Cold Open And Mic Check

SPEAKER_05

I'm good at this breaking fast next.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, we're recording. Sorry. Hello. Hello. Should we start this?

SPEAKER_01

We can start this.

Weather Updates And Life Highlights

SPEAKER_05

Start it. Okay. Okay. Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghostie. My name is Matthias.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm Lauren.

SPEAKER_05

We're gonna be your besties for an hour or so.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah? Yeah. Okay. That's it. Okay. That's it. Okay. Matias. Yeah. How are you doing?

SPEAKER_05

I'm doing well.

SPEAKER_01

Good.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah. Uh how are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

I'm pretty good.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. Do you like the nice weather outside?

SPEAKER_01

It is so warm.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's it's summer today. It is definitely summer weather. I'm in my shorts and tank top. Yeah. And I wore my flippy floppies today. Which means it must be summer.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So that's pretty exciting for me.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yes, so.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Well, what if do you have any highlights from the past week?

SPEAKER_05

Uh I don't know. Um, I um highlights. Yeah, I started working again for real this time. Not just once a week or so. Now it's actually uh, you know, the entire weeks, every day kind of thing. So yeah, that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_06

Good, good.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. Yeah, oh uh yesterday it was the bonfire thing that we have in Sweden.

SPEAKER_01

It was the the day the the day for the evil spirits.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, scaring them away that day.

SPEAKER_05

That day was yesterday. So now they're gone. The evil spirits are gone.

SPEAKER_01

Good. The evil winter spirits.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

And now it's summer.

SPEAKER_05

Now it's summer.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Uh how about you?

Gymnastics Weekend And MJ Movie

SPEAKER_01

I do have highlights. Last weekend my daughter had gymnastics competition and it was fun to watch. And then we went to the mall and we hung out there.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Afterwards.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and also we watched a movie at cinema.

SPEAKER_01

We did on Monday.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Tuesday.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. One day.

SPEAKER_01

One of those days we watched a movie at the cinemas. We watched the Michael Jackson movie. Um, what did you think about it? Without giving too much away.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, yeah, I really I I really liked it. I felt like time just flew by, and that's a good good sign.

SPEAKER_01

It was two hours.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it did not feel like two hours to me.

SPEAKER_01

I did feel like the ending might have been a little abrupt.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. That was one of the cons. Yeah. Hopefully we'll get a sequel or like a continuation.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that would be really cool. I don't think there's been a biopic with a second part.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

So that's really cool.

SPEAKER_05

Because it felt like it was hinting about that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I've heard I've I've seen other hints towards um a sequel on the social medias as well.

SPEAKER_05

That's cool. Yeah, I would definitely want to see that too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I I really liked the first mm, this one. The first one. Well, it does very well at the box office, so I'm I'm pretty sure they're gonna find a way to make another one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah. So what did you think?

SPEAKER_01

I really liked it. I enjoyed the whole thing. Uh it did make me cry. Yeah. Yes. I got a little sentimental during one of the parts. Yeah, okay. The beginning was really sad.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It it really makes you like uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. Uh it was uh it one scene was really it really had the feelings. I I don't know, w it felt so um I don't know, i it als almost uh like nauseating, like yeah. Like it was nauseous or something. And uh I yeah, i I don't know. It it was really uh yeah, you really it was strong, yeah, it was powerful.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But I really liked it and enjoyed it a lot. And then I went to work after.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So you know, pros and cons.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, then that was that was the highlight for this week, I think.

SPEAKER_05

I think so too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and uh today is May 1st. It's May now. Maybe somehow it turned into May.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it sure is May out here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And it is Friday.

SPEAKER_05

What?

SPEAKER_01

It is Friday.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Oh. I thought you said, Man, is it Friday?

SPEAKER_01

That's it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And we watch movies.

SPEAKER_05

We did.

Rocky IV Review And 80s Vibes

SPEAKER_01

Would you like to move beyond?

SPEAKER_05

Let's move beyond.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so today we watched Rocky Four and that other movie that we watched.

SPEAKER_05

Just go with it.

SPEAKER_01

Just go with it. Right. But we started with Rocky Four.

SPEAKER_05

We did.

SPEAKER_01

Because my oldest was with us, and I've been trying to convince him for like many weeks now to watch Rocky with me, and he's been like, no. Um, but today I got him to watch with us.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh so we watched that first. Yeah. And Rocky IV is a movie with Stallone. And Dolph Lungren is in this movie.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And basically what happens is Stallone wants revenge because Dolph Lungren killed his friend. Yeah. And that's what happened. Yeah. Uh what do you think about this movie? I think I know your thoughts, but go ahead and tell the other people.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, well, I guess you can tell.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to tell your thoughts. You tell your thoughts.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. I think this is the best Rocky movie ever so far. Uh and um yeah, I I really like the uh, you know, I mean, sure, it's a basic story, and uh, you know, uh someone gets killed and they're gonna get revenge and everything. But I really like the music, uh, the 80s vibe, the the robot. There is a robot. Yeah. And uh yeah, I I I don't know. I I just really like this one. Um it's uh it's the most 80s, and I really like that. What do you think about this movie?

SPEAKER_01

I also enjoyed the movie. It was Rocky.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And uh he fought Dolph Longren.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, who's a Russian in this one.

SPEAKER_01

Who is Russian, apparently.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

On steroids. But he's not supposed to be on steroids.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_01

But he is anyway, because they don't care.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

And yeah, there is a robot.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I did enjoy the movie.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I really like when the training montage shows how Rocky is doing everything in like the nature and uh Yeah, the natural way. Yeah, natural, and uh Dolph is like doing it more Mechanical, yeah, engineered.

SPEAKER_04

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I really like that one. Uh you know, the contrast between them. And it it's Dolph Lundgren's first big role, too. Oh, that's cool. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he did look really young. Yeah. So yeah. Good, good, good.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Anything else?

SPEAKER_05

No.

Just Go With It Rom Com Talk

SPEAKER_01

Alright, you wanna continue with the next movie?

SPEAKER_05

Okay, just go with it. This movie uh is about Adam Sandler. Uh he's um playing a plastic surgeon, and uh he picks up girls with this uh ring, like a uh wedding ring that he never used because he got like left at the altar and everything. He meets a girl, he needs his assistant to play his wife so they can break up and get a divorce and everything, and it spirals from there. And uh the assistant is played by Jennifer Aniston, and it's like they have to do this improv the entire time with her kids also. So uh yeah, and then and they go to Hawaii. That's that's about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's very similar to uh that other movie, the Africa one. Blended, blended, right?

SPEAKER_05

But this one was first, so okay.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So blended was like this movie. Yeah. Wait, what? This movie was first. Yeah. Okay, okay, yeah. Alright, alright.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, um, so what did you think about this movie?

SPEAKER_01

I like this movie a lot.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It is a rom-com, which we're supposed to be watching apparently for some reason. Uh I was told that we needed to watch more rom-coms.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, here you go. Yeah. This is it.

SPEAKER_06

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And it was really good. It was really funny. And I really like Jennifer Aniston.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, you do.

SPEAKER_01

She is so cool. I don't uh she she just seems like so chill. I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I like her a lot. Okay. And was it Nicole Kidman?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it was. As well. Yeah. That one, when I saw this mm f in the first time, I'm like, they got Nicole Kidman?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like, what?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but okay. She she feels like she's on another level to like uh most of the other actors.

SPEAKER_01

But she's the perfect actress for that role. Yeah. She played that character so well.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but it's like she's uh probably Oscar nominated, maybe even one. I don't know. Yeah. It just feels like she wouldn't stoop down to that level to an Adam Sandler movie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, it worked out very nicely.

SPEAKER_05

Respect.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

I also like the reference to Rocky Four.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, with Dolph Lungren.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That was on purpose. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Feel good about that one.

SPEAKER_01

Good.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. Uh is it do you have more to say about this movie?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_05

No. Do you? No, I don't think so either. Do you?

SPEAKER_01

Someone is knocking on the pipes or something.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They might have something to say.

SPEAKER_05

You can even see.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Alright, then let's take a break. Okay. We'll be right back.

Back From Break And Hot Takes

SPEAKER_05

Yes. And we're back.

SPEAKER_01

Hello. Hello? Hello. Okay. Well, this is the second app.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you. Um, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, welcome back.

SPEAKER_01

And welcome back. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So.

SPEAKER_05

This is us being very prepared for what we're gonna do right now.

SPEAKER_01

Always very prepared. Yeah. I know exactly what we're gonna do right now. Um so Yeah. Yeah. So far it's going well. Gosh, I was I feel like I was gonna say something and it just it went blank. I don't know what I was gonna say. But we don't really know what to talk about during this half.

SPEAKER_05

No, we we don't have any ideas at all.

SPEAKER_01

No. But let's see what open eyes has to say. Yeah. Open eyes is going to decide what we're gonna talk about today.

SPEAKER_05

Open eyes is our friend.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Okay. So I have a list of course.

SPEAKER_05

Of things to do or what?

SPEAKER_01

Um well, some things to discuss. To talk about. Uh some topics. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

I'm so this is a disgusting. No, this is so disgusting. Disgusting episode.

SPEAKER_01

This is a disgusting episode. Yeah, I think. Ooh, I've got quite the crack in my phone case. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You want to discuss it?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, please.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Nasty cut. Crack.

SPEAKER_01

Disgusting. Okay, so here's some hot takes. You know what that is? Yeah. A hot take?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's when you take something that's on.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, like uh, you know, something off the stove.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Like a frying pan.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It's um I've done that. We're not supposed to do that.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

It's uh opinions, I think.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, like uh Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

I think controversial Yeah, controversial thing. Well, let's see what happens. I don't know. So my first one I'm gonna tell you, and then we're gonna discuss it. Okay. Okay. I want your opinion, and then I will tell you mine. Yes. Okay. Because I mean I was thinking at first, like, let's make this a Michael Jackson episode because it's so trendy right now.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we saw Michael.

SPEAKER_01

But um, well, that's controversial enough as it is.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think so.

SPEAKER_01

We don't need to add to that fire. Okay, so number one is motivation is useless without structure. People worship motivation, but it disappears the second things get uncomfortable. And systems win every time.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So do you think that motivation can exist without structure? Uh let's go off of your uh life experience. Yeah. Have you felt like you could be motivated without setting up like rules for yourself?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know, maybe not actually. Because I it's the rules that they keep you in line. Yeah. When you have something to follow, then you be motivated.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It keeps you from being bad.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Whatever you think. Right. Number two. Most people don't have a discipline problem, they have a planning problem. Because if your plan is vague, you're gonna fail, pretty much.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

If you say I'm gonna eat better or work out more, that's not a plan.

SPEAKER_05

No. No, I guess not.

SPEAKER_01

So you need a clear goal. Okay. So instead of I'm gonna lose weight, you need to say, I want to go down five kilos.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I feel like you need a specific number.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. Uh you should have something to like strive for or like a a specific goal. A specific goal, and when you reach it, you move the goal. Yeah. So you can get further.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I believe. I believe that's true.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Number three. Busy people are often just disorganized people with better PR. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

You're a busy person.

SPEAKER_01

I am. Being overwhelmed isn't a flex. It usually means you're not prioritizing properly. Um. Right. So if you just say I'm busy all the time, this is saying that if you feel that way, then you're just disorganized.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

As a busy person, I I don't know. I don't know. Because I mean I can be busy and still be organized with my busy things. Yeah. The things that keep me busy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I mean, it depends on how I mean if you have a lot of things to be busy with, then uh it's not about organization.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think you can be busy and organized. You just have to make sure that you write down all the things when they come up. Okay. You know? Like, oh, my neighbor wants to uh go uh we want to go grill next weekend. You have to write that down so that you can put it in your schedule later.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or oh my daughter wants to do this. Or she needs something that's actually necessary, not just makeup or whatever.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh but I think that's the the strongest point.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If you're a busy person, you need to be writing your busy things down.

SPEAKER_05

Otherwise you forget. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it's so easy to forget when you have a lot going on.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, it's uh easy to forget even if you don't have a lot going on.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_05

For me. For my experience.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Number four. You don't need more information, you need fewer options. Overconsumption is just procrastination in disguise.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Hmm. Okay. So you don't need more information. You need fewer options. I mean, nobody likes too many options. I don't like too many options.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

But what are my options?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

And what is the information I'm getting? Overconsumption on podcast, TikTok, and other advice. It's just procrastination in disguise.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh sure. I mean a hot take. I guess we're gonna go with it because oh.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And sometimes you just have to say that to people. They just throw facts or whatever opinions at you and you just have to say, okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, if you say so.

SPEAKER_01

I'm taking this in.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm gonna store it for another time.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Do do you often if someone has something to say and you disagree, do would you uh would you say anything or would you just say okay?

SPEAKER_01

Or I feel like we both do this to each other.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, okay. Um But I mean we know each other well. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So we know uh if it's like another person who Yeah, because I mean with you, if you say something and I disagree, I'm not gonna fight you. I'm just gonna be like, okay, you can think that. Yeah. It doesn't it doesn't I get no reward by arguing over stupid things. No. I don't have the energy. If it's another person and they say just say something stupid like um their opinion.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Stupid.

SPEAKER_01

Something stupid like their opinion.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, um, oh, I think mashed potatoes are super disgusting. I hate them, they're not good for you and everything.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, okay, I do like mashed potatoes. I know they're probably not good for you. Fight me. Fight me. You know what? That's the straw. That's the last line. You know what? You crossed every boundary right now. We're done. I'm putting them up. Yeah. I'm putting my boxing gloves on and we're you're going down right now. And this is what I do on a daily basis, because I just start a fight with everyone I see who talks to me. Yeah. Everyone I who stops me in the store. It's like, you know what, you want to start something.

SPEAKER_05

And you always have your boxing gloves with these.

SPEAKER_01

I have like inflatable boxing gloves, so they can they fit perfectly in my pockets. Very convenient. Um now I have to think. Okay, if someone gives me their opinion, do I fight back? Do I bother? I'm I'm just gonna say no. Yeah. I I think I think after hanging out with you so long, yeah. When you just say, okay. Yeah, I think that's rubbed off on me too. Like, you know what? Okay. You're free to think that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't I don't really care that much. No. You think what you want to think and uh you know what? Yeah, have fun with that. That's why you should always let other people speak before you so I can uh adjust my point of view or temporary point of view.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Ugh. Okay. Sure. We'll say that. I don't know where that came from, but sure. Number five. Treat yourself. Culture is why people stay stuck. Constant rewards without earned effort trains you to quit the second things get hard. Okay. Okay. Can I say? Okay. Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna go ahead and start.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just gonna say okay after Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

All right, then we can move on. You already agree with it, whatever I was gonna say.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I don't care what you're gonna say.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, number six. Maybe the other people care about what I have to do. Okay, okay, okay. For their sake, our third wheel here, who is listening and totally uh eavesdropping on our conversation.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. Creepy.

SPEAKER_01

For all the people listening to my conversation right now.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, for all the creeps.

SPEAKER_01

All the creeps out there. You want my opinion? Okay, so treat yourself has to be taken with a pinch of salt, I think.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Because um I think you need to be really controlled to make sure that you don't spiral out of control. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like you we did have like big snacks for movie nights every week. Yeah before. Before. No, now. No, no, no, no, no. But before we had very big snacks. And it was it it felt like every week it was like, oh, treat yourself.

SPEAKER_06

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then and then we'd feel feel terrible. But then like spiral out of control after that. Like, oh well, I already ate all of this, so I might as well just keep going because it's not gonna get better.

SPEAKER_05

No, so make it worse.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_05

Getting better, make it worse.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then I mean it's not just food, but it can be for shopping as well. If you see something you like at the store, you're like, oh well, you know, I'm gonna treat myself to this thing. And then you go to the next store. I'm thinking like going to the mall. It's like, oh, I deserve this. I'm gonna get this. It was really expensive. It was probably a bit too pricey for me, but I deserve this. And then you go to the next store and be like, you know what? I like that thing too. I deserve this. I I've been good. Yeah, I I earned good money this month.

SPEAKER_05

And it's just a one-time thing.

SPEAKER_01

It's just once.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then the next one, it's just one thing for me. Yeah. And I'm only getting I'm only gonna get one thing for me. Yeah. And then you've been to like 10 stores and you've got ten things that you totally deserve.

SPEAKER_05

It's just one day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, it's just one day of shopping. I mean, I'll I'll do better next next tomorrow when I have no money. I mean, you get a lot more disciplined when you have no money.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. The lack of money disciplines here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's good. So I think uh to sum that one up is to uh uh spend all of your money. Yeah, and then you won't have money to spend later to make bad decisions with.

SPEAKER_05

We're solved your lives.

SPEAKER_01

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_05

Creeps.

Treat Yourself And Content Consumption

SPEAKER_01

Eavesdroppers. Number six. Most hobbies today are just consumption, not creation. So if scrolling and watching TV and stuff that's a hobby. That if that's your hobby, it's not productive. It's not productive.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

You're not doing anything. It's just consumption, not creation. So what are you supposed to create while you're consuming? I'm really confused. I'm sorry. I don't know what I'm reading.

SPEAKER_05

I guess I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It says scrolling, watching, and researching. It feels productive, but it produces nothing. But I think that's the main hobby nowadays is consuming content.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I mean, I can't say anything against it because I've That would make you a hypocrite. Yeah. Yeah, because I mean consuming content, that's what I always been doing, even before the internet thing. Cause I've been watching movies. That's my life, and that's content.

SPEAKER_00

That's big content.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, long content.

SPEAKER_00

Long content. Long content.

SPEAKER_05

Long content.

SPEAKER_00

Long contum.

unknown

Hight.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, okay. So So that hot take was basically that everyone's hobby is consuming things.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And not creating anything. Uh which I'm gonna say half. Half and half. Yeah. Because I do agree that most people enjoy consuming content.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But some people are still creating like arts, crafts, and uh sewing and stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I mean, in a way, um uh I create things too.

SPEAKER_01

Content.

SPEAKER_05

Content. Content and you know, watching content uh inspires you to create other things, maybe. So in a way, maybe I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think that my hobby is to consume all of these things and say it's research and inspiration for things that I will definitely do later, but I never do it.

SPEAKER_06

No, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So that is oh another one of my hobbies is shopping online and just like throwing a whole bunch of things in my cart and then closing the tab.

SPEAKER_05

Why would you do that?

SPEAKER_01

I just wanted to see how much it would cost. I wasn't actually gonna buy anything.

SPEAKER_05

I I feel like that would be so mean to yourself. Stop being so mean to yourself.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, the the idea of possibly buying the things, it felt good. Okay, yeah. And then I came to realization that you don't have any money. Exactly. I have no money to spend anymore.

SPEAKER_05

No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I just close the door one day. Because of the one day I went into actual stores and spent way too much money. Yeah. Um, right.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

Environment Honesty And Exercise Check In

SPEAKER_01

All right. Number seven. If your environment sucks, your willpower doesn't matter. Huh? You can't outdiscipline a bad setup. Fix your surroundings or stay stuck. Clean your house, people.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like clean your environment.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like that's uh the opposite to uh opposite to Rocky though. Because he he started like very low, yeah, in a bad neighborhood and everything, and worked his way up from that. And I feel like a lot of people may might have done that.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. Maybe.

SPEAKER_05

Maybe not always, but not all people do that. There's probably more failures than it's like.

SPEAKER_01

But I think I think I think that's that's basically what this is saying, though. Okay. Because Rocky didn't fully enjoy the life he was living. So he worked hard to get out of it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? So if you don't like your living situation right now, you you can only get out of it with hard work.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, okay. But he could also have stayed there even when he was rich.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, sure. Then he'd have more money left over.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. So maybe.

SPEAKER_01

But he really just wanted the first house he saw.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, maybe that would have been wise though.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. Anyway, let's let's keep going.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, clean your house.

SPEAKER_01

Clean your house, people.

SPEAKER_05

Creeps.

SPEAKER_01

Nobody likes dirty house, and it it's really unmotivating when you have a messy house. Yeah. When you have a messy environment. And then and then you get overwhelmed.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's just there's so much to do. And I don't know where to start. So I'm just gonna sit and not do anything.

SPEAKER_05

No, exactly. And just you know, it feels like you're kind of building the the dirt more. It's gonna be even dirtier if you're gonna be. Dirt castles.

SPEAKER_01

Dirt castles. This is my dirt castle.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Number eight.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

People don't actually want honesty, they want validation. People ask for feedback, then get defensive when it's real.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. I feel like uh a lot of people are talking about how they want people to be honest with them.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_05

And uh when they are, it's not the purpose.

SPEAKER_01

It's not good.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I usually will ask someone, yeah, do I look okay? Like, is this appropriate to go outside into public?

SPEAKER_05

Most people would probably say yes even if they didn't think so.

SPEAKER_01

And some people just say, yeah, sure, and don't even give an opinion.

SPEAKER_05

But uh I just want people, you know, to like me and tell me that I'm doing well. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

You look fine.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, thank you.

SPEAKER_01

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and you actually mean it.

SPEAKER_01

I do.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, of course. Good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's what I want.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And uh that they mean it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, good.

SPEAKER_01

I'm getting defensive here. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Hmm. How the tables have turned.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I I trust my daughter to uh be honest with me. Because I most mornings I will go into her room and be like, do I look okay? Like, does this outfit work? Like, can I and then you know, I was asking about my my shirt. Should I tuck it in? Should I have it out? Like, how do I do this without looking like a mess? And you don't know ever. But my daughter will answer me. Yeah. Honestly.

SPEAKER_05

Here's my from my perspective. I don't trust my judgment.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know what's good and not good.

SPEAKER_01

Is it because you're colorblind?

SPEAKER_05

It's because um I don't I don't know what's uh what's uh how things are supposed to be.

SPEAKER_01

I remember what I was gonna say. Okay. I'm sorry, I interrupted you, but I remembered.

SPEAKER_05

Because you don't like me?

SPEAKER_01

Because I don't care about what you're saying.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I have to be honest.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or do you want validation? Yeah, sure. Keep talking.

SPEAKER_05

I I want you to be honest and like me. Both. All of them. That's all of the two.

SPEAKER_01

All of the two?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's a lot you are asking of me. Yeah. I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. You you decide.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Speaking of honesty and motivation and environment and hobbies and everything that we've been talking about.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Last week, I should probably take this later, but I'm gonna bring it up before I forget about it.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Last week I challenged you to do exercises, yeah. Lazy exercises, at least once per day for a week.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How has it gone?

SPEAKER_05

It's gone fairly well. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

How many days did you skip and or forget?

SPEAKER_05

I forgot yesterday. Yeah, t uh two days. Two days. But I made up for it the day after and made two sets. Okay. Whips. Sets. Whips? Rips.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Rips. Rips. Rips. No, uh We also went for a really long walk today.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I guess that's okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

Starting Over Identity And Consistency

SPEAKER_01

That's your that's your resting day. Is your active resting day. Okay. So you did your walk. Your yeah. For your rocky rocky walk. Rocky walkie. Um. Okay, so that was that update. Okay. I'm gonna continue. After the the words from our sponsors, the challenge. Yeah. Number nine. We're almost done anyway. Starting over is a skill, and most people are terrible at it. Yes. Okay. One bad day turns into a bad week because people don't know how to reset quickly. And this is what I have been dealing with for uh a few months now.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I do the the spiraling. It's like one day goes bad, and then the rest of the week goes bad.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or worse. And then I keep trying to like when I realize like this is not good. No. Then I have to restart.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then it only lasts like being good only lasts like a week or two. Yeah. Mostly a week. And it's weekends that destroys me.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I I'm thinking about when we before when we l lost weight.

SPEAKER_01

We lost a lot of weight.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we did well.

SPEAKER_01

We did really good.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And now I can't lose weight anymore. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It's really difficult.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. It's uh I'm like, what did we do?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like uh Yeah, I'm trying to like remember what exactly did we do.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I know that my mindset was not great.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_01

And I don't really want to go back to that. I mean, I'd like to have self-control and I'd like to have discipline, but I don't want it to go so far as to like it's ruining my life.

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_01

You know? And like taking over everything.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And so taking a different approach now with losing weight is take it one day at a time and don't panic.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And just try to be as good as possible. And if you make like one mistake, like, oh, I had one ice cream or something, it's not a big deal. It was one ice cream. You might go up a bit, but it'll go away. It's just water.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So then you just like continue your day like you usually would. You know? So pretty much or like almost the same kind of point of view, but like a lot more relaxed.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So it is gonna take longer, but it's still the same.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Also, I'm not like super tracking my calories or macros anymore.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_01

Which is usually what when I do the best.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

But it's also a lot of like obsessing over numbers. And when I realize that I'm obsessing over numbers, then I get like kind of annoyed, and my brain goes into rebellion rebellious mode. Rebellion mode. Whatever. And it's like, no, I don't want to anymore. Like I don't I don't care.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_01

And so I I stop tracking. And so I I don't track now.

SPEAKER_06

No, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Because that's also a cycle I go through.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I feel but we're gonna start the gym.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna right after this recording, we're going to buy gym cards together.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm also gonna call my oldest. But anyway, um together. Together. Because I can't do that by myself. He's only my child.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I don't want to talk to him.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so starting over is a skill. How do you feel you are at starting over? What are your cycles like?

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I'm terrible at it.

SPEAKER_01

Your menstrual cycle.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. Is what I'm talking about. Those are the worst.

SPEAKER_01

They're the worst.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, sorry. What were you saying?

SPEAKER_05

I'm terrible at starting over.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And that uh I mean, that's what uh we were talking about.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_05

That's the first thing that pops in my head, like the struggle with weight.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Okay. Then let's go to the last one.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Number 10. Consistency is more about identity than effort. If you see yourself as someone who struggles, you'll keep proving it true. So how you identify yourself is how you're gonna continue living your life. You know what I mean? So, like if you keep saying, Oh well, I'm just a fat guy, yeah, then you're gonna continue living your life as a fat guy.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

You identify yourself as a fit guy. A fit guy. So then you're going to be a fit guy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um if you say it's like it's all about how you see yourself. Cause like, and it doesn't even have to be true. But if you think of yourself like this, like I'm a funny person, I like to make people laugh, then you're probably gonna turn into a funny person. Okay, yeah. With some effort. Yeah. Given it's you know. And then yeah, you just you have to identify yourself as the person you want to be. Yeah. And then if you convince yourself you're that person, then you can become that person. Like I am uh I am a person who likes to work out and go to the gym.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah. I'm buff. Oh yeah. So yeah, and also a funny person.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I'm also a funny person. I'm gonna person. I'm gonna go telling jokes at funerals and oh okay.

SPEAKER_01

At funerals. Why funerals?

SPEAKER_05

Because uh people are so sad? Yeah, they're they're not laughing when they're at a funeral. So I I wanna change that trend, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, sometimes it works. Yeah. Because I mean I have I I have done that. Made jokes? I have made jokes at funerals uh in the worst ways.

SPEAKER_05

How did it go for you?

SPEAKER_01

Uh well, some people actually did laugh and some people like smack me in the arm. Like, that's terrible. Why would you say that?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, because I I'm thinking like maybe I can even do like prop comedy with the body.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, the body's gone.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

There's no body. Why not? Because it's gone. Why lost it?

SPEAKER_05

They lost they lost the body at all the funerals.

SPEAKER_01

That's what they keep saying. They're like, I don't know. Where's the body?

SPEAKER_05

Oh I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know where the body is. You lost the body? I didn't lose the body. It wasn't me.

SPEAKER_05

There's usually a casket there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Have you ever tried opening it?

SPEAKER_05

No, but that's what I'm gonna try to do when I'm gonna dance with the body.

SPEAKER_01

It's locked.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

You can't do that.

SPEAKER_05

Then I'm gonna knock.

SPEAKER_01

Hello.

SPEAKER_05

Hello.

SPEAKER_01

Is anyone in there?

SPEAKER_05

And then I can uh do my uh ventrilo bit.

SPEAKER_01

Ventrilo bit? Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Ventriloquist.

SPEAKER_01

Ventrilo bit.

SPEAKER_05

Ventrilo. What is it called? Ventriloquists.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Ventriloquis bit. Quisbit.

SPEAKER_05

Quisbit. Quisbit. Fitbit.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Anyway. How are you feeling about this?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Are you out of sips?

SPEAKER_05

Not yet. Are we gonna talk some more?

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm done.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to talk anymore. I don't want to talk about things we've gone through. Though it's hurting me. Now it's history. I play it all my car. And that's what you've done too. No.

SPEAKER_05

You you don't know you don't know the lyrics to say.

SPEAKER_01

No more ice to play. The winner's ice.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_01

You can cut back.

SPEAKER_05

No, no. No, it's a short episode, so we're not even that of the episode.

SPEAKER_01

But you hate musical podcast episodes.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah, we're gonna do that one.

What Is Ruining Your Life

SPEAKER_01

You hate them. You hate when I say no. Okay, so as we reach the end of this episode, please tell me what is ruining your life.

SPEAKER_05

Uh right.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Okay. What about me? What about you? Is it me?

SPEAKER_05

That's ruining my life.

SPEAKER_01

It's the fact that I'm not being honest, or is it because I'm too honest? Both. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

I want both, but both hurts my feelings.

SPEAKER_01

Both of those hurts my feelings. Okay. Okay, no. What is your actual answer then?

SPEAKER_05

My actual answer is right now it feels like it's too warm outside.

SPEAKER_01

It's too warm.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It is really warm.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And uh I my stomach doesn't like it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I I don't really like it. Uh I'm not I'm more of a cold guy. I like the when it's cold. Yeah. Colder. But yeah, summer is almost here, I guess. Uh yeah, so that's my answer right now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

How about you? What's ruining your life?

SPEAKER_01

Why you're yelling at me. You're yelling at me.

SPEAKER_05

What?

SPEAKER_01

What? What is ruining my life? You know what? I feel like things are going pretty good. I mean, I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

You you really you have to complain about something.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I've gotta complain about something.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What is there to complain about? Let's see. Yeah, I have this blister on my thumb. Also, oh, I I went to the eye exam and I tried being as honest as I possibly could. Oh yeah. And I've ordered myself new glasses. And what's ruining my life is I'm not sure I really a hundred percent liked my frames options. Okay. So what's ruining my life is the fear of like not a hundred percent liking the frames that I picked out.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And that I won't I'm I'm definitely gonna look different because they're not the same as what I have now. And these are like the style that I've been going for for a while now.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And so it's gonna be different, it's gonna be weird, and change is scary. Scary. It's not always fun.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, but then you get used to it. Glasses. Are ruining my life right now.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. But then you we're gonna get used to it. I really hope so. This is Lauren now.

SPEAKER_01

This is Lauren now, and then in a couple of weeks we'll have a different Lauren.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and then we're gonna say this is Lauren now.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. This is Lauren now.

SPEAKER_05

This is not the old Lauren. This is the new Lauren.

SPEAKER_01

Apparently my last exam was 2021. Huh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I was told that you're supposed to get a new eye exam every two or three years. Yeah. I w that was confirmed when I went.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, because my last exam was 2019.

SPEAKER_01

And you really need to get a new one.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, because it says on the thing that uh 2021 I should go.

SPEAKER_01

We should have gone together.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But um we're gonna fix your eyes next. You're next. Okay. When I get my glasses, you're next.

SPEAKER_05

When you can see me.

SPEAKER_01

Right. We're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Something's not okay here.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so anyway, are you all out of sips?

SPEAKER_05

Yes, I am. I'm all out of sips and we're all out of episode.

SPEAKER_01

I'm all out of episode. Me. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Then uh let's wrap this up.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. We can do that.

SPEAKER_01

That wasn't a question. No. Why are you yelling at me?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

Wrap Up And Where To Follow

unknown
