Roasty Toasty Ghosty
Roasty Toasty Ghosty — The comedy class no one asked for, and everyone needs.
Each week, Lauren and Mattias “teach” you something completely useless — from fake history lessons and chaotic crash courses to games, quizzes, and whatever else their sleep-deprived brains come up with. Think educational chaos… but make it funny.

We start right there, because that tiny ritual is weirdly universal, and it sets the tone for a fast, messy, funny conversation that keeps swerving into new lanes.
Then we get obsessed with a party game we keep hearing about at work: Hitster, the music trivia card game that uses QR codes to play songs on Spotify and dares you to place each track on a timeline by release year. It sounds simple until your brain tries to separate late 70s from early 80s, or you realize you’re great at naming an artist but terrible at pinning down the date. We dig into why pop culture memory works that way, why movies sometimes feel easier to date than songs, and how confidence can be totally disconnected from being correct.
Along the way we drop a quick AFI shoutout (yes, “Cinematic” comes up), joke about workplace survival fantasies, and accidentally create a tagline that spirals into “a bad cat in a bush” territory. The back half goes full conversational chaos: New England horror vibes, a cryptid name-drop, a crooked Greek mythology sirens riff, and a closing beat that turns into a playful trust standoff.

SPEAKER_01That's what I do before going to sleep. I'm like, Yes, it's charging.
SPEAKER_00It is charging.
SPEAKER_01I need to check again.
SPEAKER_00Well, I have one of these in my room. So I just put it on there and then it glows when it's charging. Yeah. It's connected. So I can see from my bed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I don't have one of those. No. So that's why I have to check my phones. Yeah. Yeah. That's how it works.
SPEAKER_00I guess um. Uh

SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Apparently, what you do is that there's a QR code on the cards. You scan it and it plays a song on Spotify.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And then uh this card, you have like a timeline in front of you, and you have to put it in the timeline, like what year it was released.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, I would suck at it, but I probably would too, because I'm not very good with years.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00But if it was like uh say the title or the artist, I would have a better chance there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would suck at that too. Yeah. But uh if it was the year thing with movies, I think I would be fairly good at that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Not perfect. Because I I've been wrong before I could like uh it felt like I could all years
Why Years Are Hard To Guess
SPEAKER_01on movies.
SPEAKER_00You can you know everything.
SPEAKER_01But now I don't think so. I I I remember when we did the movie quotes and we were talking about um Apollo 13.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Was it right? I don't know. I think so. And uh I guessed the year wrong. Not good several times, and I'm like, I don't get it.
SPEAKER_00I what's wrong with you?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah. Usually I can uh guess within like a couple years from the actual yeah. But yeah, songs I I I'm not very good at that.
SPEAKER_00But uh I can I can do like an estimate. Like I'm pretty sure I know which songs are from like the 80s and 90s and such. Okay, but specific years is difficult for me. And like the ones that are like right in between, like between 79 and 80, like right in that area. I I'm I usually get that wrong.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00I think it's you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Cinematic. Ooh, nice. Oh, yeah. It's AFI. Cool. Yeah, okay. Sorry, quite.
SPEAKER_01Need to listen to that.
SPEAKER_00You need to listen to more AFI.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. It was self-poisoning.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so you can't go to work for two weeks now?
SPEAKER_00Right. That's the goal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I might take a sip of that. Be like, sorry, I'm also poisoned. Yeah. Calm a TS. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Give me. Did you do that?
SPEAKER_00Did I do a tagline?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, did you?
SPEAKER_00I had a different tagline last week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I remember that, but did you have one this week?
