We start with tired, unfiltered life updates, then suddenly we’re pitching the kind of crossover movie that could only exist in a half-awake brain. Think Rocky in his 90s, a zombie Apollo Creed, and Rambo showing up like the wildest studio note of all time. It’s ridiculous, but it also gets at something real about why we love franchise crossovers in the first place.
From there, we zoom out into what makes crossovers actually work. We talk nostalgic Cartoon Network style mashups, why modern shared universes (yes, Marvel) can feel “built” instead of spontaneous, and why a left-field idea like Django Unchained meeting Zorro sounds so tempting. If you’re into movies, storytelling, sequels, and the mechanics of fan service versus surprise, there’s a lot here to chew on even when we’re joking around.
Then reality kicks in: we debate our movie watchlist order, toss around rewatch fixes, and talk logistics like traveling to the United States and possibly taking a break. We even end on an odd little science corner about yawning: why it’s contagious, why it might relate to brain state, and why some yawns feel unsatisfying or “stuck.” Subscribe for more movie talk and messy curiosity, and if you listen, share your dream crossover and leave us a review so we can find more people who love this kind of weird conversation.

Sleepy Small Talk And Alarms
SPEAKER_00But I'm still drinking water.
SPEAKER_02Yay.
SPEAKER_00Yep. What? What? Nothing. You have nothing to say today.
SPEAKER_02No. Do you have anything to say today?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I have nothing. Interesting. I have I have nothing to say. I have nothing to talk about. I just I'm just existing. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02That's about m my how I am too.
SPEAKER_00I woke up this morning.
SPEAKER_02That's good. That's a good start.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. And um, well, I thought that I had turned off my alarm. Okay. But I guess I didn't. Because it still went off this morning. And I couldn't really stay asleep since like four this morning because my watch was saying, Hey, I'm dying. And so you're dying. No, my watch was dying.
SPEAKER_03You're okay.
SPEAKER_00And so I I didn't want to oversleep and like you show up at the door while I'm still in bed. So I kept waking up and checking the time. Oh, yeah. But I I I don't know. Oh no.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Hey Doah! Hey Doha. It's about time. It's only 1256. Yeah. Now she's leaving.
SPEAKER_02So you're kind of tired today?
SPEAKER_00I'm a bit tired. And I'm not gonna sleep in tomorrow either. So that that sucks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00And that's what's ruining my life. Yeah. Is that um I can't sleep in. And it makes me sad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_02I guess I have the same problem. But uh yeah, I I'm uh also tired, but I didn't work late or anything, but you know, tired uh Did I work last night?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02No, you didn't.
SPEAKER_00I was still home. Oh yeah. I was home last night. I had a meeting.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, that's what it was.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I had teams.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, issue.
SPEAKER_00Okay, hold
Pitching A Rocky Rambo Sequel
SPEAKER_00on.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Here's my pitch. Okay. Rocky, he's in his 90s, right? And he's like, I I still have it in me. I'm gonna do it one more time. One more fight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Against Apollo Creed, the zombie.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00And then and then um Rocky, he's like in the match and he's all beaten up by the zombie because zombies are stronger. And um he's like he's he's dying out there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then the door opens, you know, the entrance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's Rambo, and he comes in and he he's also in his 90s, he's like a hundred now, and he just shoots everyone. Okay. Rocky's dead, and so is Apollo Creed. Oh, yeah. Again. Yeah, okay. The sequel. His death, the sequel.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah. I I thought uh I mean lab experiments. Right.
SPEAKER_00It's like I messed up on the first kit, I'm gonna try again. And then he dies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So it doesn't really go well for the second kid either.
SPEAKER_02No. But the baby is left alone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, to make Rambo the second one. Yeah. Kind of like a jungle book kind of mogly. Then like Rambo.
SPEAKER_0230 years later when uh Rambo is like 130, uh, the baby uh uh is now grown up and wants to take revenge against the kills Rambo 30 year old.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. He's like, I am the real Rambo. Yeah. I think that's how it's gonna go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Sounds possible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, when I look at the text on the screen for the time and everything, it's just a blob.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I can kinda make out what it says, but I mean if I really try, but if I'm just looking over, it's like, yeah, just lines. It's lines. Yeah. I don't know. That's all I had for today.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Cool. We should Oh no. We should pitch more movies.
SPEAKER_00I need I need a refill. I'm not ready. I guess I have to wake up for this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Hey, that's a good idea to pitch like uh crossover
Why Crossovers Feel So Fun
SPEAKER_02movies.
SPEAKER_00You know, those are like my favorite things. Remember, I don't know if you ever saw these, but there was a time in the Cartoon Network world where they um intertwined different shows. And it was really cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And there's other shows that have done that too. I think Nickelodeon had a group of shows that did the same thing, and I always thought it was so cool. Like, do that again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I want more of that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I know also it's mostly like uh TV shows that do that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but now we need movies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Something other than like comedy movies that heavily reference things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like a series.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's kind of like uh Space Jam that intertwine like Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes. That was really cool.
SPEAKER_02I mean, if you think about it, uh the uh Marvel movies are like that, they cross over, but they kind of built like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're in the same universe. So is it really intertwining or is it just like here's this guy and here's this guy, and they're in the same world, so they're going to cross paths.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and uh it's it's so planned. Yeah. You should go with uh not planned, you know, uh just like characters.
SPEAKER_00Random, hey superhero, let's, you know, join together and beat up this bad guy together.
SPEAKER_02Well, I recently heard about um um uh Quentin Tarantino writing like a script for a crossover between Django from Django Unchained and Sorrow. And I'm like, that's kinda cool. Okay. Because I I I I like those movies. And they're not they're like separate, and I hope that it's like the same um actors as in the movies, so they can put, you know, uh Jamie Fox and uh Antonio Banderas. That that would be cool. Sorry, this might uh it's just me being nerdy, but uh I haven't seen the Django Unchained.
SPEAKER_00I haven't really seen Zorro either, but I've I I recognize it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00There was a TV show, right? Uh with Zoro? Or was it just the movie?
SPEAKER_02I mean, uh I think there was like an older TV show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But uh the movies are from like 98 and uh 2005.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02And those are the ones I'm more familiar with.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
Fixing The Movie Watch Order
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You have a Rambo shirt on.
SPEAKER_02I do.
SPEAKER_00Um, I I have to criticize the movie list a little bit. Nothing bad. I I wish it was done a little bit differently.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00But uh you probably did it the way you did for a reason. But I think that it would have been better to see the Rocky movies and then the the other guy. What's the other guy? We watched Stallone and the other guy as old guys fighting each other. I know. We should have seen his movies and then the one with the two of them together. And then I would have appreciated that last one more.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's all.
SPEAKER_02I feel like Yeah, I know. I I've been thinking about that too, but uh just not what happened. I I had a reason to do what I did.
SPEAKER_00Probably because it had something similar with the other movie that we were watching.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well I I think I wanted uh the two movies with uh Stallone and Robert De Niro next to each other. So Copland and then uh Grudge Match.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02That's and other reasons too, because uh I I mean I kind of wanted the movies further further down the list to be further further down the list. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And also it has to do with like the videos I make and stuff like that. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Robert De Niro. Yeah. Yeah. We're gonna watch his boxing movies.
SPEAKER_02Uh we can.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Okay. What were those?
SPEAKER_02Uh it's just the one, I think. Oh. Uh Raging Bull.
SPEAKER_00Right. Okay. Okay. Cool. Alright. Anything else?
SPEAKER_02Uh no, no. But I mean, I can uh maybe fix the uh the Grudge Match movie as a re-watch movie.
SPEAKER_00We have to uh start everything over. Okay. From the beginning of the list, we have to go back down again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and just move the that movie to have to redo it and do it better. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I make sense.
SPEAKER_02I feel like I wanted to move around more uh on the movies after we watched them. I'm like, oh, why didn't I put it like that? And you know, sometimes you just have to live with how it went. It's like the Adam Sandler movies. I now that we s uh that I've seen uh Little Nicky, I kinda wanted it to be after Happy Gilmore since Chubb's uh Call Weathers is in that one in heaven. In heaven, in heaven.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, oh that why why did we watch that before Happy Gilmore? I don't know. But I didn't know. That makes sense. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I uh nope, didn't
Travel Plans And A Podcast Break
SPEAKER_00know. Um I'm gonna change the subject.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00Uh to something uh maybe not as exciting, but I am going to the States for a few weeks. How are we gonna do that?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Do you do you want me to give you a stick that, you know, you can take with you and watch the movies over there, or do you wanna like watch the movie beforehand or after the fact?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Because you're also very you're also very busy.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna be busy and I want to prioritize the things that I have over there. I mean, maybe I can take the movies on the stick and uh do my best to watch them, but I won't promise anything.
SPEAKER_03No, okay.
SPEAKER_00But I'm also thinking I think I want to take a break from the podcast.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Because I mean it's just it's a lot. And I'm already gonna be doing a lot. And yeah. Would that be okay? Yeah, I guess so. Okay. I mean we'll see what actually ends up happening. We've got another month left.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So how mad are you?
SPEAKER_02I'm not mad.
SPEAKER_00You're really mad? Yeah. Not right now, but later when you start thinking about it, it's like, why does she have to ruin everything all the time? Am I gonna be the one who's ruining your life now?
SPEAKER_02Maybe.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm thinking uh um I think I ruined my life uh Enough. Enough. I'm good at that myself. Yeah, okay. So it's okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah, we'll see what happens. But that's what I'm thinking right now.
SPEAKER_02They didn't have No Coca-Cola.
SPEAKER_00That's mean. You're back.
SPEAKER_02That was uh That was the day with that.
SPEAKER_00Yep. That's typical. Last like 40 minutes and then that's it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What? What do you want? Ain't a one. Ain't a while.
SPEAKER_02Well, I helped uh you know my parents last weekend.
SPEAKER_00Oh, are we going to the gym after this?
SPEAKER_02If you want to.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02That's the the same reaction I had like every day this week.
SPEAKER_00Again, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but then I'm like, no, I can't stay home because then I'm gonna get used to that and uh it's not okay. No. Uh for their wedding, I think. Or something. No? I don't know. They they went to a place and uh then um They went to Okay. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00I I thought it was her because I believe she put on a little weight, right? Yeah. And so the woman kinda looked like her. So I'm wondering if it's her, but she's uncredited. I couldn't find her in the cast. No. We'll see. Yep. Okay.
Pokemon Movies And Too Many Generations
SPEAKER_02It appears in human. We're gonna watch so uh uh a few. We're gonna watch Pokemon movies.
SPEAKER_00You'll probably see sleeping Pokemon in the movies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I mean I mean, I I was like looking through if how many movies there were. There are like 20 movies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well now it's just getting ridiculous because there's like at least a million different uh what do you even call them now? Uh um yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh I think um I think I know what I don't remember.
SPEAKER_00Hold on. We need to pause because I need to talk about Pokemon for a minute.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um Pokemon.
SPEAKER_02Pokey Yon. Pokemon You don't wanna meet a Pokey Yon.
SPEAKER_00No. Uh Pokedex. I'll just go for that. And it will probably tell me my what I'm looking for. That didn't tell me. I know they call it something. Um this is important right now. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm also thinking. I I think I know the word, but I just don't remember it.
SPEAKER_00Generation. Oh my god. There's at the moment, there's nine different generations of Pokemon.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00At least 20,000 video games. And that's not real. I just came up with it. Okay. Don't look at me like, okay. Yeah, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02I I believe you.
SPEAKER_00I believe you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And um, so the movies are a little uh out of control, and every single one of them nowadays are very cringy.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00I love them as a kid. As an adult, it's like, mm, okay. Yeah. Yeah, all right.
SPEAKER_02So when I was looking through the uh like the list of all uh the sequels, I'm like, no, we're good with the ones you Yeah, I only put down the ones that I thought were worth watching.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um I believe I've seen most of them. I think the ones further down the list I probably have not seen.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00At least the last one. Depending on how many movies we have on there. Yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
Door Interruptions And Dog Chaos
SPEAKER_02Intentional Oh no, there's someone at the door.
SPEAKER_00Hello. Please no. I don't want to stand here talking forever about nothing. Yes, but you like something? Uh he's doing the ding-dong ditch. I guess. Or doing ding-dong ditch, but not ditching, just hanging on the handle. Hey, do you want something? Buddy, please. What what would you like? I love you. Is Papa making food? It smells like food. What's Papa doing? Bye bye. Woof woof. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. What was that? Why do we yawn?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_02No. Brain temperature uh regulation.
SPEAKER_00Why do we yawn? My jaw cracks.
SPEAKER_02The draw jaw.
Yawning Science And Stuck Yawns
SPEAKER_02I'm a good jerk. Kr crack. What are you writing? Kr crack. When Lauren.
SPEAKER_00Me specifically. You do the same thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. When we. Um yawn. Okay. Now I need to find where was uh What was that?
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. Uh yeah, this doesn't help. I can't read. Just where are you? There. Right. Oh, it activates that. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Wait. I'm sorry. I have to pause. Okay. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Why is it contagious? Self-other reprints representation. Representation. Repres uh yeah. Self-other. What self-other representation?
SPEAKER_00I can't see. I don't know. Whatever. Skip over that one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That wasn't.
SPEAKER_00I'll just cut that one out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that wasn't interesting anyways. Nucleus. Nuclear nucleus.
SPEAKER_00Nucleus.
SPEAKER_02Nucle nucleus. Nucleus. This creates a noticeable reset.
SPEAKER_00I know that. I already know that. Old news. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_02Did you want me to ask you why why it's not?
SPEAKER_00Oh why does it sometimes not feel satisfactory after a yawn?
SPEAKER_02Why does uh or doesn't?
SPEAKER_00Why does it sometimes not?
SPEAKER_02Sometimes not feel satisfactory.
SPEAKER_00Or satisfying. Satisfying after a yawn.
SPEAKER_02Satisfying after uh e no yawn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've why do I sometimes not like yawn?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Why why doesn't yawn always satisfy me?
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Uh okay, here we go I'll take that later.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02This old theory is largely un unsupported.
SPEAKER_00D what?
SPEAKER_02Vasovag vagal. Vasil vag Vaginal? No. Vasovagal. V vagal. Vasovag vagal. I don't really want to help you.
SPEAKER_00I just want to hear you keep trying.
SPEAKER_02Vasovagal. That's what reactions. Vasov vaginal reactions. Neurological disorders.
SPEAKER_00That has they're not even connected. Okay. What is this? Yeah, no. No.
SPEAKER_02I I cut that out.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Vaso vaginal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Significantly. And that was the first time.
SPEAKER_00Disgusting.
SPEAKER_02Okay, we already already know this one. Okay. Old news. Olympic athletes sometimes yawn before a competition.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I said that before.
SPEAKER_00And then what?
SPEAKER_02Reading about uh yawning triggers real yawns in many people. I why is it repeating?
SPEAKER_00I can jump over that part.
SPEAKER_02Researchers still debate the primary evolutionary purpose. Okay. Whether contagious yawning cruelly reflects empathy, why some people are highly susceptible and others almost immune. How exactly yawning alters brain state? Why yawning is so conserved across species species.
SPEAKER_00I have a question.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Is there a lot left? This is We're reaching two hours.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this is the end of this. Then we have the question.
SPEAKER_00Let's skip to the questions. I'm sorry. Is that okay? Yeah. Alright.
SPEAKER_02Maybe I don't have to read all of the answers for the question.
SPEAKER_00You can give me like the important parts, and then when it starts com repeating itself, then you can go to the next one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Sounding boring.
SPEAKER_02Here's the actual picture. Some studies found that Hey.
SPEAKER_00Oh tip shot. Fast fit. Fist shot. Okay. Hey though.
SPEAKER_02That unsatisfying yawn feeling is surprisingly common. People often describe it as a yawn that gets stuck.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but why?
SPEAKER_02Not reaching the peak. Um what? Not reaching the peak. Oh. It's like when you doesn't fulfill one. I don't know. Um number one. The the yawn sequence didn't fully complete. Uh a satisfying uh a satisfying yawn is coordinated chain involving yeah, okay. I don't we know that. Sorry.
SPEAKER_00But there's no reason. It's just because you didn't finish the yawn.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Is it like homework? Can you make up for it later?
SPEAKER_02So if something interrupts that sequence, uh uh
Short Answers And Wrap Up
SPEAKER_02consciously or unconsciously, the brain still feels the need for completion. Um why?
SPEAKER_00Okay. Go to the bottom and ask it to give you a shorter answer. A short and direct answer.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
