went well.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I didn't have any problems.
SPEAKER_05:We found our way to the gate and we got pizza. And the the waiting area was pretty cool because they had like the armrests had phone chargers, the wireless. Okay, just put your phone down and it charges for your phone, but it only worked in one row.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:On one side.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So uh yeah, it was cool for them who got to use it.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:The rest of us had to suffer.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Uh we waited for the flight. Yeah. And we got on. And we watched movies.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_05:We flew to Iceland again.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. That went well, I think.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And people were hungry.
SPEAKER_05:People were hungry, but it was like the middle of the night in both America and uh Iceland, pretty much.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And they wanted pizza. I was like, why do you want pizza in the middle of the night? They were like, I haven't eaten in seven hours. I was like, so?
SPEAKER_01:I was just thirsty.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. I was also thirsty and I wanted coffee. But uh uh I found a little convenience shop on the other side of the building, pretty much.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05:And I ended up finding some sandwiches and eating anyway.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Because ooh, a bagel sounds good. But it wasn't really a bagel, it was bread in the shape of a bagel.
SPEAKER_01:I like the playing area that we found.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my god. Play area. There was a sign for a play area. It was a couple bumps on the ground.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And a half slide. Yeah. It was like a two-foot slide.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I was like not impressed. But I mean, it was, you know, Iceland quality playground. At least for Iceland air. Everything's so cheap there.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. We didn't really have to stay that long anyway.
SPEAKER_05:So no. No. It was okay.
SPEAKER_01:I I felt it went uh Oh my goodness, the flights were fast.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Because the first flight, it was supposed to take seven hours, and then they said six hours. I was like, you must have said wrong. Yeah. And then on the screen it said six hours as well. And I was like, what?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Okay, so we're gonna be an hour early. That's fine. I have no problem with being early. And then the next flight was the same.
SPEAKER_01:It was supposed to be like three something and was two fifty.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Both of them were like really fast.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And this is where I want to talk about that last flight.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my goodness. I was nervous from the t the point we lifted off. Okay. Because it got so shaky. It was abnormally shaky.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:And I was thinking, like, are should we even be flying right now? Is the plane okay to be flying right now? Like, because it was it was shaking bad. I don't know if you like I didn't notice. You didn't notice? No. Because I noticed that it was like it felt like turbulence on the way up. Like it was really windy.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And I was just really nervous. And then every time it did that again, it shook a little bit again. I was like, where are we even? Are we above ground? Are we above water? Like, where are we?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, that's why you screamed all the time.
SPEAKER_05:The whole time. And then I closed my eyes and I went in statue mode.
SPEAKER_01:Just like you're right.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. And then someone took a picture of me and it was like the same face.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And then you opened your eyes. So we were upside down.
SPEAKER_05:We were upside down. Like, oh my god. No, we we never went upside down. No. But I did get really nervous on this flight. And we I took like micro naps on this flight as well. Somehow I managed.
SPEAKER_01:I did that too.
SPEAKER_05:My oldest was sleeping on me, and I was also with Sick Child, I believe, on that flight, and he had fallen asleep. I only got really micro naps until we got home. But like even that night when we got home, I took a nap and then woke up in the middle of the night and was like, I'm awake now.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Which I told you about earlier. We're going in circles. Okay, so we got to Boston. We found Dontie Monster. And I went straight to Duncan's. Yeah. No, we we got back to Stockholm.
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_05:And my life partner's mother was there waiting for us. And she took Sick Child and my daughter and their bags. We got rid of two of the kids, and we were supposed to take a bus back to the car hotel, and uh the guy zoomed right past us, and apparently we were we were waiting in the wrong spot. So then we went to the right spot. But already I was cold and I was exhausted. My feet were soaked because my shoes were not made for the snow or the wet. And it was just cold and I was kind of miserable. And honestly, I almost started crying because not only was I was tired mostly, but I was thinking like we went from Florida, it was warm, it was summer, and now it's snow. Yeah, it was covered in snow, not it was like half a meter, right? Yeah. Of snow. It's a lot of snow. And I was just, I was kind of sad, but I was mostly emotional because I was tired.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I was kind of the opposite. I'm like, oh, it's not that warm anymore.
SPEAKER_05:Uh yes. Well, we are opposites in that way.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:But we finally did get on a bus. We got to the car. We had to dig the car out of the snow. Not we. My life partner did that because he's better than me. And we got home. We recorded a little bit. And then I brought you home.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:And that was it. That was the trip.
SPEAKER_01:That was it. Then I started to feel sick. Well, I I actually did feel a little bit on the plane, but I was like, maybe it's just the plane. You know, the airs and everything. Because sometimes sometimes that happens.
SPEAKER_05:That was the trip. I hope everyone enjoyed the story. If you've made it this far, please write in the comments, tell me about an adventure that you've taken that was super fun and exciting. Um, something we haven't done in a while. SPEAKER_01:My life is ruined by my cold.
SPEAKER_05:Right. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Uh, what's ruining your life?
SPEAKER_05:Lack of sleep.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah, that too.
SPEAKER_05:Are you out of sips?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, I am.
