We come back together for a chaotic catch-up that turns into two movie reviews, a travel diary, and a lot of side quests about fruit, airports, and being tired. We talk through why The Burbs works as a horror comedy, why The Cobbler surprised us, and what it feels like when real life gets just as absurd as the movies.
• debating 1990 movies and going off on airport behavior
• reviewing The Burbs and why suburban snooping is both funny and annoying
• calling out the wild neighbor moments, especially the fridge raid
• talking casting and characters, including Carrie Fisher and Corey Feldman
• breaking down The Cobbler premise and the “become the shoe owner” twist
• explaining why The Cobbler feels different from a typical Adam Sandler comedy
• sharing Lauren’s trip from Sweden to the United States and fixing up a family house
• telling the plane overhead-bin argument and the rental car saga
• describing the fire pit build, tool confusion, and chainsaw chaos
• playing Mad Libs and ending with what’s currently ruining our lives

Welcome Back And 1990 Movies

SPEAKER_10

Now people will know that they're right where they're right where they're supposed to be.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. That's how you say that.

SPEAKER_10

Cool. It felt so wrong.

SPEAKER_06

But it was right. Good. Yeah. Alright, well, I'm out of sips.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I I didn't even fill them up.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Uh I I'm I'm out of water.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. So well, we took a walk in the water.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I didn't manage to drink any of it, I think.

SPEAKER_10

No. Missed opportunity.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I could have been hydrated during the walk, but I wasn't.

SPEAKER_10

No. You never opened your mouth.

SPEAKER_06

No, I'm looking upwards. I didn't talk to you either.

SPEAKER_10

No. So do you want to open it up?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, let's open this up.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Sure. I'm back.

SPEAKER_10

Yes, you are. Cheers.

SPEAKER_06

Here we are. Guess who's back? Back again. Lauren's back. Tell your friends. Hey Matias.

SPEAKER_10

Hey Lauren.

SPEAKER_06

I'm back.

SPEAKER_10

You're back.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Okay. Hello. And welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosties. I am Lauren and I am back.

SPEAKER_10

And I'm Matias, and I'm still here.

SPEAKER_06

I never left.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

Very cool. Uh yes. Roasty Toasty Ghosty, the podcast about uh movies and other things and something else. We're still figuring that out. Yeah, movies. 190 episodes later.

SPEAKER_10

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Is it 90 today?

SPEAKER_10

91 today.

SPEAKER_06

Is it? Oh.

SPEAKER_10

I'm pretty sure.

SPEAKER_06

Oh boy.

SPEAKER_10

Almost 1991.

SPEAKER_06

It's 90. 90. Yeah. Okay. What's your favorite movie from 90? 1990. Um the best one ever.

SPEAKER_10

From 1990. 90. I don't know. Um it's difficult. I don't wanna say the wrong answer.

SPEAKER_06

You have to.

SPEAKER_10

I I have to say the wrong answer.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, so tell me the best movie of 1990, wrong answers only.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Or we'll call it second best in case you come up with something better later.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I I'm gonna go through my action heroes and see what they did.

SPEAKER_06

What were they doing in the 90s?

SPEAKER_10

Okay. 1990. Jackie, he made uh Island on Fire.

SPEAKER_06

I like that one.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, the one in the prison.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. So that that's a good one. Stallone made Rocky V.

SPEAKER_05

It was okay.

SPEAKER_10

It was okay. So um Schwarzenegger made Total Recall.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

The Mars movie. Not the Mars bar. Like he goes to Mars and makes Mars bars.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

What else?

SPEAKER_10

Bruce Willis made Die Hard 2. That's a cool one. I like it.

SPEAKER_05

I think it was okay. I don't remember, but I'm sure it was okay.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, the airport one. I don't know. Sure. Oh yeah, that one. I don't remember.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I haven't seen it.

SPEAKER_06

He was running around the airport.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I've done that.

SPEAKER_10

Shooting bad guys.

SPEAKER_06

I have not done that.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I've wanted to. Especially the people who are like really slow. The most amo um um annoying people at the airport are the people who one will cut in between you and the person you are with. Usually the person I'm with is in front of me because I am slower than they are.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And uh slower people than the person in front of me, and you know, that person in between, they'll just cut in between the two of us and then walk really slowly, and then they'll stop and stare at their phone. Like stop right there in the middle of the hall.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And just like I'm trying to run here as fast as my tiny little legs will take me.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And they just stop. And it's so annoying. That is the best way to just ruin my entire experience.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Hmm.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway, that was my airport story.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Who what else?

SPEAKER_10

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

What else?

SPEAKER_10

Schwarzenegger also made Kindergarten Cup.

SPEAKER_06

That one was good.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I like that one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

We watched that one together. Yeah. Yeah, because it was on Netflix at the time.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that was like one of the first. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Because it was on Netflix at the time.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. That's um who else? Mel Gibson. He made uh he was alive. Yeah. Bird on a vi uh uh bird on a wire. Not bird on a wire.

SPEAKER_06

What was it?

SPEAKER_10

Bird on a wire.

SPEAKER_06

Is that the the one where he was this weirdo? The the creepy guy?

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

Well the little boy becomes friends with him.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

All of his friends think that he's like a murderer guy. No, no. Okay.

SPEAKER_10

Not that one. That's the man without a face.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Because he didn't have a face.

SPEAKER_10

No, he had half a face. He was like the pantama of the opera. Yeah. But uh Bardona Wire uh Yes, see I did.

SPEAKER_04

You did that.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Uh it was the one with Goldie Hahn when they were on the run from bad guys, and uh Mel Gibson had like uh a hundred different names.

SPEAKER_09

Hmm. Okay.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Alright. That that's a fun one. I really liked that one.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I probably did too. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sure.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sure of it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Who else was there? What did The Rock do? What was he doing?

SPEAKER_10

He didn't m make movies.

SPEAKER_06

He was a wrestler.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. I wasn't alive yet.

SPEAKER_10

No. Me neither.

SPEAKER_06

No. But you were created.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_06

Yep.

SPEAKER_10

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

I did math. I had to correct myself internally, and then I was like, no, yeah, I'm right.

SPEAKER_10

The year of my creation.

SPEAKER_06

The year of your creation, 1990. It's not really something you want to think about. No. No. Alright, alright.

SPEAKER_01

We will go further. Okay. Go further. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Leave that subject and go further with further in detail.

SPEAKER_02

Is it okay if I leave?

SPEAKER_06

No, no, no, no. You have to be a part of this. It's life-changing.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Literally. Literally.

SPEAKER_02

Literally.

SPEAKER_06

Literally.

SPEAKER_01

Literally.

SPEAKER_02

Literally. Leary.

SPEAKER_01

It's Yuri.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. So what's your favorite movie from 1990?

SPEAKER_04

I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_04

I have to look them up.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. What else?

SPEAKER_10

If you said 1991, I would have said Terminator 2.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but no.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

No. We're not there yet.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

You can talk about that next week.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Well, here we are. Would you like the movie on?

SPEAKER_10

Let's move on.

SPEAKER_06

Very cool because we did watch movies together for the first time in like two weeks.

Peach Talk And Travel Banter

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yep. We watched The Burbs. Burbs. And the corridor. Co commander. Cobbler. Yes. Cobbler. Cobblestones.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, the cobbler. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Cobbler doesn't make me think of shoes.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I think of like a peach cobbler, which is a kind of dessert, I think. I've never had it. I've heard it's good, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

I would like to know. I never had that experience.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Unfortunately. I also heard that peaches and cream is good.

SPEAKER_10

Peaches and cream.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I I'm sure it is. I like peaches.

SPEAKER_06

I like cream.

SPEAKER_10

I like cream too.

SPEAKER_06

I also like peaches.

SPEAKER_10

The sequel.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Um, but I've I've I've I've not had that many desserts with peaches.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

I've had iced tea with peach flavor.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Which is pretty good. And I don't know. Peaches are good.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I ate a peach once.

SPEAKER_10

Once?

SPEAKER_06

I think.

SPEAKER_10

Just one time? Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_06

Well, a real peach.

SPEAKER_01

A real peach. Well, I mean as a kid, we would get Well, I don't know. I'm not going to claim if it was real or fake.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. How do you know if it's real or fake?

SPEAKER_06

I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

But as a kid, we would get little fruit cubs and there would be like peach pieces in it.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So we're told that we're eating peaches. I can't say if they were actual peaches.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. So it wasn't really the fruit. You didn't get the fruit and like cut it up yourself.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

I only have eaten a real peach as it is once.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

In Gothenburg.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. That was exciting.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

That was several years ago.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. You've been to Gothenburg.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's cool.

SPEAKER_10

I haven't. I think I've been near Gothenburg, but never there. I've been to Stockholm.

SPEAKER_06

It's I've been to Stockholm.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. The times I've been there, you've been there.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yes, yes. I was there with you every time. Maybe. Probably not.

SPEAKER_10

No, I've been there. Without me? Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

What?

SPEAKER_10

Before.

SPEAKER_06

Why?

SPEAKER_10

We being friends and all, you know. I didn't know about you then.

SPEAKER_06

What are you saying? Are we not friends anymore?

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

You would just go off to Stockholm without me?

SPEAKER_10

Before we're being friends, yeah. That happened.

SPEAKER_06

Oh. I'm kinda hurt.

SPEAKER_10

Should I I have let you know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But I didn't know you.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

It doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe not. No, it doesn't matter. You should have told me anything.

SPEAKER_10

Well, you didn't tell me about the Gothenburg.

SPEAKER_06

No, I didn't. Because uh I don't know. Maybe Yeah. Yeah. You probably walked past me. And I was like, I'm not gonna tell this guy where I've been.

SPEAKER_01

As I usually do when I meet strangers.

SPEAKER_02

You're like, you don't need to know where I've been. Okay, crazy lady.

SPEAKER_01

You don't need to know anything about me. Mind your own business.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Why should I tell you?

SPEAKER_01

Weird fat guy, leave me alone. Like I didn't say anything.

SPEAKER_02

I never want to be friends with you.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to be your friend.

SPEAKER_04

Leave me alone. Anyway.

SPEAKER_10

I oh I thought I recognized that person.

SPEAKER_04

That was me.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

That's when I started losing weight.

SPEAKER_00

Because I followed you. No. Because I called you a back.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I'll show her. I'll infiltrate her life.

SPEAKER_01

Infertilize her.

SPEAKER_02

Infiltrate. Is that not the same uh the correct word?

SPEAKER_01

Is that not the same word?

SPEAKER_02

I think so.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna infertilize you.

SPEAKER_02

Just you wait.

SPEAKER_06

What? Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um that's so we watch a normal conversation from me.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So we watched those movies that I mentioned. Um, and let's see. I'm guessing Adam Sandler is on my side. Yeah, so you're now

The Burbs Plot And First Impressions

SPEAKER_06

I'm gonna tell you about the burbs. Yes. Is it plural?

SPEAKER_10

Burbs.

SPEAKER_06

Burbs. Hmm. Okay, so this is a movie with Tom Hanks and I know her name. Yep. Leia. Yeah, Leah. Princess Leia was in this movie from Star Wars. And um, yeah, that's it. They were the only ones in this movie, I think. Yeah. I don't know the other people. I think. I don't think I knew the other people. No, okay.

SPEAKER_10

Cora Feldman.

SPEAKER_06

Oh yeah. Oh my god, Cory Feldman was in this movie as a kid. He was still a child.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, uh, a teenager. Yeah. Probably 20, I'd say. Uh, because that's usually how it goes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And yeah, so they live uh in the suburbs, and there's a scary house with scary people, and they all the people in the neighborhood are obsessed with figuring these people out. And it's kind of like a horror comedy. Yeah. Horror comedy.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Horror comedy.

SPEAKER_06

Horror comedy. I I feel like I have to coming this fall.

SPEAKER_10

A horror comedy.

SPEAKER_06

Horror comedy. The burbs.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Look at my burbs.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god. Alright. So that's that's what the movie was. It was Tom Hanks. He was there, and he wasn't 70 this time either. He was still like a little baby.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He was older, a little bit, maybe, than last he was one year older than last week.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How time flies. What did you think about the movie?

SPEAKER_10

Uh oh my god. Um, I mean, I I I I like this movie. It's a weird movie, but uh it makes me laugh. And it the characters are so stupid, and I love it. And uh I I like how the men are acting like boys. Just little boys. Yeah. Uh yeah. Uh it's uh it's a funny movie, and uh it's it's weird but funny. Uh what do you think about it?

SPEAKER_06

I did think it was funny. It was a little annoying that they were like all up in these people's business, just leave them alone.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, sure they're doing weird, suspicious things, but I don't know. I don't think I'd go that far.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

Or I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

No. You if uh it was like normal people, they would just let the people do what what they do and then be surprised later when they hear about if something comes out.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah, maybe.

SPEAKER_10

Uh yeah. And also there's a really hungry guy.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god. These neighbors are so I don't know. They're like so rude. They just like they went up to the door, and then they're like, Oh, well, we just wanted to come say hi, and then they just let themselves into the house of these people who they don't know. And then the hungry guy just goes into Tom Hanks' house and he just eats all of his food. He raids the fridge.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He like eats everything, he takes out what was it, leftover meat, a pineapple, and maple syrup.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

With no intention of eating anything except for the meat. I mean, if that was my house, I'd be like, um, that's my pineapple. Yeah. You can't have it.

SPEAKER_02

You can leave now.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Leave my pineapple alone.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And uh Yeah, I don't know. The neighbors don't have much respect for each other, I don't think.

SPEAKER_10

And it's uh kind of funny when um uh Carrie Fisher is Yeah, that's her name.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Princess Leia.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. When she says, like, uh, okay, so before someone falls off the roof or sets uh themselves on fire, uh and then and then that happens in the movie. Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Oh, the guy who uh played uh that older guy.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, the doctor.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, no, no, okay. The neighbor, the the sergeant guy, military guy. I feel like he should have been played by either I think Kevin Nealin would have done really good. Also, he reminded me of Doc Brown, right? Back in the Future.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Christopher Lloyd.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I feel like I would have expected him to play that role.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He would have been really good.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

They looked similar to me. I don't know. Tall, skinny, white hair. Yeah, that's true. And then Cory Feldman was in the movie. What do you think about him?

SPEAKER_10

Wow, he's a character.

SPEAKER_06

Right. In this movie.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. In this movie.

SPEAKER_06

What do you what do you think about the actor?

SPEAKER_10

And for real. Um I don't know. Uh he seems like a strange fella.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. But he seems like really full of himself.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. And I mean, he must have done so much drugs in it in his youth.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_10

It feels like uh almost feels like he was worse than Charlie Sheen.

SPEAKER_06

I feel like they would have gotten along.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Did they come vibe to them? Yeah. Both of them.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I mean, they must have hung out.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

They were kids around the same time.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Right?

SPEAKER_06

Right?

SPEAKER_10

Um now I'm thinking, did they make what year were they born? I I think Charlie is a bit older, maybe, because uh I'm thinking like uh Corey at like 1985 he made the Goonies and he was smaller boy. And uh that was the same same year um Charlie made uh The Boys Next Door.

SPEAKER_06

What was he doing in 1990?

Why The Neighbors Are So Annoying

SPEAKER_10

Charlie?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Um he I don't know if we ever saw a movie that he made from 1990.

SPEAKER_06

I I can cut you there. I don't think we have seen any of his movies.

SPEAKER_10

No, no, because I I know he he made a movie with Clint Eastwood in 1990, but we haven't seen that because I kind of want to see it when we watch the Clint Eastwood movie.

SPEAKER_06

Which one was that?

SPEAKER_10

The Rookie.

SPEAKER_06

No, I've seen the TV show though.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, yeah, it's it's not the same, it's not close.

SPEAKER_06

It's not even close.

SPEAKER_10

I don't know. I haven't seen the TV show.

SPEAKER_06

Have you seen the movie?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Is it police?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, then yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Then it's the same.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's the same. I've seen that one. Probably. Uh I like the movie.

SPEAKER_10

Oh yeah, okay. The burbs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Not the rookie. Well, I don't know. I probably I don't know. Yeah. I probably don't know at this point.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I might find out.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, you never know.

SPEAKER_06

No. But um, yeah, the movie we watched. Yeah. I think I like that one.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I like it too.

SPEAKER_06

Next.

SPEAKER_10

Next. The cobbler.

SPEAKER_06

Like peaches.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Okay, you wanna go that down that road again?

SPEAKER_06

What is your favorite peach dessert? Or anything with peaches?

SPEAKER_10

I don't know. No, uh I don't know. Um I I something like pie. I yeah, it it could definitely be a good pie. I don't know if I had uh peach pie, but it sure sounds like we should make peach pie. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Peach pie.

SPEAKER_10

Peach pie.

SPEAKER_03

Peach pie.

SPEAKER_10

Um how fun. But I know I um made uh fruit salad with uh with uh peach in it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I like the the candy rings, the peach or uh the peach candies. I like those.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I kinda want a peach now. It's really good.

SPEAKER_06

I just want candy.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, I can go for the ice cream.

SPEAKER_06

Peach ice cream.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, that's good.

SPEAKER_06

Or like a sorbet.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, sherbert. Sherbert.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Sherbert.

SPEAKER_06

Sherbert. Sorbet. Right. Sure. Bert. Bert. Peach.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I've been to Georgia. We went through Georgia. That's the peach state.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. But you never had a peach there?

SPEAKER_06

I didn't have a peach there. I've also never had an orange in Florida.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

You got orange juice.

SPEAKER_10

I uh yeah, I like orange juice.

SPEAKER_06

I don't think I did.

SPEAKER_10

I like oranges too.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but they're in Florida. Oh. We're talking about peaches. They're in Georgia.

SPEAKER_02

They're not in Florida.

SPEAKER_06

No. They know where the borders are. They have like fruit wars, I think.

SPEAKER_02

Fruit wars.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. They're like fruit games. Like you can't hang out in my state. Peach. Peach.

SPEAKER_10

Where where's the Paris Paris State? Paris. Paris State.

SPEAKER_06

Paris is in Illinois.

SPEAKER_10

Paris wheel?

SPEAKER_06

Where the Paris wheels are. You've got Paris wheels filled with pears in Paris.

SPEAKER_10

Ah.

SPEAKER_06

In Paris. Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of far from the peaches and oranges, though. So it's okay.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

And then the apples are in New York.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, the big apple.

SPEAKER_06

Bananas? I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

The kiwi. I like the kiwi. Where?

SPEAKER_06

Where's the kiwi?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Hawaii?

SPEAKER_06

No, that's a pineapple.

SPEAKER_10

I feel like kiwi would be be better than pineapple for Hawaii.

SPEAKER_06

Pineapples are in Hawaii. That's where they are. Because that's just where they're born and raised.

SPEAKER_10

Then they should change uh the word pineapple to kiwi, because that fits better with Hawaii.

SPEAKER_06

No, it doesn't work like that. You can't do this. Leave the fruits alone.

SPEAKER_02

Like Britney.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The fruit.

SPEAKER_06

Leave the fruits alone. They have lives too. Anyway, the cobblers. Oh yeah, the cobbler.

SPEAKER_10

So this movie um stars Adam Sandler. He's a cobbler. A shoemaker. He's not a peach. He's a peach. He's a peach. Peachy Adam Sandler. Um okay, so uh and uh he has like

Casting Tangents And Cory Feldman

SPEAKER_10

a magic stitcher or what what was it called?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, for the shoes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It's like a sewing machine for shoes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, and uh so he has and it's magic because uh when he puts the shoes on his feet he becomes the person the owner of the shoe.

SPEAKER_06

Or he like yeah, he embodies it's a whole new meeting to uh putting or yeah, putting yourself in someone else's shoes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. You become that person.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Uh and uh yeah, he gets into trouble doing that. And uh yeah, um that's what the movie's about.

SPEAKER_06

He killed his mom.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, in a way, but she was happy.

SPEAKER_06

She was too happy.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, she was so happy she died.

SPEAKER_06

She died happy.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I'm just glad it didn't go further than uh dinner.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

I was so worried.

SPEAKER_06

Have you seen this?

SPEAKER_10

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Have you seen the other one too?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_10

I've seen the other one more times though. Oh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Alright.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, because uh during the I'm like, oh, soon this is gonna happen. Like, mm-hmm. Yeah, so I was like, I've seen this quite a few times, I guess.

SPEAKER_06

I did not think that. Okay. Because I haven't seen these movies.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay. But in case you were wondering. What did you think about The Cobbler?

SPEAKER_06

I really liked it. Yeah. Yeah. It's um it was an interesting concept.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Yeah. It's not your ordinary uh Adam Sandler movie.

SPEAKER_06

Mm no, but it's it it has the same kind of vibe as the bedtime stories.

SPEAKER_10

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_06

It's like, you know, what if.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And like click and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, in a way, but it doesn't really have the same tone.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_10

It's not like the goofy comedy. It's funny, but it's not the Adam Sandler tone.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_10

In the comedy.

SPEAKER_06

But it's like the same, like what if this would happen.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Like a kind of fantasy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. And I remember first time I saw this, because uh I I noticed like directly that uh it's not the Adam Sandler movie uh tone as in most of his movies. So I'm like, oh no, this is I'm I'm not gonna like this one, I think. And then when it started, I'm like, this is kind of fun. Yeah. I like this one.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

So yeah, it it really took me by surprise. And uh yeah, it's it's a good movie actually.

SPEAKER_06

And Steve Buscemi is in this one.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, of course.

SPEAKER_06

He was there. Yeah. I did not see uh Rob Schneider.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

It's like the one movie.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

The only movie he's not in.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Um and Dustin Hoffman is in this one too.

SPEAKER_06

But who is he?

SPEAKER_10

He's uh Adam Sandler's dad.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I I got that. But like he's been in other movies.

SPEAKER_10

Movies. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

He's in Rain Man. I haven't seen it. Yeah, don't

The Cobbler Setup And Magic Shoes

SPEAKER_06

even, don't even, because I haven't seen it. Yeah, yeah. I'm right.

SPEAKER_10

You're right. I'm right. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Hook.

SPEAKER_10

He was Captain Hook. He's Captain Hook.

SPEAKER_05

In Hook.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We've seen that one.

SPEAKER_10

But he doesn't really look like himself in that movie.

SPEAKER_06

I guess not.

SPEAKER_10

But yes, that's true.

SPEAKER_06

That's it.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_06

I was right though.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I had to be right. I had the feeling too. So we were both right. But you were I was right first. More writer than me.

SPEAKER_01

More writer.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. So yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It was a good movie. Good movie. I liked it. Yeah, I liked it too. And I was right. Yeah. That's all.

SPEAKER_10

Perfect.

SPEAKER_06

Is that?

SPEAKER_10

That's the perfect time to take a break.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Yep. Before we ruin it. Yeah. Ruin it.

SPEAKER_10

Ruin it.

SPEAKER_06

Ruin it. Ruin it.

SPEAKER_10

Or you want to talk about peaches?

SPEAKER_06

We can always talk about peaches, but we're going to take a break while we talk about peaches.

SPEAKER_10

Making a peach pie.

SPEAKER_06

We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_10

We're back.

SPEAKER_06

We are. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

That was like the first break in forever.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, in like two weeks.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. AKA forever.

SPEAKER_06

It felt like forever. So what was I doing while I was gone?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Um that's the question.

SPEAKER_06

I'm gonna tell you.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I traveled to the states from here, Sweden. That's where we are right now.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I went to the States and I um I stayed in a little camper. Uh my oldest came with me, and we stayed in a little camper at my uncle's house that he is fixing up, and I was there to fix up my mom's house.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Which I believe I own like a third of it, or maybe not. Maybe I I just have a say in what happens with it. I'm not sure my status here.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe you do, maybe you don't.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know. Who knows? But I went in there. I I know how to break in. And um That's good. I I remembered. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't think I even bothered using the keys this time. My sister gave me the keys and I was like, okay. And then I I never used them.

SPEAKER_10

Very easier ways.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah, much easier ways. And yeah, I got in and I removed the kitchen.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. Yeah. It sounds like you did that in like ten minutes or something.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it felt like ten minutes. No, no, it took longer than ten minutes, but it was it was a task.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

We took out the cabinets and the counters, and I uh took out the sink and I was a plumber for a minute. That's it. And we cleaned and repainted the walls and scrape the ceiling because it was like the popcorn ceiling. We flattened it out and uh there were a lot of stab wounds in the ceiling, so I had to sand it sand it down and uh paint over it to hide the stab wounds. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So if as you do?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Hide them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, paint over the stab wounds.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. And uh so if you don't look at the ceiling, you won't even notice they're there.

SPEAKER_09

Oh.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. And uh I replaced the lamps, so I was like an electrician for a minute. Cool. So if you don't look too closely to them, uh they look nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And um remove the the floor.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, there's still a floor, there's still a place to walk on, but like the whatever was on top of it.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, yeah. Yeah. So you were a florist?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I put flowers there instead. I replaced the floor with flowers. Yeah. I got confused. Um yeah, that's what I did with my oldest, and we also held a garage sale for a couple days, and that went pretty well. And I met some friends. That was kind of fun.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Then I came home. Oh, I have to tell you about um the flight there, though. Because um on one of the flights, I believe it was I don't know which flight it was. Uh everything's a blur. Okay.

SPEAKER_10

But um But you went to Iceland.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. We went to Iceland and then we went to Boston.

SPEAKER_10

Boston.

SPEAKER_06

Uh on one of the flights though, to Boston, I guess.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

We sat down on the plane, right? I we had a bag we put over on the overhead thing. Yeah. Yeah. And it was it was tight on space, okay? And so there was one guy behind me who was trying to like move the bags around to fit his bag. And then there was a guy, you know, a couple rows ahead of me who started getting really annoyed because this guy was touching his bag and he made such a big deal out of it. He was

Why The Cobbler Surprises Us

SPEAKER_06

like talking to the stewardess and everything. He's like, I'm sorry, but this guy is being so rude. He touched my bag. Please don't touch my bag. Don't like just being like that, you know? And oh my god, he was so childish over this guy touching his bag. Yeah. He's like, I'd appreciate it if you don't touch my bag.

SPEAKER_02

What's in your bag?

SPEAKER_06

Like, yeah, right? Like, what's the big deal? He's trying to make space for his bag. He's like, okay, well, have me move my bag. And like, nobody knows whose bag this is.

SPEAKER_09

No, no.

SPEAKER_06

And so the guy starts moving other people's bags around. The annoying guy um starts moving other people's bags around. He takes my bag and moves it to a different compartment. And I was like, um, excuse me, now you're touching my bag. Like, what's the big deal? But that was just like sarcastic because I don't care as long as my bag is there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, as long as you know where it is.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I saw where it went. Yeah. And it wasn't a big deal for me. But I, you know, being the person that I am, I am, you know, uh passively aggressive.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Passive aggressively, just saying rather loudly, as I do, like, oh, well, I mean, that guy couldn't touch your bag, but you're gonna go ahead and move mine. Like, what that doesn't make sense. This guy is a huge hypocrite and he's being such a child and blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_10

Did he say anything about that?

SPEAKER_06

No. No. Because why would he?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, uh you were right.

SPEAKER_06

He can touch other people's bags, but nobody can touch his.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So then you started touching other people's I I just opened them all up and boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. He didn't say anything. Yeah, proved a point. Uh I mean, like, everyone around us was like, you know, chuckling over the whole thing. It's like, this is ridiculous. This guy is being ridiculous.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Was it like full? The flight?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it was it was a lot of people there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And um the the guy who had originally moved the bags, um, he was Icelandic and talking to the stewardesses in Icelandic, as they do. Yeah. And um, I mean, you don't really have to speak Icelandic to know what they were saying.

SPEAKER_09

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Like, I don't get it. Like, this this is so dumb.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But yeah, the guy was like getting aggressive. It was Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

But he was speaking English.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, oh yeah. He was very uh English speaking.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, very English speaking.

SPEAKER_06

I don't think he knew other languages.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

He didn't have an accent.

SPEAKER_10

No, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Other than probably American or Canadian or something.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yup. So that was that. And

Break Time And Reset

SPEAKER_06

we got on to the next flight, and I tried so hard to sleep, and it just didn't work out. My son and I tried so many different positions to try to get comfortable. We were trying to like lay on each other and you know, work something out, but it wasn't happening. No. Not for me at least. He I think he fell asleep. He can fall asleep on planes.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I can't.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, no, okay.

SPEAKER_06

But I wanted to so badly. It was an overnight flight, too. So I should have been able to sleep, but no. So we got to Boston and got our bags and everything. No problem.

Lauren’s Trip And House Renovation

SPEAKER_06

It just kind of took a while, as it sometimes does, to get the bags. And then we went to get our car, right? And yeah, it it was it just took a long time. That's all. We went out to the garage to get our bag bags. Ha. No, we already had our bags. Okay. Uh, to get the car.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And I just had to hand over my contract to the guy, and he was supposed to get me a car. I just wanted to test my luck, and um, I asked the guy if I could get a Jeep. I mean, the Jeep's not on my contract, but uh I was like, uh, what are the chances? Yeah. Can we get a Jeep? He's like, I'll see what I can do. And he goes off and he's like, you stand right here and uh wait. Wait for me to come back.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And so we see him wandering around, and it must have been like half an hour or so. We're just standing there and like waiting for something to happen. He's like, Oh, just just wait. Someone's coming with a car for you. It's like, okay, but we have like jeeps around us. It's like eventually, it was just like, can we just take that one? That one's right there. Can we just take it and go? He's like, uh. And then eventually he just like takes us to some SUV, a black SUV. Yeah. And he's like, you know what? This isn't even on your contract. This is uh a higher uh like status car than what's on your contract, but just take it and go.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

I was like, Well, okay, okay, I'm sorry. Like I so we really could take any car, it doesn't really matter. I was just asking if we could get a Jeep. Yeah. You could have said no.

SPEAKER_02

He sounded annoyed.

SPEAKER_06

He got annoyed because like it had taken so long, and the guy who he had apparently had called a guy to bring down a car, and it was taking him forever, and then the guy finally came down with the car, but we took a different car anyway. And he's like got all annoyed. He's like, Okay, well, now this guy's not gonna know what to do with that car. So just take this car and go. I was like, Well, okay, well, I'm I'm sorry, okay, we'll go, whatever.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So we took the car and we went.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, as long as you got the car.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we got a car. It's never like flawless though. Um, the whole process of getting a rental car.

SPEAKER_10

But the car was good.

SPEAKER_06

The car was good.

SPEAKER_10

You miss it.

SPEAKER_06

I do. I mean, coming back here after having a rental car is always difficult because I miss the features that the rental car had. And I just I get so used to that car that So quickly. So quickly. Yeah. I get so comfortable. And uh yeah, I'm still getting used to my own car.

SPEAKER_10

That you had for how long?

SPEAKER_06

Uh quite a few years.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But uh yeah, I'm not used to it.

SPEAKER_10

But the the car you had for two weeks, the that's like stuck in my head. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I liked it. Yeah. I have to get my own of that car. I don't even know what it was. Just go to the dealership and be like, do you have any black cars?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um until they get annoyed with you. Just take the cars take that one.

SPEAKER_06

Like, it's black, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

unknown

Fine.

SPEAKER_06

I guess I'll buy this one. Whatever. Anyway. Yeah, we we got home uh in the rain. It was dark. Uh it was like two in the morning, and I was falling asleep.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But we made it. And then yeah, we were waiting for a dumpster, so it took us uh a day or so before we could actually start working. But my oldest became a deconstructor.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he was tearing everything apart, and he liked it. He he liked destroying the the cabinets and the all the shelves, all the furniture that I gave to him.

SPEAKER_10

He became Conan the destroyer.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. That's what he did. And yeah, I saw my uncle for a couple days. Uh we tried getting him to let us play with his four-wheeler. It didn't happen.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

He was so stressed. He was only there for two days, and then he had to go back to Florida when he originally wanted to be up there for like a week.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Oh well. But I made friends with his contractor, who was very helpful.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm just kinda sad because I didn't get to be there for the final kitchen, uh, with the cabinets and the flooring and everything. But yeah, we're currently working on that.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I don't I don't really know what else.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

What am I missing? Oh yeah. We we built a fire pit. Oh yes. Oh, it's kind of a funny story because um we were going to uh prep an area to build a fire pit. And so we were trying to look through the various tools that we had available to us. We found two weed whackers, but I I could have sworn that weed whackers weed whackers had like blades, right? They're just wires.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, they're they're just wires.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. It didn't make sense to me.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

It just doesn't make sense to me. I thought there were supposed to be sharp blades, so I found these two weed whackers, and I'm like, these are broken. Okay. There's no blades to them.

SPEAKER_10

I'd never seen a blade on a weed whack.

SPEAKER_06

No, I've

Plane Drama Over Overhead Bags

SPEAKER_06

never used one.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_06

So my son is like, no, they're supposed to be like that. Yeah. They're like a lot more powerful than you think. I was like, all right, well, whatever if you say so. And so we try to hook them up or uh start them, and uh they weren't working because one, I believe this is also when he was trying to put gas in the oil tank.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

And we had no oil because he thought that gas was oil. He thought that they were the same thing. So we put gas in both the oil and the gas tank. It wasn't working.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_06

With either of them.

SPEAKER_10

Weird.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

So uh Yeah, maybe you should you shouldn't mix them.

SPEAKER_06

No? Okay. Uh I don't know anything. I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

But no expert.

SPEAKER_06

The timing here, okay? Because we're like standing around in the driveway. We're trying to figure out how are we gonna do this. And then I hear in the distance over at my uncle's house across the field, I was like, it sounds like someone is mowing the lawn over there. The lawnmower guys were there.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

So we took the car and drove it back to my uncle's house. And they were there. And I approached them and I was like, Hi, I mean no harm. I am the niece. I I'm allowed to be here.

SPEAKER_01

It's okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um don't shoot me.

SPEAKER_01

Don't shoot me. Don't kill me with your lawnmower or weed whackers or anything.

SPEAKER_06

But do you by chance have a weed whacker we could borrow? He's like, Well, I do have a weed whacker. It was like, okay, well, we're we're just gonna do this little area.

SPEAKER_02

You're like, it has no blades. It's broken.

SPEAKER_06

What are you trying to do? You think I'm dumb? He's like, Well, I mean, I we can come down and clear the area for you. I was like, Oh, well, yeah, sure, of course you can do that. I'm not gonna argue. And so he's like, Okay, well, we'll be down in like an hour, hour and a half. I was like, Okay, yeah, we'll be down there and we'll wait for you. So we went back and I probably found something else to do, or we just hung out. I don't know what we did.

SPEAKER_09

No.

SPEAKER_06

And I don't remember what we were doing. We were there. Yeah. And then eventually the lawnmower guys came back or came to us.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And um, yeah, they took their weed whacker and they cleared out the area, and it was the same area that my dad had his fire pits or bonfires, whatever.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And so that was just surprising to me. Uh that like the the rocks that he had put down were still there and Yeah, because I have like no memory of this.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_06

I thought it was somewhere else. Okay. But nope, I was wrong. So uh yeah, they cleared out the area and there was like this giant stump in the middle in the center. Okay. And we ended up ripping it out and uh taking out uh a bunch of the roots and stuff that were left. And then I believe it was the next day we were going to take down a couple of trees that were hanging over so that they wouldn't like catch on fire.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

And so we started with the smaller one and we tried taking it down by hand with like rusty handsaws and an axe.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Uh we finally got it down. It took a lot of work, it was very difficult.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Um, but it did come down. Uh then after that, I was like, no, we're getting a chainsaw. So we went to the hardware store and we got a chainsaw.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And we got that running, which was a whole task of its own because I was freaking out because my son wanted to use the chainsaw. He got to use the chainsaw, but like every time he pulled the the thing, yeah, I was like panicking because I thought it was just gonna start, you know, uh spinning by itself.

SPEAKER_10

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_06

He's like, it's not going to spin when it's on, it's just gonna turn on. I have to push the button to make it spin. Yeah. I was like, okay, just be careful. Please be careful. I was like, this is not a toy. You cannot just play with it, and I want to be around when you use it. It's like fine, fine. And so he did get it going, and he cut down the bigger tree, and it almost hit the the car that was, you know, it's just sitting around there.

SPEAKER_10

But um, I had like it almost hit it it sounded like you were aiming for it.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, no. Because I was like looking up and I saw that it was leaning quite a bit, and it was gonna be really difficult to control where it landed.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Um, but I mean, according to my calculations, it was supposed to land right in between. And it shouldn't even hit the house. It should be okay.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And even if it I don't think well, it probably would have done some damage if it fell on the car or the house. Yeah, okay. Maybe. Well, the branches up top were pretty like weak. So or small, you know. But the car would not have been okay.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

But it landed right where it was supposed to.

SPEAKER_09

Good.

SPEAKER_06

Which is good.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And we broke it with that tree. The the chain got stuck. Oh, the chainsaw. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

The tree also got broke.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, yeah, okay. You broke the tree and the chainsaw.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Yeah, because the chainsaw two in one. Yeah. We bought the chainsaw and then we broke it.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And uh and the tree. And the tree. Yeah. So we brought the chainsaw to the contractor that I was working with, and um he managed to fix it. So yeah, we've got the chainsaw.

SPEAKER_10

Handyman. Handyman.

SPEAKER_06

He was good.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So then, yeah, those trees that we knocked over, they ended up

Rental Car Luck And Missing Features

SPEAKER_06

becoming um benches.

SPEAKER_10

Benches.

SPEAKER_06

Benches around the fire pit. Cool. And we had ordered like cement bricks, blocks.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

That were kind of like rounded. And so we we built a fire pit with those. And we tested it out a few times, and we've had quite a few marshmallows over that fire, and it went really well.

SPEAKER_10

Good.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Cool.

SPEAKER_06

So it was a little bit of destruction and a little bit of construction.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And yeah, it was kind of fun.

SPEAKER_10

No instruction.

SPEAKER_06

No instructions. No well, very minimal.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, more like pointers than instructions. But yeah. It was all fun.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. It was really difficult just motivating my son to do anything. Yeah. And it was really hot. It was humid, like crazy. It was like walking into a wall every time you went outside. Yeah. Like that bad. We were just waiting for a thunderstorm pretty much that whole first week. Yeah. And then one night we were going to bed, and my son's like, Mom, you gotta look out the window. And there was like lightning all over the sky. And it was like that pretty much the entire night that I'm aware of.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

And there was no thunder. So it was like so far away that you couldn't hear the thunder. But there was you saw all that lightning, and it was crazy. Why? I don't know. But I I did find some mad libs while we were there. Uh do you want to test one out?
