Cold Open And Mic Check
SPEAKER_05I'm good at this breaking fast next.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, we're recording. Sorry. Hello. Hello. Should we start this?
SPEAKER_01We can start this.
Weather Updates And Life Highlights
SPEAKER_05Start it. Okay. Okay. Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghostie. My name is Matthias.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Lauren.
SPEAKER_05We're gonna be your besties for an hour or so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah? Yeah. Okay. That's it. Okay. That's it. Okay. Matias. Yeah. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_05I'm doing well.
SPEAKER_01Good.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah. Uh how are you doing?
SPEAKER_01I'm pretty good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. Do you like the nice weather outside?
SPEAKER_01It is so warm.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's it's summer today. It is definitely summer weather. I'm in my shorts and tank top. Yeah. And I wore my flippy floppies today. Which means it must be summer.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So that's pretty exciting for me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yes, so.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Well, what if do you have any highlights from the past week?
SPEAKER_05Uh I don't know. Um, I um highlights. Yeah, I started working again for real this time. Not just once a week or so. Now it's actually uh, you know, the entire weeks, every day kind of thing. So yeah, that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_06Good, good.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Yeah, oh uh yesterday it was the bonfire thing that we have in Sweden.
SPEAKER_01It was the the day the the day for the evil spirits.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, scaring them away that day.
SPEAKER_05That day was yesterday. So now they're gone. The evil spirits are gone.
SPEAKER_01Good. The evil winter spirits.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01And now it's summer.
SPEAKER_05Now it's summer.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh how about you?
Gymnastics Weekend And MJ Movie
SPEAKER_01I do have highlights. Last weekend my daughter had gymnastics competition and it was fun to watch. And then we went to the mall and we hung out there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Afterwards.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and also we watched a movie at cinema.
SPEAKER_01We did on Monday.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Tuesday.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. One day.
SPEAKER_01One of those days we watched a movie at the cinemas. We watched the Michael Jackson movie. Um, what did you think about it? Without giving too much away.
SPEAKER_05Okay, yeah, I really I I really liked it. I felt like time just flew by, and that's a good good sign.
SPEAKER_01It was two hours.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it did not feel like two hours to me.
SPEAKER_01I did feel like the ending might have been a little abrupt.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. That was one of the cons. Yeah. Hopefully we'll get a sequel or like a continuation.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that would be really cool. I don't think there's been a biopic with a second part.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_01So that's really cool.
SPEAKER_05Because it felt like it was hinting about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I've heard I've I've seen other hints towards um a sequel on the social medias as well.
SPEAKER_05That's cool. Yeah, I would definitely want to see that too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I I really liked the first mm, this one. The first one. Well, it does very well at the box office, so I'm I'm pretty sure they're gonna find a way to make another one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah. So what did you think?
SPEAKER_01I really liked it. I enjoyed the whole thing. Uh it did make me cry. Yeah. Yes. I got a little sentimental during one of the parts. Yeah, okay. The beginning was really sad.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_01It it really makes you like uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah. Uh it was uh it one scene was really it really had the feelings. I I don't know, w it felt so um I don't know, i it als almost uh like nauseating, like yeah. Like it was nauseous or something. And uh I yeah, i I don't know. It it was really uh yeah, you really it was strong, yeah, it was powerful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I really liked it and enjoyed it a lot. And then I went to work after.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01So you know, pros and cons.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, then that was that was the highlight for this week, I think.
SPEAKER_05I think so too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and uh today is May 1st. It's May now. Maybe somehow it turned into May.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it sure is May out here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And it is Friday.
SPEAKER_05What?
SPEAKER_01It is Friday.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Oh. I thought you said, Man, is it Friday?
SPEAKER_01That's it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we watch movies.
SPEAKER_05We did.
Rocky IV Review And 80s Vibes
SPEAKER_01Would you like to move beyond?
SPEAKER_05Let's move beyond.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so today we watched Rocky Four and that other movie that we watched.
SPEAKER_05Just go with it.
SPEAKER_01Just go with it. Right. But we started with Rocky Four.
SPEAKER_05We did.
SPEAKER_01Because my oldest was with us, and I've been trying to convince him for like many weeks now to watch Rocky with me, and he's been like, no. Um, but today I got him to watch with us.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh so we watched that first. Yeah. And Rocky IV is a movie with Stallone. And Dolph Lungren is in this movie.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And basically what happens is Stallone wants revenge because Dolph Lungren killed his friend. Yeah. And that's what happened. Yeah. Uh what do you think about this movie? I think I know your thoughts, but go ahead and tell the other people.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well, I guess you can tell.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to tell your thoughts. You tell your thoughts.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I think this is the best Rocky movie ever so far. Uh and um yeah, I I really like the uh, you know, I mean, sure, it's a basic story, and uh, you know, uh someone gets killed and they're gonna get revenge and everything. But I really like the music, uh, the 80s vibe, the the robot. There is a robot. Yeah. And uh yeah, I I I don't know. I I just really like this one. Um it's uh it's the most 80s, and I really like that. What do you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_01I also enjoyed the movie. It was Rocky.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh he fought Dolph Longren.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, who's a Russian in this one.
SPEAKER_01Who is Russian, apparently.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01On steroids. But he's not supposed to be on steroids.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_01But he is anyway, because they don't care.
SPEAKER_06Exactly.
SPEAKER_01And yeah, there is a robot.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I did enjoy the movie.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I really like when the training montage shows how Rocky is doing everything in like the nature and uh Yeah, the natural way. Yeah, natural, and uh Dolph is like doing it more Mechanical, yeah, engineered.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I really like that one. Uh you know, the contrast between them. And it it's Dolph Lundgren's first big role, too. Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he did look really young. Yeah. So yeah. Good, good, good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anything else?
SPEAKER_05No.
Just Go With It Rom Com Talk
SPEAKER_01Alright, you wanna continue with the next movie?
SPEAKER_05Okay, just go with it. This movie uh is about Adam Sandler. Uh he's um playing a plastic surgeon, and uh he picks up girls with this uh ring, like a uh wedding ring that he never used because he got like left at the altar and everything. He meets a girl, he needs his assistant to play his wife so they can break up and get a divorce and everything, and it spirals from there. And uh the assistant is played by Jennifer Aniston, and it's like they have to do this improv the entire time with her kids also. So uh yeah, and then and they go to Hawaii. That's that's about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's very similar to uh that other movie, the Africa one. Blended, blended, right?
SPEAKER_05But this one was first, so okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So blended was like this movie. Yeah. Wait, what? This movie was first. Yeah. Okay, okay, yeah. Alright, alright.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, um, so what did you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_01I like this movie a lot.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It is a rom-com, which we're supposed to be watching apparently for some reason. Uh I was told that we needed to watch more rom-coms.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01Well, here you go. Yeah. This is it.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_01And it was really good. It was really funny. And I really like Jennifer Aniston.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you do.
SPEAKER_01She is so cool. I don't uh she she just seems like so chill. I don't know.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I like her a lot. Okay. And was it Nicole Kidman?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was. As well. Yeah. That one, when I saw this mm f in the first time, I'm like, they got Nicole Kidman?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like, what?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but okay. She she feels like she's on another level to like uh most of the other actors.
SPEAKER_01But she's the perfect actress for that role. Yeah. She played that character so well.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but it's like she's uh probably Oscar nominated, maybe even one. I don't know. Yeah. It just feels like she wouldn't stoop down to that level to an Adam Sandler movie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, it worked out very nicely.
SPEAKER_05Respect.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_05I also like the reference to Rocky Four.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, with Dolph Lungren.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was on purpose. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05Feel good about that one.
SPEAKER_01Good.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Uh is it do you have more to say about this movie?
SPEAKER_01I don't think so.
SPEAKER_05No. Do you? No, I don't think so either. Do you?
SPEAKER_01Someone is knocking on the pipes or something.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They might have something to say.
SPEAKER_05You can even see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Alright, then let's take a break. Okay. We'll be right back.
Back From Break And Hot Takes
SPEAKER_05Yes. And we're back.
SPEAKER_01Hello. Hello? Hello. Okay. Well, this is the second app.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, welcome back.
SPEAKER_01And welcome back. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So.
SPEAKER_05This is us being very prepared for what we're gonna do right now.
SPEAKER_01Always very prepared. Yeah. I know exactly what we're gonna do right now. Um so Yeah. Yeah. So far it's going well. Gosh, I was I feel like I was gonna say something and it just it went blank. I don't know what I was gonna say. But we don't really know what to talk about during this half.
SPEAKER_05No, we we don't have any ideas at all.
SPEAKER_01No. But let's see what open eyes has to say. Yeah. Open eyes is going to decide what we're gonna talk about today.
SPEAKER_05Open eyes is our friend.
SPEAKER_01Right. Okay. So I have a list of course.
SPEAKER_05Of things to do or what?
SPEAKER_01Um well, some things to discuss. To talk about. Uh some topics. Okay.
SPEAKER_05I'm so this is a disgusting. No, this is so disgusting. Disgusting episode.
SPEAKER_01This is a disgusting episode. Yeah, I think. Ooh, I've got quite the crack in my phone case. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05You want to discuss it?
SPEAKER_01Yes, please.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Nasty cut. Crack.
SPEAKER_01Disgusting. Okay, so here's some hot takes. You know what that is? Yeah. A hot take?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's when you take something that's on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like uh, you know, something off the stove.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like a frying pan.
SPEAKER_01Right. It's um I've done that. We're not supposed to do that.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_01It's uh opinions, I think.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like uh Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_01I think controversial Yeah, controversial thing. Well, let's see what happens. I don't know. So my first one I'm gonna tell you, and then we're gonna discuss it. Okay. Okay. I want your opinion, and then I will tell you mine. Yes. Okay. Because I mean I was thinking at first, like, let's make this a Michael Jackson episode because it's so trendy right now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we saw Michael.
SPEAKER_01But um, well, that's controversial enough as it is.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_01We don't need to add to that fire. Okay, so number one is motivation is useless without structure. People worship motivation, but it disappears the second things get uncomfortable. And systems win every time.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01So do you think that motivation can exist without structure? Uh let's go off of your uh life experience. Yeah. Have you felt like you could be motivated without setting up like rules for yourself?
SPEAKER_05I don't know, maybe not actually. Because I it's the rules that they keep you in line. Yeah. When you have something to follow, then you be motivated.
SPEAKER_01Right. It keeps you from being bad.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Whatever you think. Right. Number two. Most people don't have a discipline problem, they have a planning problem. Because if your plan is vague, you're gonna fail, pretty much.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01If you say I'm gonna eat better or work out more, that's not a plan.
SPEAKER_05No. No, I guess not.
SPEAKER_01So you need a clear goal. Okay. So instead of I'm gonna lose weight, you need to say, I want to go down five kilos.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I feel like you need a specific number.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. Uh you should have something to like strive for or like a a specific goal. A specific goal, and when you reach it, you move the goal. Yeah. So you can get further.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I believe. I believe that's true.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Number three. Busy people are often just disorganized people with better PR. Okay.
SPEAKER_05You're a busy person.
SPEAKER_01I am. Being overwhelmed isn't a flex. It usually means you're not prioritizing properly. Um. Right. So if you just say I'm busy all the time, this is saying that if you feel that way, then you're just disorganized.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01As a busy person, I I don't know. I don't know. Because I mean I can be busy and still be organized with my busy things. Yeah. The things that keep me busy.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, it depends on how I mean if you have a lot of things to be busy with, then uh it's not about organization.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you can be busy and organized. You just have to make sure that you write down all the things when they come up. Okay. You know? Like, oh, my neighbor wants to uh go uh we want to go grill next weekend. You have to write that down so that you can put it in your schedule later.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or oh my daughter wants to do this. Or she needs something that's actually necessary, not just makeup or whatever.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh but I think that's the the strongest point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If you're a busy person, you need to be writing your busy things down.
SPEAKER_05Otherwise you forget. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it's so easy to forget when you have a lot going on.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's uh easy to forget even if you don't have a lot going on.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05For me. For my experience.
SPEAKER_01Right. Number four. You don't need more information, you need fewer options. Overconsumption is just procrastination in disguise.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01Hmm. Okay. So you don't need more information. You need fewer options. I mean, nobody likes too many options. I don't like too many options.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_01But what are my options?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01And what is the information I'm getting? Overconsumption on podcast, TikTok, and other advice. It's just procrastination in disguise.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh sure. I mean a hot take. I guess we're gonna go with it because oh.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And sometimes you just have to say that to people. They just throw facts or whatever opinions at you and you just have to say, okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, if you say so.
SPEAKER_01I'm taking this in.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna store it for another time.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Do do you often if someone has something to say and you disagree, do would you uh would you say anything or would you just say okay?
SPEAKER_01Or I feel like we both do this to each other.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay. Um But I mean we know each other well. Yes.
SPEAKER_01So we know uh if it's like another person who Yeah, because I mean with you, if you say something and I disagree, I'm not gonna fight you. I'm just gonna be like, okay, you can think that. Yeah. It doesn't it doesn't I get no reward by arguing over stupid things. No. I don't have the energy. If it's another person and they say just say something stupid like um their opinion.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Stupid.
SPEAKER_01Something stupid like their opinion.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, um, oh, I think mashed potatoes are super disgusting. I hate them, they're not good for you and everything.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, okay, I do like mashed potatoes. I know they're probably not good for you. Fight me. Fight me. You know what? That's the straw. That's the last line. You know what? You crossed every boundary right now. We're done. I'm putting them up. Yeah. I'm putting my boxing gloves on and we're you're going down right now. And this is what I do on a daily basis, because I just start a fight with everyone I see who talks to me. Yeah. Everyone I who stops me in the store. It's like, you know what, you want to start something.
SPEAKER_05And you always have your boxing gloves with these.
SPEAKER_01I have like inflatable boxing gloves, so they can they fit perfectly in my pockets. Very convenient. Um now I have to think. Okay, if someone gives me their opinion, do I fight back? Do I bother? I'm I'm just gonna say no. Yeah. I I think I think after hanging out with you so long, yeah. When you just say, okay. Yeah, I think that's rubbed off on me too. Like, you know what? Okay. You're free to think that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't I don't really care that much. No. You think what you want to think and uh you know what? Yeah, have fun with that. That's why you should always let other people speak before you so I can uh adjust my point of view or temporary point of view.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Ugh. Okay. Sure. We'll say that. I don't know where that came from, but sure. Number five. Treat yourself. Culture is why people stay stuck. Constant rewards without earned effort trains you to quit the second things get hard. Okay. Okay. Can I say? Okay. Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna go ahead and start.
SPEAKER_05I'm just gonna say okay after Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_01All right, then we can move on. You already agree with it, whatever I was gonna say.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I don't care what you're gonna say.
SPEAKER_01Okay, number six. Maybe the other people care about what I have to do. Okay, okay, okay. For their sake, our third wheel here, who is listening and totally uh eavesdropping on our conversation.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. Creepy.
SPEAKER_01For all the people listening to my conversation right now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, for all the creeps.
SPEAKER_01All the creeps out there. You want my opinion? Okay, so treat yourself has to be taken with a pinch of salt, I think.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because um I think you need to be really controlled to make sure that you don't spiral out of control. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like you we did have like big snacks for movie nights every week. Yeah before. Before. No, now. No, no, no, no, no. But before we had very big snacks. And it was it it felt like every week it was like, oh, treat yourself.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then and then we'd feel feel terrible. But then like spiral out of control after that. Like, oh well, I already ate all of this, so I might as well just keep going because it's not gonna get better.
SPEAKER_05No, so make it worse.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05Getting better, make it worse.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And then I mean it's not just food, but it can be for shopping as well. If you see something you like at the store, you're like, oh well, you know, I'm gonna treat myself to this thing. And then you go to the next store. I'm thinking like going to the mall. It's like, oh, I deserve this. I'm gonna get this. It was really expensive. It was probably a bit too pricey for me, but I deserve this. And then you go to the next store and be like, you know what? I like that thing too. I deserve this. I I've been good. Yeah, I I earned good money this month.
SPEAKER_05And it's just a one-time thing.
SPEAKER_01It's just once.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then the next one, it's just one thing for me. Yeah. And I'm only getting I'm only gonna get one thing for me. Yeah. And then you've been to like 10 stores and you've got ten things that you totally deserve.
SPEAKER_05It's just one day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, it's just one day of shopping. I mean, I'll I'll do better next next tomorrow when I have no money. I mean, you get a lot more disciplined when you have no money.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. The lack of money disciplines here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's good. So I think uh to sum that one up is to uh uh spend all of your money. Yeah, and then you won't have money to spend later to make bad decisions with.
SPEAKER_05We're solved your lives.
SPEAKER_01You're welcome.
SPEAKER_05Creeps.
Treat Yourself And Content Consumption
SPEAKER_01Eavesdroppers. Number six. Most hobbies today are just consumption, not creation. So if scrolling and watching TV and stuff that's a hobby. That if that's your hobby, it's not productive. It's not productive.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01You're not doing anything. It's just consumption, not creation. So what are you supposed to create while you're consuming? I'm really confused. I'm sorry. I don't know what I'm reading.
SPEAKER_05I guess I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It says scrolling, watching, and researching. It feels productive, but it produces nothing. But I think that's the main hobby nowadays is consuming content.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I mean, I can't say anything against it because I've That would make you a hypocrite. Yeah. Yeah, because I mean consuming content, that's what I always been doing, even before the internet thing. Cause I've been watching movies. That's my life, and that's content.
SPEAKER_00That's big content.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, long content.
SPEAKER_00Long content. Long content.
SPEAKER_05Long content.
SPEAKER_00Long contum.
unknownHight.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, okay. So So that hot take was basically that everyone's hobby is consuming things.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And not creating anything. Uh which I'm gonna say half. Half and half. Yeah. Because I do agree that most people enjoy consuming content.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But some people are still creating like arts, crafts, and uh sewing and stuff.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I mean, in a way, um uh I create things too.
SPEAKER_01Content.
SPEAKER_05Content. Content and you know, watching content uh inspires you to create other things, maybe. So in a way, maybe I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think that my hobby is to consume all of these things and say it's research and inspiration for things that I will definitely do later, but I never do it.
SPEAKER_06No, okay.
SPEAKER_01So that is oh another one of my hobbies is shopping online and just like throwing a whole bunch of things in my cart and then closing the tab.
SPEAKER_05Why would you do that?
SPEAKER_01I just wanted to see how much it would cost. I wasn't actually gonna buy anything.
SPEAKER_05I I feel like that would be so mean to yourself. Stop being so mean to yourself.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, the the idea of possibly buying the things, it felt good. Okay, yeah. And then I came to realization that you don't have any money. Exactly. I have no money to spend anymore.
SPEAKER_05No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I just close the door one day. Because of the one day I went into actual stores and spent way too much money. Yeah. Um, right.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
Environment Honesty And Exercise Check In
SPEAKER_01All right. Number seven. If your environment sucks, your willpower doesn't matter. Huh? You can't outdiscipline a bad setup. Fix your surroundings or stay stuck. Clean your house, people.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I feel like clean your environment.
SPEAKER_05I feel like that's uh the opposite to uh opposite to Rocky though. Because he he started like very low, yeah, in a bad neighborhood and everything, and worked his way up from that. And I feel like a lot of people may might have done that.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Maybe.
SPEAKER_05Maybe not always, but not all people do that. There's probably more failures than it's like.
SPEAKER_01But I think I think I think that's that's basically what this is saying, though. Okay. Because Rocky didn't fully enjoy the life he was living. So he worked hard to get out of it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right? So if you don't like your living situation right now, you you can only get out of it with hard work.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay. But he could also have stayed there even when he was rich.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sure. Then he'd have more money left over.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. So maybe.
SPEAKER_01But he really just wanted the first house he saw.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, maybe that would have been wise though.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. Anyway, let's let's keep going.
SPEAKER_05Okay, clean your house.
SPEAKER_01Clean your house, people.
SPEAKER_05Creeps.
SPEAKER_01Nobody likes dirty house, and it it's really unmotivating when you have a messy house. Yeah. When you have a messy environment. And then and then you get overwhelmed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because it's just there's so much to do. And I don't know where to start. So I'm just gonna sit and not do anything.
SPEAKER_05No, exactly. And just you know, it feels like you're kind of building the the dirt more. It's gonna be even dirtier if you're gonna be. Dirt castles.
SPEAKER_01Dirt castles. This is my dirt castle.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Number eight.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01People don't actually want honesty, they want validation. People ask for feedback, then get defensive when it's real.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I feel like uh a lot of people are talking about how they want people to be honest with them.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05And uh when they are, it's not the purpose.
SPEAKER_01It's not good.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I usually will ask someone, yeah, do I look okay? Like, is this appropriate to go outside into public?
SPEAKER_05Most people would probably say yes even if they didn't think so.
SPEAKER_01And some people just say, yeah, sure, and don't even give an opinion.
SPEAKER_05But uh I just want people, you know, to like me and tell me that I'm doing well. Okay.
SPEAKER_01You look fine.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, thank you.
SPEAKER_01You're welcome.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and you actually mean it.
SPEAKER_01I do.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, of course. Good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's what I want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And uh that they mean it.
SPEAKER_01I mean it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, good.
SPEAKER_01I'm getting defensive here. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05Hmm. How the tables have turned.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I I trust my daughter to uh be honest with me. Because I most mornings I will go into her room and be like, do I look okay? Like, does this outfit work? Like, can I and then you know, I was asking about my my shirt. Should I tuck it in? Should I have it out? Like, how do I do this without looking like a mess? And you don't know ever. But my daughter will answer me. Yeah. Honestly.
SPEAKER_05Here's my from my perspective. I don't trust my judgment.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what's good and not good.
SPEAKER_01Is it because you're colorblind?
SPEAKER_05It's because um I don't I don't know what's uh what's uh how things are supposed to be.
SPEAKER_01I remember what I was gonna say. Okay. I'm sorry, I interrupted you, but I remembered.
SPEAKER_05Because you don't like me?
SPEAKER_01Because I don't care about what you're saying.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01I have to be honest.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or do you want validation? Yeah, sure. Keep talking.
SPEAKER_05I I want you to be honest and like me. Both. All of them. That's all of the two.
SPEAKER_01All of the two?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot you are asking of me. Yeah. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_05Okay. You you decide.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Speaking of honesty and motivation and environment and hobbies and everything that we've been talking about.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01Last week, I should probably take this later, but I'm gonna bring it up before I forget about it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Last week I challenged you to do exercises, yeah. Lazy exercises, at least once per day for a week.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01How has it gone?
SPEAKER_05It's gone fairly well. Okay.
SPEAKER_01How many days did you skip and or forget?
SPEAKER_05I forgot yesterday. Yeah, t uh two days. Two days. But I made up for it the day after and made two sets. Okay. Whips. Sets. Whips? Rips.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Rips. Rips. Rips. No, uh We also went for a really long walk today.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I guess that's okay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
Starting Over Identity And Consistency
SPEAKER_01That's your that's your resting day. Is your active resting day. Okay. So you did your walk. Your yeah. For your rocky rocky walk. Rocky walkie. Um. Okay, so that was that update. Okay. I'm gonna continue. After the the words from our sponsors, the challenge. Yeah. Number nine. We're almost done anyway. Starting over is a skill, and most people are terrible at it. Yes. Okay. One bad day turns into a bad week because people don't know how to reset quickly. And this is what I have been dealing with for uh a few months now.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01I do the the spiraling. It's like one day goes bad, and then the rest of the week goes bad.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or worse. And then I keep trying to like when I realize like this is not good. No. Then I have to restart.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then it only lasts like being good only lasts like a week or two. Yeah. Mostly a week. And it's weekends that destroys me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I I'm thinking about when we before when we l lost weight.
SPEAKER_01We lost a lot of weight.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we did well.
SPEAKER_01We did really good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And now I can't lose weight anymore. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's really difficult.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It's uh I'm like, what did we do?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like uh Yeah, I'm trying to like remember what exactly did we do.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I know that my mindset was not great.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_01And I don't really want to go back to that. I mean, I'd like to have self-control and I'd like to have discipline, but I don't want it to go so far as to like it's ruining my life.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_01You know? And like taking over everything.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so taking a different approach now with losing weight is take it one day at a time and don't panic.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_01And just try to be as good as possible. And if you make like one mistake, like, oh, I had one ice cream or something, it's not a big deal. It was one ice cream. You might go up a bit, but it'll go away. It's just water.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So then you just like continue your day like you usually would. You know? So pretty much or like almost the same kind of point of view, but like a lot more relaxed.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So it is gonna take longer, but it's still the same.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Also, I'm not like super tracking my calories or macros anymore.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_01Which is usually what when I do the best.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01But it's also a lot of like obsessing over numbers. And when I realize that I'm obsessing over numbers, then I get like kind of annoyed, and my brain goes into rebellion rebellious mode. Rebellion mode. Whatever. And it's like, no, I don't want to anymore. Like I don't I don't care.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_01And so I I stop tracking. And so I I don't track now.
SPEAKER_06No, okay.
SPEAKER_01Because that's also a cycle I go through.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I feel but we're gonna start the gym.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna right after this recording, we're going to buy gym cards together.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm also gonna call my oldest. But anyway, um together. Together. Because I can't do that by myself. He's only my child.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I don't want to talk to him.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so starting over is a skill. How do you feel you are at starting over? What are your cycles like?
SPEAKER_05I mean, I'm terrible at it.
SPEAKER_01Your menstrual cycle.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah. Is what I'm talking about. Those are the worst.
SPEAKER_01They're the worst.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, sorry. What were you saying?
SPEAKER_05I'm terrible at starting over.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05And that uh I mean, that's what uh we were talking about.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05That's the first thing that pops in my head, like the struggle with weight.
SPEAKER_01Right. Okay. Then let's go to the last one.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_01Number 10. Consistency is more about identity than effort. If you see yourself as someone who struggles, you'll keep proving it true. So how you identify yourself is how you're gonna continue living your life. You know what I mean? So, like if you keep saying, Oh well, I'm just a fat guy, yeah, then you're gonna continue living your life as a fat guy.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01You identify yourself as a fit guy. A fit guy. So then you're going to be a fit guy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um if you say it's like it's all about how you see yourself. Cause like, and it doesn't even have to be true. But if you think of yourself like this, like I'm a funny person, I like to make people laugh, then you're probably gonna turn into a funny person. Okay, yeah. With some effort. Yeah. Given it's you know. And then yeah, you just you have to identify yourself as the person you want to be. Yeah. And then if you convince yourself you're that person, then you can become that person. Like I am uh I am a person who likes to work out and go to the gym.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah. I'm buff. Oh yeah. So yeah, and also a funny person.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm also a funny person. I'm gonna person. I'm gonna go telling jokes at funerals and oh okay.
SPEAKER_01At funerals. Why funerals?
SPEAKER_05Because uh people are so sad? Yeah, they're they're not laughing when they're at a funeral. So I I wanna change that trend, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, sometimes it works. Yeah. Because I mean I have I I have done that. Made jokes? I have made jokes at funerals uh in the worst ways.
SPEAKER_05How did it go for you?
SPEAKER_01Uh well, some people actually did laugh and some people like smack me in the arm. Like, that's terrible. Why would you say that?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because I I'm thinking like maybe I can even do like prop comedy with the body.
SPEAKER_01No, no, the body's gone.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01There's no body. Why not? Because it's gone. Why lost it?
SPEAKER_05They lost they lost the body at all the funerals.
SPEAKER_01That's what they keep saying. They're like, I don't know. Where's the body?
SPEAKER_05Oh I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know where the body is. You lost the body? I didn't lose the body. It wasn't me.
SPEAKER_05There's usually a casket there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Have you ever tried opening it?
SPEAKER_05No, but that's what I'm gonna try to do when I'm gonna dance with the body.
SPEAKER_01It's locked.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_01You can't do that.
SPEAKER_05Then I'm gonna knock.
SPEAKER_01Hello.
SPEAKER_05Hello.
SPEAKER_01Is anyone in there?
SPEAKER_05And then I can uh do my uh ventrilo bit.
SPEAKER_01Ventrilo bit? Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Ventriloquist.
SPEAKER_01Ventrilo bit.
SPEAKER_05Ventrilo. What is it called? Ventriloquists.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Ventriloquis bit. Quisbit.
SPEAKER_05Quisbit. Quisbit. Fitbit.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Anyway. How are you feeling about this?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Are you out of sips?
SPEAKER_05Not yet. Are we gonna talk some more?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm done.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to talk anymore. I don't want to talk about things we've gone through. Though it's hurting me. Now it's history. I play it all my car. And that's what you've done too. No.
SPEAKER_05You you don't know you don't know the lyrics to say.
SPEAKER_01No more ice to play. The winner's ice.
SPEAKER_05Okay, good.
SPEAKER_01You can cut back.
SPEAKER_05No, no. No, it's a short episode, so we're not even that of the episode.
SPEAKER_01But you hate musical podcast episodes.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, we're gonna do that one.
What Is Ruining Your Life
SPEAKER_01You hate them. You hate when I say no. Okay, so as we reach the end of this episode, please tell me what is ruining your life.
SPEAKER_05Uh right.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Okay. What about me? What about you? Is it me?
SPEAKER_05That's ruining my life.
SPEAKER_01It's the fact that I'm not being honest, or is it because I'm too honest? Both. Okay.
SPEAKER_05I want both, but both hurts my feelings.
SPEAKER_01Both of those hurts my feelings. Okay. Okay, no. What is your actual answer then?
SPEAKER_05My actual answer is right now it feels like it's too warm outside.
SPEAKER_01It's too warm.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It is really warm.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And uh I my stomach doesn't like it.
SPEAKER_01Oh no. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I I don't really like it. Uh I'm not I'm more of a cold guy. I like the when it's cold. Yeah. Colder. But yeah, summer is almost here, I guess. Uh yeah, so that's my answer right now.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_05How about you? What's ruining your life?
SPEAKER_01Why you're yelling at me. You're yelling at me.
SPEAKER_05What?
SPEAKER_01What? What is ruining my life? You know what? I feel like things are going pretty good. I mean, I don't know.
SPEAKER_05You you really you have to complain about something.
SPEAKER_01I know. I've gotta complain about something.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What is there to complain about? Let's see. Yeah, I have this blister on my thumb. Also, oh, I I went to the eye exam and I tried being as honest as I possibly could. Oh yeah. And I've ordered myself new glasses. And what's ruining my life is I'm not sure I really a hundred percent liked my frames options. Okay. So what's ruining my life is the fear of like not a hundred percent liking the frames that I picked out.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01And that I won't I'm I'm definitely gonna look different because they're not the same as what I have now. And these are like the style that I've been going for for a while now.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so it's gonna be different, it's gonna be weird, and change is scary. Scary. It's not always fun.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, but then you get used to it. Glasses. Are ruining my life right now.
SPEAKER_05Okay. But then you we're gonna get used to it. I really hope so. This is Lauren now.
SPEAKER_01This is Lauren now, and then in a couple of weeks we'll have a different Lauren.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then we're gonna say this is Lauren now.
SPEAKER_01Yep. This is Lauren now.
SPEAKER_05This is not the old Lauren. This is the new Lauren.
SPEAKER_01Apparently my last exam was 2021. Huh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I was told that you're supposed to get a new eye exam every two or three years. Yeah. I w that was confirmed when I went.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because my last exam was 2019.
SPEAKER_01And you really need to get a new one.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because it says on the thing that uh 2021 I should go.
SPEAKER_01We should have gone together.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But um we're gonna fix your eyes next. You're next. Okay. When I get my glasses, you're next.
SPEAKER_05When you can see me.
SPEAKER_01Right. We're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Something's not okay here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so anyway, are you all out of sips?
SPEAKER_05Yes, I am. I'm all out of sips and we're all out of episode.
SPEAKER_01I'm all out of episode. Me. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_01Then uh let's wrap this up.
SPEAKER_05Yep. We can do that.
SPEAKER_01That wasn't a question. No. Why are you yelling at me?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
